pod615 #10 Lane Motor Museum – Jeff Lane

On this episode of pod615 you’ll meet Jeff Lane, owner and founder of the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, Tennessee.

Growing up just outside of Detroit Michigan, Lane’s passion for motor cars wasn’t fixated on the big three American auto manufacturers nearby, but on European models. A 1955 MG TF, a gift from his father would be the start of the largest collection of European cars in the United States.

Housed in the once iconic Sunbeam bread factory on Murfreesboro Pike, this eclectic assembly of vehicles is celebrating twenty years and is on display to the public during operating hours.

As much as possible, the cars are maintained in excellent working condition and the museum allows visitors the opportunity to get up close to the collection.

During their annual fundraiser each year, members and museum supporters can actually bid on certain vehicles for the privilege of driving them in in the yearly road rally.

Listen now as Jeff Lane shares his passion for his popular motor museum and collection.

His paintings, many commissioned, are hung in businesses and homes across the state. His prints, always in demand and have been published in a popular book collection, both of which are available at "Picture This" Creative Framing and Gallery" in Hermitage Tennessee.

From a United States Naval Officer to corporate executive with the Nashville shoe retailer Genesco, for three decades, his career as a professional artist began only after retirement. An artistic endeavor that has lasted for over 40 years.

Public service has included a seat pro-tem on the (Nashville) City Council and 10 years as an assistant to former 5th district Congressman from Tennessee, Jim Cooper.

Phil remains active today, not only as a painter, but as an ambassador in the Donelson Hermitage Chamber of Commerce and as a volunteer with the Exchange Club.

His detailed painting of Market Street in Nashville at the turn of the last century will soon be etched into the AT&T Data Center on Second Avenue that was effected by the Christmas day bombing in 2020. The work will create the illusion of a life sized mirrored reflection of another place in time.
