I talk about the power of being aware of your dyslexia for more than just October (Dyslexia Awareness Month).
That actually having awareness everyday of what dyslexia affects, is one of the most important things we can do.
In fact the definition that resonates the most is "Neurodiversity is a difference in cognitive processing that affects learning, attention, mood, sociability and communication".
So it really does affect all areas of your life, and being able to be aware of that everyday is the key to feeling calmer and happier.

Dyslexia can make maintaining relationships tough.
It can cause misunderstandings and communication difficulties, which can lead to arguments and tension.
Dyslexia can also make it hard to express emotions, which can make it difficult to connect with others on a deeper level.
A dyslexic partner may find it difficult to recall appointments or meetings, estimate how long a task will take, or read and write.
This can lead to confusion and frustration for the non-dyslexic partner, especially if the couple lives together or is raising children.
If you have dyslexia, it is important, to be honest with your partner about your condition and to ask for help when you need it.
Love always finds its way, and dyslexia is not a hindrance to that.

How do you feel about telling someone you are dyslexic?
It can be scary, and it can feel like a huge thing to disclose, I get it.
But actually, if you can tell someone that you are dyslexic and you need some extra time, or you need some help or you need information in a different way - it will empower you so much more.
You see when we don’t tell people, we end up in a state of fear or anxiety, worried that we will make a mistake, worried that we will get something wrong, worried that they will think we are dumb.
If you can tell the other person you are dyslexic, it free’s you from that fear. It means they know what is going on and what you need. This was the advice I gave my son before he went on his travels - that it is better to say he is dyslexic rather than try to hide it.

Lots of people have no idea that being blunt is actually a trait of dyslexia.
I find myself saying the wrong thing and putting my foot in it all the time and it doesn't always feel great if I'm honest.
I don't mean to get it so wrong but my brain is moving so fast that I've had conversations in my head that haven't actually happened and then, when I say what I'm thinking I find I've skipped ahead and end up upsetting the other person.
Have you ever experienced this?

Dyslexia affects the way information is processed, stored, and retrieved, with problems of memory, speed of processing, time perception, organisation, and sequencing.
People who suffer from dyslexia can also suffer from poor time management.
Time is a linear concept, and many dyslexic people do not enjoy linear thinking.

The time suck of chatbots, sending messages, and emails - these are things that are just so frustrating as an adult dyslexic!
This week, I spent so long trying to do a task and it was so hard for my dyslexic brain, I just couldn't get the questions out, or put into words what I wanted. I find it so much easier to talk to someone, to ask a question.
Having to try and work out what I need to say to get the right answer is really time-consuming.
I notice so many websites are wanting you to connect via messenger, send an email, or read the FAQs (no thank you!).

One of the things I struggle with as an adult dyslexic is remembering to make appointments when I need them.
Often I can’t remember to make an appointment until the very last minute.
Luckily my hairdresser is a wonderful person who understands that I struggle with this.
Usually we make the next appointment before I leave. However at my last appointment I couldn’t do that, and now here I am trying desperately to get an appointment before I head off on holiday.
This is one of the ways that my dyslexia really does interfere with my life!.

You may not realise that being dyslexic can affect your sense of direction, not only your left and right but also your ability to orientate your body in space!
What do I mean by that?
Well, there is so much for a dyslexic person to process in an exercise class, the verbal instructions can happen so quickly, and we have to try and work out what the instructions are… And then work out our left and right, front, back, up and down.
These are things that we can really struggle with, and for me this is an area where my dyslexia still shines through.
This week I ended up the wrong way completely on the Pilates machine! The good news is that I am no longer embarrassed by this, I just laugh it off and know that it is my dyslexic brain struggling with all the information, not that I am stupid or useless at Pilates!

