I am a writer who discovered that I can use my voice to tell my stories. I can speak them. This has liberated my aching soul. Just to be able to release them out into the universe.
If anything cab go wrong it will is what I'm learning. I'm experiencing and extreme learning curve and life keeps lifing along the way. It don't stop and won't stop all while I'm getting prepared to organize my home and start a new online class. It's all overwhelming.I'm checking in with an update on all the juice details. ๐โค๐ฏ still loving the process ๐๐ฅ
I've been on a wild ride of investing in myself. I'm enjoying that journey and it's inspiring me to step up my game in all facets of life. I recalled a few stories about my son's bullies, my bullies and how I learned exactly what to do to get bullies to stop bullying me or my son. I feel every parent should be armed with knowing exactly how to conquer a bully. I learned as a child, taught my children and I share these stories to prove to everyone that a bully needs to be set straight quickly and with precision ๐โค๐ฏ
I've been on the most wonderful journey of exploration and discovery in these internet streets. I've suddenly been able to unlock the secrets to monetizing on Facebook and YouTube. It's not for the weak. I'm working very tediously on making it happen and thought it ideal to chronicle my triumphs & setbacks as I embark on one of the most difficult ventures I've have ever moved in. Wish me luck ๐๐ฝ and pray for me. ๐๐ฏโค๐๐พ
I am coming into my own as a content creator on Facebook and YouTube. I've had some trials but, all in all, the trajectory looks excellent. I'll continue to create content here as much as I can because this is my safe space to get the thoughts out of my head and onto a tangible medium. All paths are leading me to my ultimate aspiration in life. Making movies ๐ฌ For right now I'm still ecstatic about starting with social media then building it into something special. I hope people do come along for the ride. As I build my social media & movie empire ๐๐ฏโค
I'm looking forward to where this new journey takes me. I hope to be a light along the way. It's hard but I know I can do this. I'm dedicated and worthy. I'm ready.
I tell this story of when one moment changed my stepson's outlook on how to invest in himself.
It's alarming at best to know what we all know now about the pitfalls of being a working child actor in the midst of work, fame, sex, drugs & rock-n-roll. It's sll too many blurred lines.
Issa Rae wrote, produced and starred in 'Insecure' on HBO. She was the reason I paid a year's subscription for Masterclass and I got Shonda Rhimes as a super bonus last year. I learned so much. Love is Blind reunion was amazing. Loved everything about it.
I'm so here for all the drama on season 6 of Love is Blind on Netflix. I have a lot of major life changes happening all ar once. It's a lot. I'm trying to work through and process it all while keeping the joy in my heart as I grunt through some of the hardest moments of my life. I'm doing it with a little overdrive of pouting into myself to prepare for my next great adventure.
Everything I've done so far has been because I have an ambitious dream of becoming a writer and director one day. It seemed to lofty a goal at one point but I've been studying anyway. Even I felt I couldn't or wasn't talented enough I still moved forward. I told myself that if the time is gonna go by anyway then I might as well just do what I love even if nothing comes of it. Well I've been doing that. This podcast has been me practicing yelling a concise story. My Facebook group page has been me finding my voice and possible audience. My youtube channel has been me working editing. It's all for a reason. Now the season has begun to put pen to page, to create the world I've dreaming up in my head and prepare it so it cab finally come to fruition as a Netflix comedy drama series. I can't wait to take everyone along for that journey.
Being single is uncharted territory for me. I've been in a relationship since I was 19 years old. Lord help me navigate through. I've had to learn and acclimate quickly because I'm learning people will take advantage if you let them. It's sad but true. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and I'm sure people aren't being malicious but I'm just not used to this.
I've left my relationship of 30 years. We met when I was 19 and he was 32. I literally fell head over heals, sight unseen. We were gonna go on a double date with my best friend and her manager from LACCMA. He said he had a friend who was recently single. I told him he could give him my number. He hadn't called for a month but when he did I was impressed because he wasn't a pushover like all the guys I was dating. He had backbone. I loved it ๐ โค๏ธ We went on our blind date (before the internet & social media) on October 11, 1993 and have been together ever since. We've lived an amazing life together โค๏ธ Unfortunately, that chapter is over ๐
It took me almost a month to publish this because my life had suddenly unbearable to say the least. I had no idea what to do at the time but it's the week before New Year 2024 and I left. I'm never going back and I get to write a whole new adventure to the chapters that have been my life in a relationship since I was 19 yrs old. I'm happier than I've ever been in a long time. I'm still processing it all.
Lovev is Blind and other shows like it have become cultural phenomenon. It's so intriguing to watch people take the bull by the horns to find lasting love. It seems odd to find it through a reality TV program but it works for far many more people than anyone could've anticipated. Along the way we get to connections made, people getting vulnerable and people experiencing a whirlwind of emotions rapidly and in concentration. It's all beautifully fascinating when 2 souls collide, fall in love then marry. This season is pretty bad ass because it just takes you there to the depths of every single emotion you can have sitting down Watching TV.
Every we struggle to keep positive. Life has so many twists and turns that's its hard to keep up. Our mission can be to pull the positive out no matter how hard. Some have it so much harder that counting our blessings is the only to know for sure we are truly blessed everyday despite life's twists and turns ๐๐ฏโค๏ธ
This is a trigger based on my previous experience with the false premise of sisterhood on a Facebook group page. I believe in showing support for as many black people as I possibly can but I've noticed people do not reciprocate that same sentiment. The one crazy thing about social media is it shows you when people visit your profiles. People will go to your profiles and not like a thing. They won't comment. They won't subscribe but will still ask you to support them. My answer is no if you can't just support me too. What do I look like? You don't get something for nothing. I hate to have to be the one to say it but before today I haven't seen nit a single like from your name. Not 1. What does that tell me? It tells me your true character. So no. I'm not supporting without a tiny inference of support back.
I was watching the Variety channel's youtube and watched Jennifer Coolidge interview Jeremey Allen. It's a series about actors interviewing actors. I was immensely intrigued about their conversation about their own insecurities even though they are so immensely talented. It made me think about my own struggles with how I feel I do when it comes to my work.
She's my best friend who is now joining the rest of the world in enjoying social media. She has a unique sense of humor that makes all of us laugh and we are excited to share it with the rest of the world even though it causes so much controversy. It kinda makes it even funnier. We are having a ball watching the adverse reactions. It's just this woke culture is too hyper-vigilant and they just need to lighten up. Life isn't that serious and yall all need to learn how to take a step back and laugh more ๐ฏ
I believe this is one of my most heartfelt episodes. I remember a few books I've read like White Fragility that were extremely poignant in making the distinction about being an advocate. How there are people who believe themselves to be those that embrace all people yet they've not become more aware of how that is done. More importantly everyone is entitled to have their own unique perspective based on their life experience. I just hope we can practice mindfulness more often when it comes to our influence and the possibility of that influence possibly putting people in harm's way.
Man child run a muck with no checks or balances to his egregious misogynistic, gluttonous, self glorifying behavior that has so fat been encouraged because he's a rich white man and thats makes sense to our society because why not.... right? Until you are collateral damage in his plot to overthrow our government?
I began with announcing my new video podcast with co-host Andre Escobar which led me into realizing how imperative it is to find a way to pass down traditions in unique ways because we aren't living the same kind lives as our immigrant parents and the impact of not being able to hear someone's voice after they have passed away.
I've officially recorded my first video podcast which will be posted on my YouTube channel 'Conversations with Dannette' YAY! ๐โค๏ธ๐ฏ
This podcast is a reflection, not a production. I speak from the heart โค and off the cuff.
I lost a beautiful human soul way too soon. He was killed in a car accident on the 401 freeway right after being signed as a music producer for Sony Records.
I'm in a better place now and realize this was a moment in time that did pass. Hinesight is so 20/20. I'm grateful to be beyond it (for now) ๐ฏ
My job at UPS is not what I'm used to but I plan to stick it out. My late best friend visits me in my dreams, I remember how extremely afraid I was of Leah Remini when we were pledging in a high school sorority at L.A. High and I recount one of biggest events of my life; my sweet 16th birthday that changed the trajectory of my life.
I've experienced a lot of adverse reactions from people surrounding conversations we've had during the aftermath of Will Smith's slap at the 2022 Oscar's show. Everyone strong opinions and everyone is entitled to their opinion. We need to learn to exercise more respect and I hope Will & Chris use this opportunity to show how people can move forward from even the worst of interactions with each other.

