Living abroad as an expat isn't always easy as many people tend to believe, in fact, expats tend to deal with more challenging days than those who decided to stay home. There are many reasons why, whether this be due to language, culture, mannerisms, mindset, or personal character. Expats going through challenging times tend to go through them alone, and start to feel isolated, these are dangerous times, as thoughts of "I want to go home" start creeping in. Bad days follow us, and it's up to you to make change, find way to not only deal with difficult or challenging times, but to develop coping mechanisms to relive the stress from yourself, and to remind you as to why you chose to live an expat life in the first place.

In this podcast i go through some of the methods I've found to be most effective to deal with challenging times whilst living abroad, and to bring myself back to normality. Thank you to everyone for all your support for listening to my podcasts, all comments are greatly appreciated, you guys are awesome!

In this podcast and blog post I’m going to cover one of the most difficult aspects of living abroad, and though some may disagree, and others may say there are harder issues to deal with when living abroad, for me personally this is one area which hits home.

I’m going to be sharing one of the biggest issues not only I but many other expats have had to deal with when living abroad, and that’s dealing with family and friends’ mindsets. No this isn’t a podcast about reverse culture shock, though that can be part of it, but having to adjust yourself to fit into the world you left those many years ago as you decided to live and travel abroad.

Before I continue, I want to apologies in advance for the audio quality of this podcast, though I've tried my best to level the audio levels, its far from perfect, but I wanted to post this episode still for two reasons;

1) The content is still awesome

2) Bad podcasts are still part of my podcasting journey, and all experiences are learning experiences, both the good and the bad.

We had issues with the #Focusrite XLR amp, where is kept cutting out and therefore our microphones stopped working, however, it seems the cameras microphone picked up the slack and continued recording the audio. I hope you enjoy this podcast, and next time I will make sure the audio is "perfect".

I know we both enjoyed recording this podcast, as we talked about what life is like in #China, and I hope you enjoy it to! This #podcast is a community podcast, where i not only talk to fellow expats on their life experiences in China, but also through my podcast editing where I stream live over on Twitch.

This is a short snippet from a recently hosted online podcast talking about the importance of taking time for yourself, to ensure you have enough time to self-care and to help prevent exhaustion, illness, and others issues that sometimes results from focusing only on the needs of others.

Without making time for ourselves and allowing some well-earned relaxation or dedicated time for us to better ourselves, you may end up seeing a negative impact on the things we’re trying so hard to maintain for ourselves. We may actually start resenting the things we’re trying to maintain or develop in our own lives.

A short podcast snippet to encourage you to achieve what you set yourself to achieve, don't create excuses instead find ways to overcome challenges, learn and develop new skills and achieve what it is you set yourself to achieve. It is important we strive as people, and don't become reliant on excuses, looking for ways in which we can't do something instead of seeking methods to overcome such obstacles.

An update on the current epidemic situation in Xi'an, and a very happy new years eve message from your podcast host Kriss Parker.

Things in Xi'an are still progressing, with the government here support its residents with a care package of groceries for each living community within the city. Observing the support given and the logistics behind such an operation in a city of 14,000,000 people is an amazing achievement, and the support from all the residents in my own community has been amazing!

Wishing everyone a very happy new years eve, and may the new year be the turning point for the world of the current epidemic situation which many countries and people are dealing with.

A Merry Christmas Message!

This Christmas holiday has been a challenging period for everyone in Xi'an China, with the recent city lockdown to stop the spread of the virus, but in all the challenges there is light at the end of the tunnel as the Chinese authorities do their best to get the city back to normal as quickly as possible.

What this means for the podcast presently, is some of our online, live, and interactive podcast have been postponed until people can travel once more, but we are looking forward to this in the very near future, and sharing with you live online our answers to your questions.

I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and to encourage everyone to enjoy the time we have together, with friends, colleagues, and family, as its not until you can't be with them, is when you miss them the most. Presently, we're not sure how long the lockdown will be, but we hope to continue to Zoom like podcasts until people can return back to the studio as we host our weekly live podcasts. It was three years ago this month where we went on a similar adventure but were hinder due to the virus situation in China, however, I do hope we can continue to record our podcasts even during these challenging times, especially to keep you all updates on the situation here in China, as the lockdown and quarantine measure change daily.

Thank you to everyone for all your support!!!
