I’ll walk you through why referrals matter so much, the data behind their impact, and — most importantly — how you can create a referral engine that consistently brings in high-quality clients and strengthens your reputation in the community.

Danielle shares some fantastic insights on how to go beyond just visuals—like logos and colors—and focus on the details that truly matter, from the way your team answers the phone to the scent in your waiting room. In episode 287, I dive into some exciting strategies to help veterinary practices not just survive but truly thrive as we head into 2025. With my background in managing over $38 million in ad spend specifically for veterinary hospitals, I've gathered some valuable insights into effective marketing strategies, content creation, and client engagement. In this episode, I break down these strategies into actionable steps, aiming to guide you through the ever-evolving marketing landscape with confidence and clarity.

One of the key topics I explore is the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on marketing. While AI's evolution has been a bit slower than anticipated, its potential to revolutionize content creation and customer engagement is undeniable. I predict that 2025 will be a pivotal year for AI-driven tools, especially in areas like content automation and customer service chatbots. Imagine being able to generate blog posts, social media updates, and email newsletters effortlessly with AI tools like Jasper or Copy.ai. Plus, implementing AI chatbots on your website can handle common inquiries and appointment bookings, freeing up your staff for more complex tasks. But as AI makes content creation easier, the quality and relevance of your content become crucial. That's why I emphasize the importance of standing out by leveraging your unique experiences and insights to connect with clients on a deeper level. Whether it's through niche expertise or compelling storytelling, these strategies can help you build a loyal community around your practice.

Another significant focus of the episode is on creating hyper-personalized offers. Understanding your clients' specific needs and preferences allows you to tailor services that truly resonate with them. By segmenting clients using your CRM based on factors like pet type, age, and health conditions, you can craft targeted offers that speak directly to each segment. Additionally, developing a value ascension ladder can guide clients from initial services to more comprehensive care options, encouraging them to explore additional services that benefit their pets. I also discuss the importance of retention marketing systems, such as personalized follow-up campaigns and client appreciation events, to nurture long-term relationships. Investing in a robust CRM system is crucial for automating follow-ups, managing client communications, and tracking engagement. By focusing on these strategies, you can enhance client engagement, drive growth, and ensure your practice is well-prepared for the future. If you're looking for more personalized advice, feel free to reach out to me via LinkedIn or through the Veterinary Marketing Podcast website. I'm here to help your practice succeed in the coming years!

We dove deep into how leveraging practice management software and online booking systems can significantly enhance operations, drive growth, and improve client engagement. This episode is packed with key insights and actionable advice for veterinary professionals looking to optimize their practices.

We started by discussing the critical role of data in veterinary practices. Data offers invaluable insights into client behavior, operational efficiency, and revenue drivers. If you're looking to build and market your veterinary practice effectively, this episode is packed with actionable advice and detailed insights.

Dr. Walker shared some fantastic tips on holistic branding, emphasizing that it's not just about a logo or a name but about creating a brand story that resonates with clients and reflects your practice's values. For instance, he chose the name "Apollo" after his dog and grandfather, giving the brand a personal touch that isn't tied to a specific location. He also talked about the importance of intentional choices in branding, like selecting calming colors and implementing an open-concept clinic design to foster transparency and trust. In our latest episode, we dive deep into the world of marketing strategies specifically designed for veterinary practices. Whether you're a startup in urgent need of clients, a practice that's hit a plateau, or one that's experiencing rapid growth and struggling to manage the influx, this episode has got you covered. I break down these practices into three distinct groups and offer actionable insights to help you attract, engage, and retain clients effectively.

One of the key points I emphasize is the importance of tracking where your clients are coming from. Knowing your client sources is foundational for any marketing strategy. I recommend using tools like Google Analytics and CallRail to monitor and analyze this data. CallRail even offers a free two-week trial, making it easy for you to start tracking your marketing effectiveness. I also introduce the 80/20 rule, which suggests that 80% of your marketing efforts may not yield significant results, while 20% will drive the majority of client growth. Identifying and focusing on that 20% is crucial, and without proper tracking, you might end up wasting resources on ineffective strategies.