I feel compelled to bring greater context to my position about 2 major events that happened in my life involving my cousins that have kept me basically estranged from my family. Its been over 20 years and I have moved on with my life but the pain is still very real and does run deep so its important to just address it now so that its out in the universe as my truth.
I woke up from a nightmare so vivid that l thought I was going to hell as if I just died. It was so vivid, so scary, so seemingly real that I can't help but think it a message of some kind. I won't say I don't know. I do know. I denied God. My parents taught me better and I did it anyway. It was the worst thing I could do as a child of God. I have to tell you that God is so real. I know this from the bottom of my heart. Now I believe hell is real too. It isn't some fiery pit in the middle of the earth or something like that but it's the kind of hell that compels you to exist in the harshest of conditions where your brain and your body ache in an unending cycle. Where everyone around you is a shell of a person and is being controlled by a menacing something that forces you into a perpetual action of movement you don't want to do, saying things you don't want to say and torturing you every second you are there. My deception was received by God and I caught a glimpse of what a real hell felt like. I never ever want to go back there again.ย
Can't wait to start Season 2. I look forward to learning, growing and creating better content. Thank you to everyone who takes time to come listen โฅ๏ธ๐ฏ

In my last episode I didn't finish my point about how we can make things better within our justice system. I thought it so important to finish that point and touch on how I would like to spend my energy putting more positive energy out into the universe than negative energy. It's so important to me that I have to make sure my podcast reflects that sentiment. I enjoy this process so much that I do plan on switching gears to focus on what brought me here in the first place. That is to begin the process of writing my books. I have two important concepts that mean the world to me. I will begin walking in that direction moving forward. My next episode will launch SEASON 2 of ' Conversations with Dannette'. I'm so excited to get started.
Even after the conviction of Derek Chauvin people on social media are continuing to spread disparaging lies about George Floyd. We have to do better. I hope to be one of the catalysts for change. If just by someone hearing how silly it sounds to repeat lies that can be easily disproven. Knowledge is power and we have to help educate the misinformed.

