Rev. Jacqui Foxall preaches on the 'Lessons from the Passover'. Her message explains that as Christians we do not celebrate passover, but it does hold a special place in our story. As Jesus was not Christian but in fact was Jewish, and celebrated passover every year with his family and friends. In fact according to three of the gospels, it was the passover meal that he was eating with his friends on the night he was arrested and eventually crusified. It was the meal he was eating when he took the bread and broke it and said this is my body given for you and it was the passover he was celebrating when he lifted one of the cups of wine on the table and said this is the NEW covenant, the New promise sealed in my blood, when ever you drink it, remember me. The passover orginally happened thousand of years ago, but it's truths are still vital today.

Rev. Jacqui Foxall preaches God's resolve to form a new community brought only by miracles and rely only on God's faithfulness. Faith as a response is the capacity to embrace that announce future with such passion that the present can be relinquished for the sake of that future. Faith invites us to see beyound present circomstance to God, to God's promise to the future. Faith gives us the tenacity to hold fast. She explains that this much easier said than done, as she discusses the relationship of Abraham and God.

Rev. Jacqui Foxall preaches that we live in a society of novelty, which comes from a place of curiosity, growth and adventure seeking. The darker side of this trait, is the dopamine change of the tireless pursuit of the feel good experience, repetition is seen as stagnate, got to keep the people interested. And this will be a problem for the church or maybe this is our greatest strength. She continues to preach about creation as it still applies, and we still need to be reminded every single day about the origin story. We messed up and God comes close to heal us and save us and we are called to be in a relationship with each other. Rev. Jacqui is not preaching about something new or novel or risk-free, but about a triune God that welcomes and loves us over and over again when we do not deserve it and has the audacity to ask us to do the same with ourselves and each other. This God invites us to turn the other cheek and not hoard what we have but to share and be a neighbour to every single person we encounter as they are also the image bearer of the divine. Discipleship is hard, but it is our true calling, to love God and one and other and care for creation.

Rev. Brad Shoemaker's message "Time with Christ' was from 2008 when he was a student of Knox College. He begins discussing the story or sheep and goat and how it is framed in the context of law and consequence, which we really do not want to here about. He continues teaching us that the Lord so identifies himself with the hungry, the homeless, the sick and the imprisioned , and they are not only his brothers and sisters, but they are the Lord himself in disguise. Love has no bounds and the love of Christ has no boarders because it is important to know that God loves you and he wants to be with you.

Listen to these lessons on this Sunday June 16th, 2024 as The Rev. Jacqui continues teaching on 'Belonging'. She talks about the Apostles Paul's writing in his second letter to the church in Correns, chapter 3 verse 17 ( Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.) So in Christ we are not bound or shackled, but free. Reminds us that for too long that going to church was synonyms with endless rules, finger wagging, keeping quantities of guilt and shame when rules are questioned or broken. It is no surprise that membership has shrunk over the years. It seems to be a far cry from our origin, as a diverse free flowing and inclusive mockly crew.

So, The gift of the holy spirit is to bring all these children of God together, Unity and then to say to this body of Christ, Go Bless the World with my Love. That is our calling, that is our invitation, that is what it means to belong. God be all the Glory

Listen to these lessons on this Sunday June 9th, 2024 as The Rev. Jacqui continues teaching on 'Belonging'.

If Jesus were to show up in churches today, he'd get the side eye. The same issue that Jesus was dealing with then, we deal with within ourselves in a world today in gate keeping worthiness and identity.

As in the creation story God goes looking for them, as they are worthy of love, worthy of being found and worthy of being celebrated. Wonder whether we reflect that today, and wonder if it's not getting physically lost, but loosing identity. Adam and Eve lost track of their belovedness, and God came to them. They were ashamed and God said 'who told you were naked'. Our truest sence of being, our truest self in the eyes of our creator is belonging to God and each other. Maybe we need to rethink the parables and creation account, maybe it is not about lost sheep, or lost coins, maybe it is about people loosing their true identity, or being denied, or finding themselves lost even when people are around. Why does God draw near to those who are seen as unworthy, who lost their identity or even stop believing in themself. Belonging doesn't change who we are but requires us to be who we are. We are beloved children of God, everything else is secondary. This is the Good News.

Listen to these lessons on this Sunday June 2nd, 2024 as The Rev. Jacqui teaches on sticking to the rules and the harm that it can do. Jesus, turned against the rules that were created beyond the 10 words that Moses recieved from God to give to the Israelites at Mount Sinai. Jesus, gave us freedom, so proclaim and believe that, then freedom is already ours and belonging is also offered to us by the holy spirit.

