Life experience and formal training as a human sexuality educator allows me to listen compassionately without judgment to sensitive cases involving sexual violence. I have an educational background in biochemistry and philosophy, which I use extensively in my metaphysical healing practice. Forever learning, my love for the human body leads me to continue my education with studies in Five Element Chinese Medicine Theory, Anatomy, Physiology, and Nutrition. I am preparing to attend graduate school for a Masters Degree in Transpersonal Psychology. I am also an ordained minister and initiated Buddhist. I am very blessed to be able to honor my daughter, elders, and ancestors with all that I Am.

Join SistahGoddess Camara and her special guest, JoVonna Johnson as they discuss her work as the co-founder of Maitu Foods, her new circle on Wombyn Studies called Planting Sacred Spaces, and the future of our food. JoVonna shares: In early 2000, influenced by the progressing movement towards vegan/vegetarian eating, I begin to find my own footing in this journey. As a result of becoming a vegetarian my approach to cooking evolved. As much as it was about the taste, and flavor and creative aspects of food, now I was pushing towards making sure that each meal was nutritionally substantial and sufficient. I have been influenced by my encounters with different styles, peoples and cultures to continue to bring what I have to offer as a cook to a higher level. One influential event was a trip to Kenya. In that trip, the seed of international cuisine and the idea for my food service endeavor Maitu Foods was planted. Beginning in the Fall of 2008, Maitu Foods set out to provide wholesome and nutritious vegan meals to families and private schools in the Atlanta area, particularly the West End and Cascade areas. Armed with the premise of healthy foods for growing bodies and minds, and a wide array of vegan/ vegetarian meals from different cultures, we set out to make our contribution to the growing health movements taking off in urban areas across the U.S. We will take your questions and comments on the phone and via our chat room!

Night is the author of The Ruby in the Lotus: Women's Red Moon Mysteries and Wise Wooman Wisdom; and Ragtime Revolution! Night Moore has been involved with the teaching and advocation of eco-feminism, green bleeding and women's red moon mysteries for going on two decades. Do you know that your average woman in the U.S will use and dispose of 15,000 commercial menstrual products in her lifetime?! The materials used to manufacture most pads are derived from the petroleum industry and forestry. The absorbent core, made from chlorine bleached wood pulp with the addition of polyacrylate gels. The remaining materials are mostly derived from the petroleum industry, the cover stock used is polypropylene, with the leak-proof barrier made from polyethylene film. The extraction, production and manufacture of these plastics contributes nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide – ozone depleting gases; human toxins that lead to cancer and birth defects as well as chemicals that cause the acidification of trees. The high plastic content of these products ensures they remain in our environment for centuries as they are neither biodegradable nor recyclable. Disposal of used sanitary products by either flushing out into the oceans of the world, incinerating or depositing in landfill creates various pollutants including dioxins deposited in the sea through sewerage waste and air pollution from incinerators. Every woman can reduce waste and reduce harm to her womb by adopting simple, safe and earth-friendly practices in regards to her moon-time. We will discuss the alternatives and get your opinions.

Aisha Shakti Hakim (Shakti) has been a student and practitioner of various healing arts modalities for over a decade. As a native New Yorker she has always been drawn to the many metaphysical teachers, workshops, classes and bookstores to be found there. She gamely followed her intuition as it led her on a journey of self discovery and possibilities.
Shakti has been a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist since 1997. She has been trained in several energetic healing modalities, including Sound Healing, Pranic Healing, Eriksonian Hypnosis, Therapeutic Touch, and Shamanic Practices.

Her own personal journey also guided her to reclaim ancient Mother worship where she first heard of Tantra, Kama Sutra, Nubian Kemetic spiritual culture, and sacred sexuality.