I had to tell the IRD/Tax department about my Dyslexia today, and do you know what, it actually made me feel good about being an adult dyslexic!
I had worked really hard to get all the paperwork and information I needed - only to forget to attach them to the email! Duh!
However, I shared that being dyslexic meant that I missed out on this important piece of information. Because I was able to understand why I missed this step, I could remove the negative internal dialogue.
Being this honest with an organisation like the IRD (Tax Dept) felt like a big step…but actually, they were lovely and made it all really easy.

This week I talk about how my super fast dyslexic (and ADD) mind finds it sooooo hard to NOT buy things.
I know that I don’t need another skirt, or pair of shoes…But because I connect so much to the visual picture of me wearing it, I then find that I convince myself I need it.
Boom before I know it I have purchased.
There is another side to this which is instant gratification and how delaying that can be hard, but that’s another video!

Have you ever been on holiday and thought that you have heaps and heaps of time to get everything done before you go and then discovered you actually didn't!?
That's exactly where I am right now!
I go away on a big 5 week trip in July and every day and every weekend is full to the brim of things to do, but still in my mind I have heaps of time to get my massive to do list completed!
Just because I can read a clock, doesn't mean that I have a good grasp on the passage of time and how much I can actually get done in a finite time period.
How about you?

Do you ever find yourself in the dyslexic doldrums? Feeling unmotivated and disconnected?
It happens to us all, having difficulty finding the next step or feeling confused about what's next can lead to us just not know where to turn.
Feeling like you are stuck, not able to move forward can be such a negative place to be, but knowing that it happens to us all can help us accept it as part of our dyslexic life.
How can you find a way through the doldrums? I've found a way that works for me, will it work for you?

Why do I always have no petrol in my car and what the heck does it have to do with me being dyslexic ?!
There are two reasons why I often leave getting petrol to the last minute, and BOTH of them are down to my dyslexia.
The first is that good old friend time management. Whilst I am no longer late all the time, I often don’t allow enough time to get petrol when it is running low. I allow only enough time to get to the destination and not the 10 - 15 minutes etc that I would need to fill the tank.
The second is down to having no concept of distance, I have no idea how far 17, 7, or 2km’s is. So I think I have quite a lot of petrol to get me on my short journey.
Both of these are the way my brain processes information and my dyslexia!

Many dyslexics struggle with reading, it's the trait that everyone knows and recognises. But it isn't always what people think.
I can actually "read" really well, but often I find that that means with my fast moving brain that I skim read.
This can be a great asset, but it can also mean that I sometimes get totally the wrong meaning from a piece of text.
Today I am talking about how skim reading an email led me to completely misunderstand what was actually being said.

