In today's homily, Msgr. McCormac tells the story of a soldier who carried a small sack of personal items which meant a lot to him. Unfortunately, they were destroyed in battle, and he realized that everything that he valued and treasured was now gone. In that moment, he realized that he would never allow himself be possessed by his possessions. After the war, he met Padre Pio, and came to realize that the only real treasure in life is Jesus himself and to be his follower. After the war, this soldier returned to the states, entered the seminary, and served our Lord as a priest for the rest of his life. In today's homily, Msgr. McCormac reminds us that the Lord is inviting us to persevere in our charity and our love. Jesus uses the parable of the wheat and the weeds to help us to understand. He cautions against removing the weeds before harvest, lest we remove the wheat instead. In today's homily, Deacon Mace reflects on how the readings use farming imagery, and teach about God's powerful Word and about our own personal receptiveness to hearing the Word of God. In these readings, the seed represents the word of God. God lavishly spreads the seed everywhere for all to hear. The seed that was spread on thorny and rocky soil did not bear any fruit. The seed that falls on 'good soil", bears an abundant harvest. The soil represents the interior receptivity of those who hear the message. They will either hear and accept it, or hear and reject it. In today's homily, Msgr. Magee reminds us on this July 4th weekend, that while we do not bow down to an earthly king, we do owe praise and honor to our heavenly king. He beautifully ties in the powerful words found in our Declaration of Independence that "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." He reminds us of the words of John Adams. He said "Our Constitution was made only for a moral, and religious people." Today, we listen as Msgr. McCormac remembers his own priestly ordination forty-six years ago. After attending the ordination Mass at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul yesterday (May 16, 2026), he began thinking about his own ordination day, and shares some personal reflections with all of us. One very special request he made to God that day was that the Lord put him in places and parishes where the parishioners truly want to celebrate the Eucharist. He tells them "do not let your hearts be troubled", and that he was going to prepare a place for them, and that He would come back and take them to Himself. In today's homily for the Feast of Christ the King, Msgr. Magee begins with some history, discussing how there have been many kings throughout the world over the centuries. Some were very good, but all were human, and all were prone to darkness and sin. God allowed these kings to exist, both good and bad, knowing that he would send one to His people, whose kingship would never be destroyed, and would never be marred by sin. Father Isaac Wahlmeier returned to St. Frances Cabrini Church for his first visit since his ordination in May 2025 as a priest for the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska. He was the principal celebrant for the 11 AM Mass on Sunday, November 16, 2025, and joined by Msgr. McCormac and Msgr. Magee. In his homily, he discusses how for many people, entertainment is a way to satisfy boredom. He says that he does not believe that entertainment is the cure for boredom, but that "wonder" is!!! Today, on this commemoration of All Souls Day, the church remembers all those who are making their way into heaven. In today's homily, Monsignor McCormac reminds us that we pray for all those who are still in purgatory, being purified, and made ready for eternity with God, and to be numbered among the saints. He reminds us of how we can help those in purgatory with our good works and our prayers, and offers a few other ways we can do good in their memory. In Jesus's Parable for the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time, He gives us two models for living out the Christian life. In the first model we find the Pharisees praying "O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity", and thinks he is better than others because of what he does, and how good he is. In the second model we find the tax collector, who is generally believed to be dishonest, often charging more taxes than required, and keeping the excess for himself. The difference between the Pharisees and the tax collector was, despite both being sinful, the tax collector admits to his sin. Take a few moments to listen to Msgr. In today's parable, Jesus tells us about the poor widow who eventually gets justice because of her continual requests to the judge. In today's homily, Msgr. McCormac explains that we might be tempted to think that the problem with the rich man in today's gospel was that he was rich. That was not the problem. The problem was that he did not see Lazarus, the man who was before him. He was poor and hungry. Because he did not see this man, he did not assist in feeding or clothing him. The rich man missed many opportunities to make a difference. Who are some people with needs that we fail to see in our families and communities? The only way to be of assistance to our family and friends is to reach out and talk with them. The Lord has blessed all of us with eyesight, and the Lord is asking us to "see", and to respond. Today, we hear Deacon Moss's first homily at St. Frances Cabrini Parish. As we celebrate the Exultation of the Holy Cross, we must be transformed. Just as when the bronze serpent was lifted up at Moses in our first reading and all were saved, so too, must the Son of Man be lifted up so that whoever believes in Him might live. This is what happens at Calvary. Jesus, the Son of the Father, is lifted up and crucified so that all may live. Whenever we receive our Lord in the Eucharist, we must allow Him to truly transform us. In today's homily, Msgr. Magee reminds us of the Gospel's message for all of us, which is "HUMILITY". The scripture invites us to look at what true humility is, and what it is not. Being humble means knowing and thanking God for the gift of who we are, for the nature that He has given us, as a man or as a woman, and the place He has put us in this world. He gives a wonderful example of humility that comes from St. Theresa, the Little Flower. Thinking of the world as a garden, she says the the saints are represented by the lilies and the roses, while we, the majority of the garden is made up of the wildflowers, such as violets and daisies. In today's Gospel, Jesus reminds us that the way to his kingdom is very narrow, and we must constantly guard our actions and maintain our relationship with the Father through prayer. Msgr. Magee tells us that this parable is a warning to all those who really do not want God and can't be bothered by his will. There is a decision placed before each and every one of us, to choose to be the Lord's disciple, or not. Our job is to focus on the mission of our life, not everyone else's. In today's homily, Deacon Mace reminds us of the importance of hospitality, and in welcoming family, friends, and strangers. In today's gospel, we meet Martha and Mary, who are happy to see Jesus and welcome Him to their home. Martha is concerned with hospitality and "details", but Mary listens to Jesus with an open mind and heart . The gospel says that Mary has chosen the better way, to be present and listen to the Lord. Deacon Mace suggests that we invite Jesus into our homes and into our daily lives, but we must speak with Him about our concerns, our hopes, anxieties, our worries and joys. In today's homily, Msgr. McCormac discusses Jesus's words to His followers. Known as the "Bread of Life Discourse", Jesus makes clear that as believers, we are to eat His Body and drink His Blood. He knew these words were too much for some of His followers, but continued to explain that anyone who eats His body and drinks His blood, even though they would die, would live forever with Him in heaven. This beautiful teaching, which sets our Catholic Church apart from our separated christian brothers and sisters, is a beautiful gift that Jesus leaves to His people. When we say "amen" at communion time, we say "YES", we believe that the same wafer has been changed into the body of Christ. In today's homily, Msgr. McCormac reminds us of the Jesus's words in today's Gospel, "Repent and Believe the Good News". He then asks, what is the good news? The good news is that Jesus's forgiveness is for everyone, through His passion, death and resurrection. The key to the good news is repentance. This Lenten season is an opportunity to reflect and acknowledge that we are sinners, and to be reconciled with our Lord through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). That unclean spirit was from the devil himself, who is actively trying to claim our souls away from God. Just as in Jesus' time, our world is caught in a struggle between the kingdom of light and goodness, and the kingdom of darkness led by the devil himself. Through His victory on the cross, Jesus conquers death, and proves that He will always prevail over the prince of darkness. Today, we welcome Father Victor Bohan, CSsR, a Redemptorist priest who made a missionary appeal to our parish. Father's religious order, the Polish-Redemptorists in the East has been working in the former Soviet Union for 30 years. At presents, they have five pastoral centers in Russia, one in Kazakhstan, five in Belarus, and one in Ukraine. Please continue to pray for his ministry, the work of his order, and all missionaries who work to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to all parts of the world.
