Hi, I'm Nivani Bhimsan and I'm becoming a mom in a few weeks so I'm putting myself through Mom School, the best way I know how. I love talking to people and I love learning from them. I believe that the best way to gain confidence in any new venture is to arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can. So I’ve reached out to some A-grade moms to share their wisdom from practical experience. I’ll be sharing these conversations so they can be helpful to you too.I hope through these conversations you will find topics that you can relate to and that can help you grow in your own walk through pregnancy and as a parent or even just help you to understand the moms around you a little better. We aren't medical professionals unless otherwise stated and this isn't meant to be instructive on how to navigate the medical aspects of your pregnancy and caring for your child but these moms do discuss real life experiences and what they have been through to give you insight into pregnancy in the unique South African context.
Chernell Phillip has many talents and wears many hats but the title she's most proud of is definitely "Eva's Mum". She kindly joined me to talk through her experiences in pregnancy and the early stages of motherhood as well as her awesome new initiative called the Council of Moms. A group of young mothers coming together to offer prayer, encouragement and support to expecting and new moms as well as women who are at various stages of the motherhood and fertility journey.
We talked about so many different topics including her spunky little 2 year old, Eva, the role of dads during pregnancy, mental health issues affecting mums and making time for yourself as a new mother as well as loads of other ear candy along the way.
I think this will be a really interesting listen for mums to be and new mums as a down to earth insight into what it was like for another mum just like you.
This is Mom School with Chernell Phillips. Enjoy!