Did you know that being dyslexic means we can visualise an outcome in such detail, that for us it is a reality already? Talking about something means we create visual images/pictures/movies in our mind and we connect emotionally to those.
This is an upside to being dyslexic, but the downside to it is when we are connected with our thoughts of something happening - and we connect to those, rather than the actual event happening (or not) in the real world!
This happened to me in a meeting and after one discussion I had thought the decision was made and would be happening, in the next meeting I was so surprised when the decision was talked about again as maybe happening! Because I understand what happened, I was able to readjust my picture and thus my emotions.
I recorded this week's episode in my kitchen! There seem to be two types of dyslexics... some like to have everything completely tidied away, others like things to be chaotic. For me, if I tidy away the clutter it leaves me calm and ready to get on with the things I need to do!
Working with a dyslexic builder is brilliant! - I have no problems at all working with someone who is dyslexic, especially when it comes to being creative or making something! Our builder and I could stand outside and talk about what we could “see” in our imagination and how the new deck was going to look. The ideas and communication were so much easier because we both talked about the visual picture we could see. Being able to accept your dyslexic strengths and weaknesses was the key, I didn’t expect his written communication to be amazing, or the fact that his Mum did his invoicing was fine with me - because his real talent was in creating something that wasn’t there.
Today I talk about how we can find it hard to relax, find it hard to switch off all those thoughts, ideas and thoughts about what you should be doing ….
Often we can find it so hard to switch off our dyslexic brain, and we don’t recognise that our physical body is tired, until we literally collapse.
This is something I am trying to get better at but it can be so hard to not do all the thoughts that are in my mind!
As dyslexics, we are so visual and super aware of the visual things in our environment. It can be great when we need to remember a restaurant, or where we were on a certain day.. We can describe it like we are there again (we are in our imagination but that’s for another day!)
BUT it also means we get so easily distracted by things that are out of place, or look out of place or keep drawing our attention away from what we are supposed to be doing.
For me it's crooked pictures, odd coloured candles or things that are not symmetrical. I’m completely unable to focus until I have moved the offending item, or straightened them!. It can make me seem so anal, which is crazy really as my mind is chaotic!
Let’s look at reading and dyslexia. It’s usually one of the first things we think about when we say "I’m dyslexic".
I managed my way through school and the workplace (albeit with a lot of stress and mistakes) by reading in a dyslexic way.
What do I mean by that… I mean my dyslexic brain used its visual talent and I recognise words, I can say words - but ask me to remember, or even understand what I have just read?
Then you will see my dyslexia in all its glory!
Have you ever been stuck in the dyslexic doldrums? That space between wanting to create and be productive but not having the structure in place to make it happen?
This week I'm looking at how important is for me to have a structure around which to be creative. I'm full of ideas and I have no shortage of knowledge to share, but sometimes having a blank page can feel overwhelming and difficult.
But as soon as I have a structure around which I can work, the magic happens. How about you?
Today I talk about my struggles with technology! I know we all have those days when technology seems to be against us, but for me that seems to be every day!
I can make a computer or a TV do something that no-one has ever seen before seemingly at the touch of a button, but recently I have been thinking about why this is?
Is it connected to my dyslexia? Let's chat about it.
What happens when two dyslexics attempt a DIY project? Well I have to say you get a bit of magic! This weekend my son and I helped transform an entranceway for a friend.
The reason it went so well is because of our understanding of our own minds. My son is very dyslexic, as am I, but we do have different strengths and weaknesses. Not every dyslexic is the same or has the same challenges. My strength was visualising it, and seeing how it could look and what to use to achieve that - my weakness was how long it would take and how to attach the bamboo.
My son's challenge was not seeing what it would look like at the end - but his strength was the detail of each step and seeing what needed to happen. Once you understand your challenges and your talent, it makes life much easier!
Today I talk about how it can be tiring to be dyslexic - and it's not just reading or spelling that can make our brain feel tired. Trying to get our brain to do something that isn’t natural does mean it takes us a lot of concentration and energy.
Our brains naturally see the bigger picture, make connections, jump from one thing to the next quickly. Remember our processing of visual images is around 32 images per second (word thought is 5 words per second).
So wrangling our brain to focus on one task, or stay with what needs to be done now can be tiring. The answer is to work with this … Allow yourself that freedom of thought, and then bring your mind to what needs to be done, or the steps you need to take.
Knowing that your brain does get more tired by seemingly “simple” tasks means you can learn ways to work with your brain.
I had a conversation the other day around the characteristics of dyslexia.
I was asked a question, in a supportive way, the question was “ doesn’t everyone experience that ?”
It’s a valid question, but as an adult with Dyslexia/ADD it certainly is frustrating.
A couple of mis-spelled words does not make up for a life-time of feeling inadequate in your writing.
Being late a few times is not the same as that panic as you realise that you are never going to make that important meeting, again…
If you have someone who questions your diagnosis (even if it’s a self diagnosis) here is something you can reply with….
It is actually about the effect of those symptoms and the severity and the frequency, that is the difference between someone with Dyslexia/ADD or a neurotypical person.

