What is Maunday Thursday? Christ's "mandate" is commemorated on Maundy Thursday---"maundy" being a shortened form of mandatum (Latin), which means "command." It was on the Thursday of Christ's final week before being crucified and resurrected that He said this commandment to His disciples. Jesus and his disciples had just shared what was known as the Last Supper and he was washing their feet when he stated:"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another" (John 13:34).

We approach life as if it were a vacation, rather than a war; like a playground rather than a battleground. But it’s not. And you and I might wish all day long it were, but that doesn’t change the fact that we really are in a battle, with a real enemy. And unless we wake up to that, we’ll probably end up as one of the casualties.
BOTTOM LINE: Victory or defeat is determined by what leads me.Galatians 5:16-25 NLT16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses. 19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.1. When the Spirit leads, the Spirit fights for me.2. When I lead, I lose.3. When the Spirit leads, I win.4. The Spirit leads when I rest in His promises.

This week we observe the final days of Jesus life. This is the week that leads Him to His death, burial and resurrection. We call it Holy Week. Holy Week for us is an opportunity to glance towards the resurrection of Jesus. Before there was a resurrection there had to be a death.
Good Friday, we know. And Easter most certainly. But what is Maundy Thursday? Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter, believed to be the day when Jesus celebrated his final Passover with His disciples. Most notably, that Passover meal was when Jesus washed the feet of His disciples in an extraordinary display of humility. He then commanded them to do the same for each other.
What do you do when you have been wronged? Do you get even? Get bitter? Forgive? Heres the thing..., many times, the lemons in life dont come from some abstract thing called life but can be caused by the people around us. So, wheres the lemonade for us who might have been wronged?
God uses trials and struggles in life to grow us and squeeze lemonade from the lemons of life. We will use the lemons of life to allow God to grow us into the people He desires us to be.
PEOPLE MATTER TO GOD - AND TO USThe church is full of real people, not spreadsheets, so we intentionally take time to notice, know, pray, care, encourage and build up one another. This is a search and rescue mission. We will never allow this lifeboat to become a yacht club. As long as there are people in our community who do not know Jesus, we want to find ways to reach them. As long as people are in this church, we want to find ways for them to grow spiritually. We do not judge people when they come or judge those who are here. We allow everyone time to experience Gods life-changing grace because they matter to both God and us.
Christians in America are, overall, reading the Bible less, yet Jesus had a high value for the Scriptures. As Jesuss disciples who value what he values, we need a clear understanding of what the Bible is and of its story.
We all have thisamazing ability to take simple things and make themextremely difficult, don't we? Simple things. ButGod takes the most complex of things and He makes them so simple. As simple as a baby in a manger.