We belong at the table and we belong with each other. This is the good news, this is the invitation to you and to me and to this world that God so loved, thanks be to God.

Listen to these lessons on this Trinity Sunday May 26th, 2024 as The Rev. Jacqui teaches the concept of the Trinity that was finalized in the late 325ad, to articulate Christianity beliefs in the oneness of God, coupled with the claims about Jesus and their experiences of the spirit. Trinity is language that we have created, and we use to understand and make meaning that we find quite mysterious and perplexing.

We can find the truth of it, not in the manusia of doctorine, but in community, in diversity, in choosing relationships over ocomes and productivity. We see the truth of it when we share, when we work for justice, when we give and recieve forgiveness. We see it in bread and wine broken and shared. We can see the truth of it in water, the waters of baptism specifically. Listen to the liturgy in Baptism, in a way it reminds us of our identity, as a community that is many parts, that is a reflection of a God who is three in one , and one in three.

Listen to these lessons on this Pentecost Sunday May 19th, 2024 as The Rev. Jacqui as she discusses the birth of the church and why the church does not spend more time on it. Maybe it is becuause it is loud and it is confusing and is disorienting and it is demanding. One of Rev. Jacqui's favourite reference to Pentcost is by Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber describes the holy-spirit, as having terrible boundaries. She continues teaching on John's writings in the book of 1 Corinthians 12:1-13, on our spirtual Gifts. And tells us that Pentcost demands something of us, the manifestation of the spirit used for the common good and we are all going to look different, so we should all get use to it and the mess is the church. The church is not a building , the church is it's people.

Listen to these lessons on this 5th Sunday of EASTER April 28th, 2024 as The Rev. Jacqui explains why we should read the bible without chapter and verse, as the subheadings, chapters and verses have created breaks in the narrative where the original author may not have intended one to exists. As The Rev. Jacqui Foxall preaches on the Scripture Lesson Acts 3:1-10 (Peter Heals a Lame Beggar), she teaches that Peter in the foot steps of his rabbi is a bit radical here, Peter doesn't do charity, he does 'JUSTICE'. Charity makes friends, justice tends to make enemies. It was Peter's belief in Christ that effected the healing of the Beggar. So, how much of the healing was the power to walk and how much was the acceptance into the beloved community. The gift of inclusion, is as old as the church itself. "Look at Me", open our eyes lord, so day by day you can add to our numbers.

Listen to these lessons on this 4th Sunday of EASTER April 21st, 2024 as The Rev. Jacqui Foxall preaches on the Scripture Lesson Acts 1:1-8 (Jesus Taken Up Into Heaven). Rev. Jacqui Foxall's message is how to 'Hurry up and wait'. Resurrection Lord has been visiting his disciples for some time, and one day says to them I am heading out and you will be taking over, but don't worry the father is going to give you the spirit, it's going to be wild. You are going to do so much in my name and have power that you cannot even imagine and spread the word not just at home, but beyond this region and to the whole world. So, the Acts of the apostles begins with all this excitement and then Jesus then tells them not to go anywhere, just wait here, puts the brakes on and says it is not for you to know, but you will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you. No time line, just direction. Big things lie ahead for these early disciples, but 1st they have to wait.

(Dealing With Sin in the Church). She teaches that taking Matthew 18 and taking it verbatim is the gold standard, but this passage is simply missing something. It misses something if we legalize it, weaponize it and she wonders what it would be like to loosen our grip on the way things used to be, or the things that we learnt while we were young, things that we were taught in Sunday school, things that we have heard a preacher say, so when will we loosen to be open to receive new and more expansive way of following Christ in the world. Of being empowered loving disciples of Jesus Christ. Like Peter we are invited to stay in the ring and ask good questions and to listen to grow. She closes with a a poem prayer on 'Teach Me'.

Listen to this Wandering heart message "I’m fixed upon it' lessons on this 4th Sunday of LENT March 10th, 2024, as The Rev. Jacqui Foxall preaches on the gospel lesson of Matthew 16:21-23

(Jesus Predicts His Death). She gives understanding on the discipleship classes of the Messiah mentor 101. And how the disciples fail to understand the challenges of faith and Jesus's path fulfillment. Jesus was fully human and divine and so it was not a human's will that Jesus walked but a holy divine. So, when Jesus rebuked Peter saying: “Get behind me, Satan!” or another Greek interpretation "Follow Me". Jesus is saying to Peter , no your place, Follow me, learn from me, watch me and doing as I do, not as you imagine this will all go down.

