All combat and supportunits withdrew from Vietnam following the war, but it continued to have animpact on many of the families and people affected by the war.

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is acknowledged on March29 every year, honoring anyone who served during its 20-year time. Sincerespect and combat support wasn’t immediately given to those who served afterthe war ended because of the number of deaths, the day was founded in 2017 tofinally offer that respect to everyone involved.

The mission of the 82nd Airborne Division is to, within 18 hours of notification, strategically deploy, conduct forcible entry parachute assault and secure key objectives for follow-on military operations in support of U.S. national interests.

The 82nd Airborne Division is an active airborne infantry division of the United States Army specializing in joint forcible entry operations. Based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the 82nd Airborne Division is the primary fighting arm of the XVIII Airborne Corps. The 82nd Division was constituted in the National Army on August 5th, 1917, and was organized on August 25th, 1917, at Camp Gordon, Georgia. Since its initial members came from all 48 states, the unit acquired the nickname "All American," which is the basis for its famed “AA” shoulder patch.

We had an awesome opportunity to sit down with MG Matt McFarlane and CSM Adam Nash, command team for 4th Infantry Division and U.S. Army Fort Carson to talk about the unique and wonderful things the division is doing for our Army. MG McFarland expressed getting the formation to understand the peaks and valleys in life and wanted their peak to be higher. He also mentioned “Be an expert at what you do!" The positive energy he and the CSM expressed to me has the “Ivy Division” on a phenomenal pace to continue meeting the needs of our Army.