This week I look at how hard it is to practice self care.
I know that, for me there are a few layers to this, one of which is self care means I’m being selfish - but that is a video for another time.
The other is how we are always rushing - always feeling like we don’t have enough time.
Taking 45 minutes out of my day to go for a walk on the beach made me so much more productive and motivated.
But boy did I have a battle in my head “I don’t have enough time to do this, I have so much work to do, I can’t go for a walk…. Etc etc”
Realising how much stress we feel everyday due to our different perception of time, and a lifetime of always not getting everything done in time, means we always feel under pressure.
However taking myself out of that spiral and giving myself those 45 minutes actually meant I got loads more done!
Does anyone else struggle with this?
So I have discovered that I am constantly surprised by life!
Yep all the time!
This was a realisation I had after talking to Becky (one of the founders of Truth About Dyslexia) about a situation that was changing and how I was surprised by that.
Her comment of “but surely you thought about that, and how it was going to be” made me realise that I hadn’t at all.
This can be a good thing and a challenge.
It means that we don’t always see the obvious connection or next step, or how it will pan out, which can be so frustrating and can cause all sorts of problems - BUT it does also mean that we can just accept the situation, and not worry too much about the outcome or the what if’s.
Does this happen to you?
As dyslexics we do not naturally think with words!
So when we are communicating with people it can really cause problems if we have a different idea/feeling or even visual image of what a word may mean.
I was reminded of this during the week.
We were in a meeting and I couldn’t get why the others weren’t as enthusiastic or as on board with my idea. In fact they seemed to be a bit resentful, I was so blindsided by this.
After the emotions had calmed down I realised that they had a different feeling and picture for the word equal.
It really reminded me that the best thing we can say to a Dyslexic is, “what is your picture for that?” Or “what is the feeling attached to that word?”.
This way you can find out at the start if you have different images/ideas or feelings!
I really admire people that are so definite and certain and can know for sure what decision is best for them.
In this video I look at why we can struggle with this and also how dyslexics can have good intuition, but how often we struggle to see the one clear path, or one clear decision.

As an adult dyslexic there are lots of different characteristics and behaviours that I have adapted over the years. Knowing when to say no, is really difficult for me.
Wanting to do everything, not let people down... wanting to keep everyone happy. It is so exhausting and whilst this is a trait that other people can have too - I believe it is more prevalent in dyslexics.
If you have watched some of my videos before, you will know that dyslexics experience time differently.
Time is definitely one of our biggest challenges! I decided not to buy a diary for 2022, after all the years I have of diaries that are half completed in my cupboard, this was the year to change that.
But then I realised how much I need a month overview to "see" where I am in the month and the act of writing on a monthly overview actually helps me get a sense of time.
What happens when your dyslexic brain and friendships collide?
For me I am at each end of a massive spectrum here.
I love making connections and having close friends - but I really struggle to do the simple things that a friendship needs.
It’s not from lack of caring, it’s just that I can get distracted by work, family or other people.
Out of sight out of mind is so true for me and it is knowing this about myself that means I can also try and explain it to my friends!
So this week I share with you my experience of "nailing a simple job" - well it was a simple job to my quick visual dyslexic mind!
It’s at times like this when I realise how far I have come in my dyslexic journey. A few years ago I would have got myself so stressed about getting this job done, and felt such a failure for not being able to work it out.
However now I simply use our Sorting Tool (which is one of our Organised Dyslexic products) and I understand that, me not being able to hang a pair of curtains is not that big of a deal!

Dyslexia means that we have this amazing ability to visualise... it is so natural for us to do, we don't even realise that we think like this.
But what happens when we start this process and get lost in our dyslexic thoughts ?
It means we can create such a real, intense picture in our mind, that we then start to feel like the imagined scenario is real.
We start to believe that what we are thinking about will actually happen - and it changes how we feel about a situation.
Once you realise that your brain does this, you can start to learn how regonise when it is happening and then you can to use it to your advantage.
We have a name for this at Truth About Dyslexia - it’s called the Visual Emotional Vortex!.