For practices in urgent need of clients or those experiencing stagnation, I stress the importance of fixing the bottom of the marketing funnel—where potential clients convert into actual clients. This involves training your customer service representatives (CSRs) to handle inquiries effectively, engaging with potential clients on a personal level, and implementing follow-up systems to enhance client loyalty. Additionally, having an efficient online booking system, like Checkup App, can streamline the booking process and send reminders to clients, ensuring they return for follow-up visits. By diagnosing whether your practice has a marketing or sales problem and targeting clients strategically, you can craft a unique selling proposition that sets your practice apart in a competitive market. Tune in to this episode for a comprehensive guide to enhancing your marketing efforts and improving client acquisition.

I can't believe it's been ten years since we started this journey together! To celebrate this incredible milestone, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the top ten marketing lessons I've learned over the past decade. This episode is packed with timeless insights and actionable advice to help you elevate your veterinary practice's digital marketing strategies. So, let's dive in and explore these invaluable lessons that have stood the test of time.

First up, setting clear goals is absolutely crucial. Without defined objectives, it's tough to measure your efforts or make necessary adjustments. Start by identifying what you want to achieve, whether it's more client appointments, increased social media engagement, or higher revenue. Make sure your marketing goals align with your broader business objectives and use specific metrics to track your progress. Next, breaking down marketing activities into smaller steps can make the whole process less overwhelming. Map out the customer journey, identify key touchpoints, and focus on improving one area at a time. This way, you can create a more targeted and effective strategy.

Another key lesson is the importance of measurement and tracking. Data is your best friend when it comes to understanding the performance of your marketing efforts. Set key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with your goals and use tools like Google Analytics to gather meaningful data. Regularly review this data to identify trends and make necessary adjustments. Targeting niche audiences can also make a huge difference. By creating specific and relevant messaging tailored to your ideal client, you can achieve more effective marketing results. Identify your niche, tailor your messaging, and use targeted advertising to reach your audience more effectively. And don't forget about differentiation and your unique selling proposition (USP). In a competitive market, standing out is crucial. Identify what sets you apart, communicate your USP clearly, and maintain consistent branding across all channels. These lessons, along with creating compelling offers, testing with organic content, amplifying existing strengths, maintaining consistency, and expressing gratitude, form a comprehensive roadmap for veterinary professionals looking to enhance their digital marketing strategies. Here's to another decade of growth, learning, and impactful marketing!

In one of our latest episodes, we dove deep into a topic that hits close to home for a lot of us in the veterinary field: figuring out how to sift through the endless options of services and products that promise to boost our practices. It's a maze out there, and I'm here to share some of the golden nuggets we uncovered about how to make the best choices for your practice.

First off, let's talk about knowing what your practice really needs. It's not just about the bells and whistles of a new product or service; it's about what's going to solve the specific challenges you're facing. Are you struggling to keep clients coming back? You'll need a system that's a pro at tracking and communication. Or maybe you're on a mission to grow your client list – then you're looking for a marketing powerhouse that can get your name out there. It's all about aligning with your goals.

But here's the kicker: no product or service is going to be without its flaws. That's why it's crucial to dig into the potential downsides before you commit. Will it play nice with the systems you already have in place? Is it going to take forever for your team to learn? And let's not forget about the cost – are there hidden fees that'll hit you where it hurts? These are the kinds of questions that can save you a lot of headaches down the line.

And you know what else? On the podcast, we talked about the importance of supporting small businesses. It's something I'm really passionate about. Choosing to work with smaller companies can often mean better, more personalized service, which can make a world of difference when you're trying to stand out in the veterinary market.

So, to wrap it up, picking the right tools and partners for your practice is a big deal. It's about understanding your needs, being aware of potential pitfalls, and ensuring whatever you choose really gels with your operations. Stick to these principles, and you'll be setting your practice up for success.

If you're digging these insights and want more where that came from, don't forget to check out the podcast. We're all about helping each other thrive in this industry, so let's keep the conversation going. Catch you on the next episode!

Today, I'm thrilled to dive deep into the world of Google Ads and how they can revolutionize your veterinary practice.

