In this Episode with Camelia, an inspiring and inspired graphic moroccan illustrator, who mix and match artistic styles with Moroccan culture & identity markers.

She was one of the first moroccan artists, who creates web comics in "Darija" to promote moroccan culture and shed light on our oral and immaterial heritage (Wsham project) , LOVE IT ! Even though she doesn't identify herself as an "Art-ivist"

I discovered and learned so much from Camelia in these discussions, talking about cultural representation, Artblock, and inspiration...

She's a tsunami not a river, trying to find balance between a capitalist slave, and a dreamer ! This is part 2

M3a Rajaa, we've hit so many spots in our discussion, that It made me quite lost of what I can highlight in this episode description.

While enjoying this recording with her, I had a constant feeling that she was from another planet "Tantan city" in a positive way, with a crazy high sensitivity to the world surrounding her, as she laughed, thinking about her childhood: " Center of universe is Darkoum". She will bring us with her in suitcase to witness her adventures along from Tantan, to discovering cities; Agadir, Casablanca, Advertising world,... it's definitely worth listening, you won't regret it!

At early age, Rajaa, was attracted to African-American attitude, struggling with a sense of belonging, and trying to find answers of this simple question: "how can I exist as a woman and be free ? " ( with no social chains) She said: "As a female, you have only three options: Getting married, if you're lucky you'll get to university with all stereotypes that has, or figure it out ! "

With a strong believe that we can be so many things at the same time, Rajaa thinks that "One lifetime isn't enough". Never will settle or do something out of her element, or serving her way of greatness. Knowing that, Greatness can be in so many shapes and forms."To be a moroccan is having a value of greatness " She thinks

Her project => "Hit bghit carta : Make darija, the new flex, vibration of morocco is Darija , a reminder of being consistent to do what I want and what reflects my true self, in a tentative to convert and make people proud of our language darija. It's not a life needed product, but a life changing product , it's about self-awareness" she confirmed

As we were talking about self-worth Rajaa admitted: " What made a tremendous shift in my life, is when I identify that my worth and what I'm doing are two different things"

We talked also a lot about Values, and how staying connected to them will make us evolve, without getting lost ! It's about Empathy, Integrity, Curiosity, Persistence.

What motivates him, it's " Always you have to look at the  big picture"

So I just went with the flow :p

We talked also about her life experiences and choices, different life stage between Morocco, UK, and USA, and I haven't get done with her yet ;)

  • So in Morocco she learned in a very early age that hard work is important to achieve excellence, so she did !
  • In her Highschool years in UK she learns how to learn !? Thing that we never learn in Morocco sadly :(
  • And in USA, apart from feminism, she's sharing a very intimate experience where she learned how to take it slow, and respect her body.

A crazy path, between 3 countries full of learning, experiences, and success, yet she's a grandma, that's her words :p

Hope that you'll enjoy this discussion as much a I did :D

Cheers,

Sara

This Episode was with an amazing soul that I cherish particularly, So I just wanted to share with you this talk with Her, and You...

  • Spiritual path : Religion in theory and what and how she started questionning things ?
  • How to explore yourself in a journey within and get to know your own value !

And so much more about cultural landscape in Jordan, Turkey and Morocco ... then added some spices with Creativity, Soufism,... So NO time to get bored