It’s that silly time of the year isn't it?
Being dyslexic means we can find it so hard to get organised, get all the jobs done that we need to and not go into Christmas completely frazzled and exhausted!
Do you know that dyslexia means that we find it really really hard to manage our time and also to work out just what we can get done ?
I have been using the To Do List Bingo we created and it is definitely helping !.
So let’s be kind to ourselves as we head into the silly season.
You can find the To Do List Bingo by clicking on the link below - it’s only $7 right now, so it can be your little Christmas present to yourself!

Today I share with you my recent online shopping experiences - and what happens when we use our amazing visual imagination to choose our purchases.
Sometimes it can work out really well… but other times not so much!
Our amazing minds can visualise things in such detail, that often we can feel that it is real - even when it might not actually be!
I’m going to tell you about my shopping experience and how I was buying clothes for my life as it was 10 years ago - and it felt completely natural and current, until the clothes turned up!
Today I look at how, while there are many positives to being dyslexic, those old negative thought patterns and beliefs can still catch me out.
Those moments where you have double booked, forgotten something or like me think you have more time than you do.
They still happen, but it is how we react to it, that is the real key to being confident and capable.
This week I share how I did feel bad about a mix up with time management and how immediately I blamed myself, I took on the guilt and went straight into the old critiquing voice in my head.
Thankfully, now, I don’t do this too often - but I did want to share that even though I fully believe and know being dyslexic is amazing - it’s not always a bed of roses!
As dyslexic’s we can have such amazing ideas, or visions of how we want something to look or be. The problem is because we can see everything so clearly in our mind, we see all the details and know exactly how it should all look. It can be super hard for us to get past this vision, or idea and create something that doesn’t match it perfectly. Being like this means we can get derailed, or take an extraordinary amount of time to get the work finished, as we are trying to get it to match the vision we can see in our dyslexic imagination.
Dyslexia is such a contradiction of symptoms… I can spell well but maths is a nightmare for me. I know other dyslexics who really struggle with spelling but are great at Maths. One of the contradictions of Dyslexia is we can have incredibly good common sense, or street smarts, or we are superb at reading people. The flip side is we can be incredibly naive and just not see the obvious pitfalls or problems that others do. Realising why I did this has really helped me embrace my naivety and see it as a good thing!
This week, I share how I went from sitting in bed on Saturday morning frantically trying to finish work, and feeling completely overwhelmed and rubbish about how little I had to achieved…To using a simple technique to get tasks done AND change my mindset from one of failure to I finished it!. I share how my dyslexia means I always think I can do more than I actually can and how that affects our motivation and self esteem.
If you want to know how to use this technique, in conjunction with other tools we have - click on the link below for our Organising Your Day: A guide for adult dyslexics Course. It will change your life!