Google Ads is more than just your typical search ads. It's a powerful platform with nine different types of ads that can help you achieve various goals. Whether you're looking to attract new clients, target specific demographics, or engage with your current clients, Google Ads has got you covered.

One of the standout features of Google Ads is its ability to target based on demographics and behavior. By combining these two factors, you can create a highly effective targeting strategy. Google has a treasure trove of user data that can inform your targeting options and help you reach the right audience.

When it comes to choosing the right campaign for your veterinary practice, I recommend search campaigns. These campaigns allow for tailored messaging and targeting based on user behavior. They're particularly effective for generating new clients and can be customized for different types of searches, such as informational, branded, and transactional searches.

But that's not all! There are other campaign types worth exploring, such as video campaigns on YouTube, app campaigns for in-app networks, and even hotel campaigns for practices with pet hotels. Each campaign type has its own unique benefits and can help you achieve specific marketing objectives.

As we look towards the future, it's important to stay updated on upcoming changes in digital marketing, especially with Google's search generative experience (SGE). These changes will require our attention and adaptation to stay ahead of the game.

Today, I want to dive into the exciting world of digital marketing and share some insights that will help you stay ahead of the game. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this!

So, let's talk about the impending shift in marketing. We're on the verge of a major revolution in the digital marketing landscape, and it's crucial that we adapt to these changes. One of the big disruptors in the industry is Google's AI, known as Search Generative Experience (SGE). This AI is going to completely transform the way people use search engines, making them more conversational and interactive. And that means the old ways of marketing might not cut it anymore.

Now, here's the thing - data and audience are going to be the keys to success in this new era of digital marketing. You need to master data reporting and understand where your clients are coming from. Platforms like Google rely on data to find more of your target audience, so it's essential to get a handle on it. But it's not just about data, my friend. Building an audience through content creation on social channels is equally important. It's a way to connect with your audience on a more personal level and not solely rely on Google.

The changes brought by SGE and other advancements are just around the corner. In fact, I predict we'll start feeling their impact this year. So, it's time to take action and set up accurate conversion tracking. This will help you understand your audience better and make smarter marketing decisions. And hey, if you're feeling overwhelmed, don't worry. I'm here to help you navigate through these changes. If you need assistance or know someone who could benefit from this information, feel free to share this episode.

In conclusion, the future of digital marketing is bright and full of opportunities. But to seize those opportunities, we need to adapt and evolve. Let's embrace the future together and make the most of what's to come.

In a recent episode, I discussed the five most crucial marketing activities for veterinary practices to ensure success in 2024. We all know that the upcoming year may bring some challenges, like price sensitivity and a decrease in clients and appointments. But fear not, because with effective marketing strategies, we can turn these challenges into opportunities for growth.

First up, let's talk about the power of tracking and data analysis. I highly recommend using call tracking software like CallRail to determine where your clients are coming from and gather qualitative and conversion data. This information is crucial in understanding which marketing channels are effective and how to improve conversion rates.

Another important aspect is focusing on what you want. It's essential to define your target audience and attract the right clients. By doing so, you can achieve better results in your marketing efforts. And speaking of clients, understanding their value is key. I advise practices to track revenue per client and break it down by source for effective marketing measurement.

Now, let's dive into conversion tracking. While tracking website data is important, without conversion tracking, it may not directly impact your bottom line. I recommend using CallRail for call tracking, implementing source tracking for booked appointments, and utilizing Google Analytics for website data.

Moving on, I want to stress the importance of marketing to your own email lists. Many practices currently underutilize this strategy, but it's a significant opportunity for growth. Regular communication and providing value to your clients can go a long way in building a loyal customer base.

To build a community within your email list, I suggest incorporating text messaging and online chat widgets. Programs like Twilio can help you integrate text messaging into your marketing efforts and facilitate better communication with your audience.

Inbound marketing and offers also play a crucial role in your marketing success. Having systems in place to generate leads and increase website traffic is essential. Paid advertising can be a flexible and effective way to boost traffic during slower periods. And don't forget about the power of offers in conveying value to your audience.

