Jack Fingerhut grew up hearing his father's stories about surviving the Holocaust in Poland. Much later, these stories were recorded by the Shoah Foundation, which was established by Steven Spielberg after he produced and directed Schindler's List, a film that won seven Academy Awards in 1994. In this episode of Tune In & Level Up, Jack describes the harsh conditions, losses, and terror his father and thousands of others faced in Poland when it was occupied by Nazi Germany.
Although his sister was born before his parents immigrated to the U.S., Jack was born in America. He describes his parents' hard work and determination to provide a good life for them.
It's important to remember and to be grateful for freedom and peace if we are fortunate enough to have it! God bless you all!

Charlotte Andrews lived a life so worthy of celebrating. Born on January 14, 1947, she passed away at the age of 75 on June 22, 2022. Just after her birthday recently, I arranged a conversation with her daughters, my nieces, Allison McCowan and Nancy Collins, who are now all grown up, married, with children of their own. My sister, Margaret, joined us in remembering just how loving and wonderful Charlotte was. She married our brother, Jeff, when Margaret was 16 and I was 13, but our memories of Charlotte began long before then because we all shared the same hometown, Cleveland, Texas.
Charlotte was one of the most faithful Christians I've ever known and a role model for loving others well. She was an expert baker and cook, and many Cleveland residents ordered cakes from her home bakery business. My personal favorite: her Italian Cream cake!
I will never forget her -- she was a true blessing, and the world is a better place because Charlotte's life made such a difference!
Tiesa Hollaway is investing herself in others, professionally and personally, and she has a social media presence that is always uplifting and inspiring! She's a great role model for anyone who is facing challenges and needs a fresh dose of hope! If Tiesa can do it, we can do it! She suited up and showed up in 12-step recovery rooms, and her life is better because of it! Tune in to hear her story and find out about her role as Executive Director of Hill Country Community Ministries - https://www.hccm.org/.

This episode is a repost of their conversation on the topic of aging and facing the future with courage and optimism. At the time of this recording, there were no plans to launch Glenda's Tune In & Level Up Podcast and not a single episode had been recorded. Since August 2022, Glenda has recorded many interesting conversations on Tune In & Level Up with people who have done amazing things in leveling up and helping others transform their lives for the better! She'd be the first to tell you that she's the one who has benefitted most from these inspiring conversations, and she's grateful for everyone who has been part of her leveling up journey! From Tune In & Level Up -- best wishes for the happiest of holidays as 2022 draws to a close -- and for a very special year in 2023!
Maribel Cox is more than a hair stylist -- in the ten years she's been offering her services to Glenda, she's become a friend! In this conversation, Glenda asks Maribel questions about having a career that helps people feel and look their best and combining customer service, stylist, and management skills in her role as a regional manager for her company. Bottom line.... it's all about being a good leader, listener, and a catalyst for inspiring people to be the best version of themselves. Maribel is a natural, and she's helping others to level up in these areas as well! The world would be a better place if we all had a "Maribel" in our lives!
In this episode, Glenda and her brother, Jeff McClain, talk about his lifelong passion for ham radio, how radio broadcasting made for some big adventures, including his years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and since then. Sandra Self played a big role in a happy memory. The most special memories related to faith and family top Glenda's list. But, not far below are heartwarming memories of adding puppies to their family unit.
During the pandemic in April 2020 when few people were traveling, Glenda and her husband went on a big trip from Austin, Texas to Sandra's home a few hours from Charlotte, North Carolina to pick up one of Sandra's puppies. He was one of Sandra's favorites, and Glenda will be forever grateful she entrusted this baby to them. They named him "Tripp" because of the big trip they took to get him -- plus, he IS A TRIP!
Sandra doesn't currently have any available puppies and might not have another litter for a long while. But, when she does, this Nurse Practitioner and her family invest heart and soul into loving, nurturing, and matching their babies with just the right families. Glenda and Sandra have stayed in touch and never tire of talking about their love for the boxer breed.... and Tripp, who is now 2-1/2.