You know what ? It takes a real talent to be late to an online meeting in lockdown.
I mean all you have to do is turn your computer on and attend.
Well welcome to dyslexia and how much it affects our sense of time!.
I had to laugh when I was 15 mins late to an online meeting, there was no traffic to negotiate, parking spaces to find, bus schedules, nope just me having to go to my office. In this episode I look at how being dyslexic affects our sense of time, and the knock on effects of that.
I hope you enjoy it!
So anyone else lose their car in car parks ?
Do you just have a complete blank on where you parked ?
Ever wander around a car park looking more and more desperate as you try to find where you parked ?.
This used to happen to me all the time!. I have got much better at using my dyslexic brain to help me remember where I parked, but there are times where it still gets me.
Today I explore how we can do the opposite of what we want to do and mean to do.
That moment when your phone has the hang up and answer icons on your front screen, your computer asks you do you want to update now or later!.
What it is about these simple questions that cause that jam in our brain - and often lead us to doing the opposite of what we wanted to?
Being dyslexic means we think visually, we think with our imaginations.
This can be a huge talent and most of the time it is great I love it.
However every now and then it can be really difficult.
You see when we have pictured how something is going to work out, what you will be doing, or what you are going to achieve - it can be really stressful when that doesn’t happen, or when it changes.
I experienced this when Auckland (NZ) went into lockdown very quickly and unexpectedly.
Understanding that our mind has pictured something in lots of detail, and we have connected our motivation to that picture can mean we find it hard when it doesn’t happen as we pictured it.
Texting and dyslexia can make an interesting combination.
Here I talk about how easy it is to misread a text, and how I spent around an hour rearranging a meeting.
As a dyslexic our brain processes information so much faster than we can read.
Often we skip words, scan read or just don’t understand what we have read.
This means we can get the meaning wrong!.
As someone who understands my dyslexia, I realise why this has happened BUT that doesn’t mean that I don’t make mistakes !!
This episode follows on from last week, where I talked about how hard it can be for us to start a task or finish a task.
This week I am exploring more about how much I need to see the big picture, see what the end picture will look like.
It started when I was in a business meeting, and I realised I was asking questions and asking more questions trying to get all the details I needed.
I share that I realise I often ask lots of questions, or will ask for lots of details - the purpose behind this is we need to see the end result, or the bigger picture.
We can then use this to motivate us - Instead of getting overwhelmed by where to start, I thought about what it would look and feel like when (the boxes) a task was finished.
This is tapping into the way our mind works and understanding why we need details or need to ask questions.
Being aware of how your mind works, is the way to stop dyslexia being a negative in your life.
Today I talk about changing wardrobes, and unpacking boxes - why ?
Because I am sharing what is going on in my life. How my dyslexia affects getting things done. How our brains naturally see the big picture, and everything that needs to be completed, or finished - and that ability is such a talent.
BUT it can also mean we get completely overwhelmed by not knowing where to start.
Often for our dyslexic minds, starting can be one of the hardest parts, as we just don’t know which action/task or piece to tackle first.
The thought of this creates such confusion or overwhelm that often we then put off or avoid.
This is a trait of both dyslexia and ADD and crosses over into both conditions.
This week I talk about how hard it is for me as a dyslexic to get my head around measurements and numbers.
How you experience your dyslexia is different for every person.
For me spelling isn’t a problem.
I see how the word looks in my mind (rather than use sounds to work it out).
But numbers are a whole different kettle of fish!
Here I talk about how hard it is to do a simple task - measuring a kitchen.
Seriously !!! It was like trying to put an octopus in a bag!.
Knowing what I do now about Dyslexia, I look at a lot of my family behaviours in a different way.
So much of our personality is linked to our dyslexia.
For my parents time, being on time, time management has always been such a struggle.
It is well known if you want my parents to turn up on time somewhere, you tell them 45 minutes earlier than you need them!. It has been joked about my whole life… Of course now I can see why.
My mother and my father are both definitely strong visual thinkers and I would say are undiagnosed as Dyslexic/ADD.
This week I reflect on how this means you don’t naturally learn a sense of time - and doubly so if you are not getting that learning in your home environment.
This week has been chaos in my house.
We are having renovations done and there is mess everywhere.
I had no idea how this was going to affect me, but it's been huge.
It's been a while since my dyslexia affected me as much as it has this last week, and I have been reminded that being dyslexic is really a part of us. It doesn't just go away.
Being at my dyslexic worst this week has meant that I have made mistakes, felt overwhelmed and chaotic and it's been really tough.
I used to feel like this ALL THE TIME but have created so much change in my life that this is a really unusual situation for me now.