Maximizing existing resources is another key strategy. Creating a positive customer experience and implementing internal marketing strategies can help you stand out from the competition. Setting up a referral program and implementing rewards and retention programs can keep clients loyal and prevent them from seeking services elsewhere.

In conclusion, by implementing these strategies, veterinary practices can navigate challenges and thrive in the industry. I encourage you to share these insights with others who may benefit. Here's to a successful end of the year and an even better year ahead!

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with a digital marketing expert on my show. We dove deep into the world of sales in the veterinary industry, and I'm excited to share the highlights of our conversation with you.

First things first, let's address the elephant in the room: sales. I know it can have a negative connotation in the veterinary industry, but trust me, it's crucial for the success of your marketing campaigns. Sales and marketing go hand in hand, with marketing getting the message out there and sales coming into play when potential clients interact with your practice and make the decision to do business with you.

So, how do you know if you have a marketing problem or a sales problem? It's important to identify the root cause of any issues you may be facing. If you're not seeing enough people showing up or booking appointments, that's a marketing problem. On the other hand, if you're getting plenty of website visitors but they're not converting into clients, that's a sales problem.

Now, let's talk about the impact of improving your sales conversion rates. Even a small increase can make a big difference in your return on investment. For example, going from a 2% conversion rate to 5% can lead to a significant boost in profitability. It's all about reframing your perception of sales as helping people. By converting potential clients, you're able to provide them with the care they need and deserve.

Belief in your offerings is key. If you don't believe in what you're providing, it's time to work on improving your service until you can confidently stand behind it. Remember, you're here to help people, and that belief will shine through in your sales efforts.

When it comes to sales techniques, it's all about educating and guiding your clients. The goal is not to manipulate or convince, but rather to help them understand their problem and find the best solution. And don't underestimate the importance of effective phone handling. Building rapport, providing context, and offering value during phone conversations can make a world of difference.

Now, let's talk about strategies for closing sales. After building rapport and explaining the process and pricing, it's time to ask the potential client, "So what day works best for you?" By offering a few options, you give them the freedom to choose a convenient time without feeling pressured.

To wrap things up, I want to leave you with four key points for successful sales. First, frame sales as helpful, because that's what it's all about. Second, empower your front desk staff with conversation control tools. Third, create scripts and systems that align with your marketing strategies. And finally, provide recordings for training and improvement.

Remember, even small improvements in your conversion rates can have a big impact on your profitability. So, don't shy away from sales. Embrace it as a way to provide great care to your clients. And if the word "sales" feels uncomfortable, just think of it as "helping people." Because at the end of the day, that's what it's all about.

I hope you found our conversation insightful and packed with practical advice. By implementing these tips and tools, you can improve your sales skills and ultimately provide better care for your clients and their pets.

Today, I'm thrilled to bring you some amazing insights from a recent episode featuring Michael Shirley, the owner of Family Pet Health veterinary hospital.

Let me tell you, Michael's veterinary practice knows how to make a grand opening unforgettable. They managed to attract a whopping 350-450 people to their grand opening event, despite the challenges of parking and logistics. But it wasn't just a celebration of their new location - it was a showcase of their unique approach to veterinary care. They took participants on a guided tour, where they got to learn about different aspects of the practice, from radiology to surgery and recovery. And get this, they even used a stuffed animal dog to simulate real-life scenarios, like a pregnant dog needing surgery. How cool is that?

One of the biggest takeaways from Michael's experience is the power of special events in engaging clients. At the grand opening, they handed out passport books to participants, who had to collect stamps from different stations to enter a contest for free vaccines for life. This clever strategy not only created excitement, but also allowed Family Pet Health to collect valuable contact information for future marketing campaigns. And let me tell you, Michael knows a thing or two about marketing. He used social media to generate buzz leading up to the event, creating authentic videos with his cell phone to showcase the unique features of their new building. They even ran video ads on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook, which received a high click-through rate thanks to their engaging content.

But that's not all. Michael also shares his insights on controlling the message about his new vet hospital and addressing concerns about potential price increases. He emphasizes the importance of charging what they're worth and providing a higher-end experience. And let's not forget about community engagement - Family Pet Health has a large garage space that can be rented out for events, from dog training classes to wedding and baby showers. By offering this space at a low cost, they not only give back to the community, but also attract potential clients who may already have dogs and need a veterinarian.