Rev. Jacqui continues to teach that we may not know the whole picture and what was once believed may not be the correct or right way. An example people no longer leave the church because they do not believe in Jesus or his teachings, as they believe in the beauty of Jesus, so much, they no longer can stomach being part of an institution says that it is about that, clearly it is not. We have work to do, Church!

Listen to the teachings on this Sunday January 28th, 2024.

In the time of Jesus, there were allot of conditions and people that were considered ritually uncleaned or impure, the list is long and it is sourced, primarily from the book of Leviticus. While most people only know one or two things mentioned in this book and they like to wheel those verses as weapons against people who are different from them. Rev. Jacqui teaches on the Gospel of Mark from verses 5:21-43, Jesus heals a sick woman. Her message is that Jesus said that her faith had healed her. Jesus chooses not to leave people in the condition which he finds them, and he has the power to alter that condition. So she asks the church, do we, ambassadors of Christ in the world, and can the Christian community alter the conditions of peoples lives. Can it to bring healing into troubled circumstances and be willing to cross boundaries to advocate life giving meaning and change. Would you be willing to cross boundaries and are you afraid of people that are different, as they might be contagious. Remember God is breathing life into dead places, touching the untouchable because all all people are children of God.

This story was important to the early church and to the disciples, as it was included in 2 of the 4 gospels. This story tells us something about Jesus , about the early church and most importantly about our selves. At it's core this story is about identity!

So, what would it look like if we lived like Jesus? What would it look like if we were drawn to the one that society cast out and labeled? What would it look like if we asked them their names?

Listen on this Sunday January 14, 2024 The Rev. Jacqui Foxall's teachings "Throw God's Kingdom around like Confetti”.

Her teaching on Mark's Gospel about the parable of the sloppy sower 'Let anyone that has ears to hear, let them listen.” It reminds her of a saying, 'Throw kindness around like confetti'. Confetti, like glitter is very irating, as the stuff gets everywhere and very tricky to cleanup. Not everyone is a fan of confetti or glitter as they are messy. Not everyone is a fan of kindness or grace for much the same reason. As it can be messy and destablizing, and blur all the lines. Jesus came along and blured all the lines as well!

Listen on this ADVENT 4 Sunday December 24, 2023, The Rev. Jacqui Foxall's message, is about how in Luke's gospel all the characters are singing their guts out. Mary sings when she is greeted by her cousin, Elizabeth. Zakaria sings when his son is born and his tongue is finally loosened. The angles sing of peace and good will when they share their good news with the shepherds. And Simeon even sings a song of farewell once he has seen God's promises to Israel kept in the Christ child. An alternate title for Luke's gospel should be 'God, The Musical'. As we not need another song of what is, but a song that could be, the sound of Hope.

Listen on this Christ the King Sunday , The Rev. Jacqui Foxall's message is from Book of Isaiah, a message of warning and hope. It is important to remember what the role of a prophet truly is! Rev. Jacqui's quotes what Frederick Bittner wrote, 'Prophet means spokesperson, not fortune teller. And the one whom in their unfathomable audacity, the prophets claim to speak for was God. In the presence of a prophet no one has ever seemed comfortable. With complete lack of tack, they roared out against phoniness and corruption where ever they found it in society. They where the terror of Kings, temple leaders and other officials who ruled over the people and they did not enjoy the presence of a prophet among them'. Rev. Jacqui again quotes Frederick Bittner, ' A prophet quarrels with the world, deep down, a lovers quarrel. If they didn't love the world, they wouldn't bother to tell them that it was going to hell, they would just let it go. Their quarrel is God's quarrel'. And yes we still have prophets today.

So, lets remember Who it is we serve?, Whose Kingdom it is that we serve?, as we Celebrate and we rejoice and we give thanks.

Thanks be to God.

Listen as Rev. Jacqui Foxall's message begins a message from Isaiah " How long will you go limping about with 2 different opinions, this was to the people of God. Rev. Jacqui also echo's the same thought of today. Things change over time and at the same time history has an incredible way of repeating itself, as it Rhythm's well with today. Rev. Jacque makes the argument that we are no different to the people in Isaiah's day, living in a land of prosperity, safety, worshiping both the Lord and other lesser Gods, common practice among us still. On Sunday the Lord provides for us, but the rest of the week we trust in the health of stock markets, pension plans, RRSPs, economy's, alliances, tech and oil industries, staying out of the red and only in the black, alliance with foreign governments on paper at least promise security, stability and safety. So, on Sunday we worship God, but what about the rest of the time, how long will we go about limping?