However, realising that being surrounded by chaos is not good for me and my dyslexia has been a real revelation. I need a calm environment to feel centered and focused.
It's been really good to put things in perspective this week and see how far I have come.
Dyslexia means we can make mistakes that can seem so stupid from the outside.
In this weeks episode, I talk about something that hasn’t happened to me in a while.
Reading a text and getting completely the wrong information.
So wrong, that I went to a different bar to meet my girlfriends!.
Yep - haven’t done that for a while.
It really made me think about how awful and useless this used to make me feel and why this happened to me.
Now I can see that a busy week, and a busy day, meant my dyslexia was worse than usual. I also managed to only feel bad for a short while, before being able to leave the negative thoughts behind.
But it wasn’t always like this. I used to beat myself up all the time over mistakes like this.
Can you relate? Let me know.
Check out the upcoming webinar at the link below - we'd love to see you there, we've so much insight to share and you'll come away with real actions you can take to help you be a more confident dyslexic.
https://go.truthaboutdyslexia.com/webinar
Dyslexia is well known for being a condition that affects reading.
Today I talk about the fact that, even though I can read - sometimes I still get emails that despite reading them four or more times, I STILL don't know what I am supposed to do with them.
This is the frustrating side of adult dyslexia ....
It is so frustrating and upsetting when you are constantly told you are the one in the wrong.
Perhaps you are being made to feel like you've got the information wrong, or your have remembered a conversation differently and or that your version of events is just not right.
As an adult dyslexic, being made to constantly question ourselves can really affect our confidence and make us feel uncertain, and incapable.
Today I talk from the heart about how a throw away comment can cause us so much upset.
I managed a nice walk on the beach and thought I'd share some of the sounds with you at the end of the episode. Close your eyes and transport yourself to a beautiful beach in Auckland!
Do you know that as a dyslexic, not being sure of what is happening actually makes us feel anxious?
Not knowing exactly what is happening, or coming next, puts us into a state where we can feel anything from slightly tense to totally overwhelmed.
In this episode I look at how I noticed this feeling and why, for many dyslexics, it is a something we live with constantly!
This week Vanessa shares her thoughts on the out dated belief that spelling is a sign of focus, intelligence and attention to detail.
Hear how her belief changed, and why it is so important that we get the message out that spelling isn’t the only way to show that someone is professional, dedicated and successful.
As dyslexics we can often feel overwhelmed by all the tasks we think we should or could be doing.
It can be exhausting as we rarely look at what we have already done.
Our minds race off into all the possibilities or ideas for things that we want to create or do.
It’s so tiring, feeling like you are constantly trying to keep up with your thoughts and that you are never actually getting anything done.
This week Vanessa talks about this dyslexic trait, and how changing this thought can help you feel better!.
Did you know that the dyslexic brain has the ability to picture objects in 3-d all the time. A dyslexic can usually visualise in their head an object that they have only seen from one side as a 3-d object. Wow! That's an amazing talent!
It certainly helped Vanessa work out which building she was supposed to be in this week!
If a mistake is made, do you always feel like it's your fault?
Why does this happen, and is there anything you can do about it?
Want to hear a funny story about a trip to the Physio?
Vanessa's got a great one to share!
Relationships are tricky for everyone, but being an adult with dyslexia adds even more to the mix.
Vanessa shares some insight with you.
If you are teaching a teenager to drive, it's pretty important to be able to communication with them super clearly.
Not such an easy thing for a dyslexic Mum to do it turns out!
Are you constantly looking for your keys? or your wallet? or your glasses?
Oh yes, that's a dyslexic trait for sure! By why?
If you find yourself always interrupting people, you'll be pleased to know it has nothing to do with being rude!
Vanessa has struggled with this for years, has she finally cracked it?
Attending an event like a funeral, can be a real challenge when you are a visual and empathic thinker.
Have you ever experienced this?
Do you go blank when faced with writing an important Birthday Card?
Vanessa recently did. Come and hear about the challenges of putting your thoughts on paper when it really matters.
Muddling up your left and right happens to everyone - doesn't it?
If you are an adult with dyslexia, you have probably experienced this. Vanessa certainly has!
Are you always running late? Always feel like you are letting people down?
Why is time such a challenge for adults with dyslexia?
Vanessa can give you a little insight.
Do you use a "to do" list?
Vanessa has had a revelation about why they just don't work for her as an adult dyslexic.
Maybe it's the same for you, come and find out.
Meet Vanessa, she's an adult with dyslexia who didn't realise that was the case until well into her 40's!
Vanessa would love to share with you some of her experiences of being an adult a mother and an educator with dyslexia in a world that just isn't set up the right way.
Come on in!
