93 Counties is a weekly show hosted by students at the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Each episode is a story from one of the 93 counties in Nebraska, rural and urban, from the panhandle to the Missouri River.
Hosts Clare Arter and Hanna Christensen visit the home of Abi and Erica Smith located in western Seward County, Nebraska. Abi is a bright soul. She was born with Cerebral Palsy but she has never let her disability slow her down. Some of her hobbies include sewing, singing, painting and winning pageants. Abi is truly Miss Amazing.

Nebraska’s Big Rodeo, going 100 years strong in Garfield County, had their ground demolished by a summer storm. Instead of taking down a tradition, it brought an entire culture closer together.

The Ho-Chunk people of the Winnebago Tribe have lived in Thurston County, Nebraska for over 157 years celebrating the Oldest Native American Celebration in North America. But even through hundreds of years of tribulations caused by European settlers, displacement from the U.S. government and religious attempts of cultural erasure, the Winnebago tribe still gathers every year to celebrate their annual Winnebago Homecoming Celebration to honor current and past veterans, remember their last great war chief, Chief Little Priest, who helped solidify the foundation of the Ho-Chunk people in Nebraska, and to create lasting memories.

Wilber, Nebraska is a small town nearly five-thousands miles away from the Czech capital city of Prague, but it is known as the Czech Capital of America. How did this small town become the epicenter for Czech culture in the US? And how Czech is Wilber?
Hana Waisserova is a Czech language professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She talked to us about Czech history in America and how their story plays into the story of Nebraska pioneer life.