Listen as Rev. Jan Hieminga's message recounts 3 persons experience on this 🌺 Remembrance Sunday about the war and the friendships that followed after the war.

Rev. Jan also quoted St. Francis of Assisi words "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me so love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy".

Also, when the Pharisees asked Jesus What is the greatest commandment? Jesus replied "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." But, the 2nd commandment is like the 1st 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' Jesus also said “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God and believe also in me. Peace I give to you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives to you. Therefore, do not let your hearts be troubled and be at peace.'

Listen as Rev. Jacqui Foxall's message begins on the action of a monk, Martin Luther who kindled the Protestants' Reformation. She completes her message with a quote by Dietrich Bonhoeffer; "It is not we who build. Christ builds the church. No Man build the church with Christ alone.Whoever is mindful to build the church is surely well on the way to destroying it, for he will build a temple to idols without wishing or knowing it. We must confess he builds. We must proclaim, Christ builds. We must pray to him, that he will build. We do not know his plan. We cannot see whether he is building or pulling down. It may be that the times which by human standards are the times of collapse are for him the great times of construction. It may be that the times which from a human point are great times for the church are times when it's pulled down. It is a great comfort which Christ gives to his church. You confess, you preach, you bear witness to me, and I alone will build where it pleases me. Do not meddle in what is my providence. Do what is given to you, to do well, and you have done enough, but do it well. Pay no heed to views and opinions. Don't ask for judgement, don't always be calculating of what will happen, don't be on the look-out for another refuge! Church Stay a Church! Church, confess, confess, confess! Christ alone is your Lord, from his grace alone can you live as you are. It is Christ who builds."

Listen as Rev. Jacqui's message on King David, the hero of the faith and far from being perfect. He was not the kind to be calculating, or concerned of being politicaly correct as it was not his priority, instead he relied on his insticts. Sometimes he got it right and sometimes he got it wrong and sometimes what seems right in God's eyes , does not seem right in ours. Just ask Jesus with his interaction with the Pharasees. And sometimes what seems right in our eyes , does seem right in God's eyes. It is God who chooses us, over, over and over again. Even when we get it wrong, God is their. Even when we think we are doing the right thing and we mess it up God is all ready their waiting for us. Listen as Rev. Jacqui's message on thinking about Moses and how God values people and continues to stand by Moses even thru his poor judgement and mistakes. Jacqui talks about how

Moses served God and Gods people and at the end of his life he makes one last great speech to the people before they entered the promise land, that is what is captured in Deuteronomy. He offers a summary of their history and God's salvation and the roadmap of being the people of God, and greatest commandment, the words known even today 'You shall Love the Lord your God, with all your Heart, with all your Soul and all your Might' and keep these words in your heart, recite them to your children, talk about them at home, when you are away, when you rise and when you lie down, bind them on your hand and stick them as an emblem on your forehead, write them on the door post of your house. And a thousand years later Jesus will be asked, what is the greatest commandment and Jesus recites the Shema.

Listen as Rev. Jacqui teaches the lesson from the story of 'Naboth’s Vineyard' as it is replete of greed, power, corruption and disregard of human life. She continues her lesson of how it isn't that hard to make the connection of what we are learning these days of the incomprehensible damaged done over the past several centuries by colonizers, including the church here in Canada. We need to take seriously the spirit of the truth and reconciliation commission to it's call to action, as it is the right thing to do, the just thing to do and the the most faithful, Christ like thing to do. As we are equipped with grace and equipped for grace as we are all children of God through faith. As many of us have been baptized into Christ have clothed ourself with Christ, then there is no longer greed, no longer free or slave, there is no longer male or female, as we are all one with Christ Jesus and if you belong to Christ then you belong to Abrahams off-spring, airs according to the promise.

So, may we remember what we were made for; for the Love ,for the creation (re-creation), for the connections, for the unity and for the fully messiness of being human as we were never meant to stay in the perfect garden.

Listen to The Rev. Jan Hieminga message about Jesus words, to remind Christians that their hope isn't in themselves but in what their great God has done and will do. Rev. Jan continues the message to remind us that the rulers of the world want to control over us, like businesses & advertisers that want to continue to control over us and when we say that you can't control us because we are controlled by Jesus our Lord who has given us a different set of rules to live by, they don't like it, they do not want to loose control over us, they want us to live by their rules. To live by the kingdom of God you have to make a choice, to choose who's side you are on? But when you chose to be part of the Kingdom of God, be glad. You will be comforted, you will inherit the earth, you will be filled, you will be shown mercy, you will see God and be called children of God and above all great is the kingdom in heaven.
