Here are some of the nuggets I would like you leave you with before we summarize today’s episode.

Remember that you don’t always have to do what your competition is doing, sometimes instead of a video, it would be better to optimize your website and SEO so when a customer is searching key words on Google you will be as close to page 1 as possible within those search parameters.

If you decide on going with some form of creative, remember that there should be a legitimate return that comes with your investment. If you feel an animation will work for your audience, then great, but I highly advise that you remember, creative can be expanded across a much larger spectrum than just animations, still images or videos.

Auditing your website for mobile, creating blogs, PR posts, or even editing your twitter account could drive traffic and is still viewed as a different form of creative that brings awareness to your company’s product or service.

Don’t feel obligated to follow your competitors and try to avoid that creative FOMO I was talking about earlier. Sometimes a video isn’t what you need when it comes to increasing your company’s presence on digital. Remember that whether you’re a creative service provider or a business owner looking for creative services, it is best to be as transparent as possible. You don’t know what you don’t know and sometimes it could result in confusion when you provide a piece of content, but there is no optimization on the marketing side, so try to be proactive and if you’re on the creative side ask about how the business is trying to promote this piece of content you’re creating for them.

When pitching the need for creative, don’t forget the ship metaphor that I provided earlier. If the ship is the piece of content, the cargo is the product or service the company is providing, and the captain is the marketing team that is responsible for getting the ship or content to its destination or in this case the proper audience.

Here are the nuggets everyone!

  • When you see that your market is over-saturated and you’re trying to grow, you need to take a step back and apply the 80/20 rule to building a business.

  • Focus 80% of your time and budget into making sure the product or plan that you’re selling surpasses your competition not by 10% but at least 80.

  • Once you refine and update whatever you’re trying to sell, focus only 20% of your time and budget to the marketing. Make sure your product appeals to a large audience and think about how you would feel if someone was trying to sell that exact same product to you?

  • If you’re making a product in a particular area that you’re passionate about, that usually means you have some degree of knowledge that surpasses the average consumer. Use your knowledge in the field and educate your customer base on the importance and differences your product has when compared to your competition.

  • Remember, tell a story about why this is meaningful to you. Try to include that story on your packaging so when customers buy your product they see a personal touch from the founder.

Don’t be afraid to show your passion when you promote the product and remember when people buy into a company, they don’t just think about the product, they also lean into the story behind it. So don’t be afraid to share yours.

We went over how there’s an inevitable market correction that’s occurring with these SAS programs due to an over-saturation within certain markets.

We discussed how important it is focus on the 80/20 rule when it comes to establishing your product or service.

80% of your time and budget should be allocated to improving the product, while 20% should be focused on the marketing.

Don’t be afraid to share your knowledge of the industry and the passion that lead to you creating this product.

Let’s address the elephant in the room…going viral is bullshit. Let’s get into it...

The highlights that you should pay attention to in this episode are listed below as followed...

-          Stop asking the question “How do we go viral?” because there are too many unknown factors that come into play when a piece of content goes viral. Rather, shift the question to “How do we keep promoting a consistent message in a unique way?”

-          Remember the 3 main pillars when it comes to a successful digital marketing campaign

o   The Strategy (or message you’re trying to convey to your audience)

o   Analytics (or the data that lets you know who is interested in your product or service)

o   And finally, the Creative (or the distribution method used to promote the message)

If you don’t reinforce these 3 pillars your business will not achieve the goals you have set out for your digital campaign.

On that note, be sure to tune in next Monday when we will discuss click funnel marketing and the digital bubble that’s about to burst.