It's been difficult to realize how many cynics are out there making excuses after we all witnessed his murder. It truly saddens me when people have no sympathy or reduce him to criminal. This was a man who had people who loved him. There are no words to describe the hurt felt when people make light of what happened to him.
This was the second time I've been in Facebook jail ๐คฃ๐ I can't be too upset. It is what it is.

I had a lengthy conversation about why I believe we should have stricter gun laws. Many people just believe the assertions that more gun laws don't bring down crime rates and that is far from the truth.
I have noticed throughout my experiences on social media how quickly conversations digress into personal attacks. Here's an example of how a bad conversations can be turned around if personal attacks aren't used to make a point.

I believe people need to show up more for each other. If WE as a community are working to become better, part of that is supporting one another and then reciprocating that support. That's the problem I had with a previous group and it's the problem I see in this current group. You can't ask me for my support them blatantly refuse to support me. Why support you if you have no plans on reciprocating it?? Let's get real.

I was so pissed when I saw the comment that a criminal was now a hero. I had to go in. Then when the commenter positioned George Floyd as having died of a drug overdose I just had to take him to school. It's what I do.
I had a visceral reaction to hearing Meghan's experiences within the royal family. It's sad, it's eye opening but it's also a testimony to how fear has played a role inside the closed doors of powerful people. They feed off of fear, they reign supreme because of fear and they cannot see themselves existing if they didn't continue to perpetuate fear.

I'm not sure why a woman would ever be positioned as weaponizing sex but every woman has the right to have sex when she feels loved and safe. In my opinion if a woman is withholding sex then it has a lot to do with men's behavior. Sometimes men need to catch a case of 'act-right' and I personally won't have sex with you if you don't know how to act. Periodt!๐๐พ

Podcasting has been interesting so far. I'm learning where people stand on what I'm doing. I'm experiencing some growing pains. I'm working on developing a thicker skin. I guess when you really care about something you have to learn to fight for it.

This second part includes when our conversation went off topic and we began talking about affirmative action.
So many people are creating funny memes on social media about the irony of Rush Limbaugh dying during black history month and white people are just not understanding.
If I didn't make this post that wouldn't be very honest. I don't believe people are discardable. I value every person I encounter and I do that because I do onto others as I would have others do onto me.
Too often people use their speculation as weapons. Tessica Brown is a perfect example of why that's so wrong. She is a real person and seem to lose sight of that.

My entire life has been lived understanding that I am not for everyone. I do wonder sometimes why black people in particular have been so unwelcoming toward me at times. I thought it important to share my feelings behind these rejections but also show people how it doesn't have to rob you of your joy.
I am the constant devil's advocate. I don't personally have a horse in this race, I feel disappointed that women cannot see how imperative it is to be a big sister, in other words, and just embrace the young ladies that are coming up behind us.

With so much misinformation there has to be a place where the truth and information within it's context can be shared. People have got to stop spreading misinformation when it takes literally 2 minutes to research and find the truth.
This was an ongoing conversation I was happening on a private local 1977 union carpenter's page on Facebook.
I am always still shocked about what I hear coming out people's mouths today. I'm not used to it and it is so counterintuitive to things I know for sure that I'm not sure why people can be so led by the nose this way then call themselves critical thinkers.
It seems as if people have only just recently understood that our country is a Republic. Yep if you were paying attention in poli-sci you would know this BUT now people are saying our country isn't a Democracy. Smh
I never really talk about Candice. I try not to judge but I believe she has used her ability to be a great orator as a weapon against blacks to placate the ideologies of the right.
I have so many contentious and controversial conversations on social media. This one was no exception. What's different with me is we usually are able to end the conversation on a positive note.

I really did learn that day through that conversation. It is the perfect example of how conversations teach.
I've had many viral posts or comments but this one in particular really demonstrates the power of a good conversation.
I've had too many times where what I say gets misconstrued because people are so used to just having preconceived notions about people. I started recording because I needed that to stop hindering my conversations.
So many good people have been victimized by a billionaire who has lied for so long and has surrounded himself with so many 'yes' men that we must call it out. He abandoned those who he rallied to fight for him. Little did they know he would deem them disposable if they didn't succeed.
I've literally spent most of my adult life raising children. It's about time I start focusing on my personal goals.