I hope you found these insights as valuable as I did. If you want to connect with Michael, you can find him on LinkedIn or Facebook, where he's always active. And don't forget to check out the Veterinary Leadership Book Club, a Facebook group with over 3000 veterinary professionals, where they read and discuss books related to veterinary practice. A big thank you to our sponsors, the International Veterinary Dentistry Institute, Veterinary Dentistry.net, Used Vet Equipment, and New Vet Equipment. Without their support, we wouldn't be able to bring you these amazing episodes. So, share this podcast with others who could benefit from the content, and let's keep learning and growing together in the veterinary industry.

The benefits of live streaming are numerous, including less post-production time and the ability to create content even if things aren't perfect. We also discussed the importance of incorporating both live and pre-recorded content into your strategy, as they serve different purposes in reaching and engaging your audience.

Creating content that resonates with your audience is key, and Luria shared some fantastic tips on how to do just that. Leveraging your expertise and incorporating storytelling can make your content engaging without the need for extensive research. For veterinarians, Luria suggests using animals as props and finding unique ways to connect with your audience. We also touched on the challenges of creating content for a hyper-local industry like veterinary hospitals and the effectiveness of platforms like Facebook and Instagram, especially through live videos.

Engagement is crucial in live videos, and Luria provided some great insights on capturing attention. Incorporating animals, children, and food can help grab your viewers' interest. Luria also stressed the importance of connecting with your audience on a human level and taking a stance on relevant issues. We discussed the ideal setup for content creation, addressing common issues like bad echoes and background noise. Luria recommends having professional quality video for credibility but also acknowledges the value of raw, authentic content.

Lastly, we talked about Luria's upcoming workshop, which focuses on content strategy and driving business growth. She emphasizes the importance of being intentional and consistent with your content creation efforts. Results may take time, but staying committed and making adjustments along the way is key. To find out more about Luria's workshop, head over to procom/masterclass.

So, whether you're a seasoned content creator or just starting out, remember to stay committed, be consistent, and always strive to connect with your audience on a human level. Happy streaming!

In this episode, I'm super excited to share some awesome insights from our latest episode, where we dived deep into the fascinating world of loss aversion and how it can be harnessed in marketing and copywriting.

Loss aversion is a psychological principle that suggests people are more motivated to avoid loss than to gain something. Think about it this way: losing $100 feels way worse than finding $100 feels good. This fear of loss can be a powerful motivator for people to take action. But here's the thing, we need to balance loss aversion with the potential for gain. We're not about fear mongering here, but rather framing offers in a way that highlights the potential benefits and the consequences of inaction.

In addition to loss aversion, we also discussed three other levers that can be used in marketing: the gain lever, the logic lever, and the fear lever. The gain lever focuses on what can be obtained from taking action, like having a healthier and happier pet. The logic lever explains why taking action is important, such as how regular dental care is crucial for a dog's overall health and longevity. And the fear lever highlights what will happen if action is not taken, like the potential for serious health issues due to neglecting a dog's dental health. Sprinkling a bit of status, like the prestige of owning a healthy pet, can also be effective.

So, my friend, loss aversion, when used ethically and strategically, can be a game-changer in your marketing efforts. By understanding and applying this principle, along with the three levers of marketing, you can improve response rates and create more effective offers. Remember, it's not about scaring people, but rather motivating action by highlighting the potential gains and logical reasons for taking action. Give it a try in your marketing strategies and see the difference it can make.

I recently had an awesome discussion about generating clients for veterinary hospitals using digital marketing. I wanted to share the insights from that episode with you, breaking down the six strategies I discussed and giving you my take on their effectiveness.

First up, we talked about paid advertising. It's a powerful tool for reaching a wide audience, but it's important to remember that it should come after establishing other methods. Paid advertising can be effective, but it's not the first step in building a solid client base.

Next, we touched on cold outreach. While it can be effective, it's not scalable and can be time-consuming. So, I don't typically recommend it as a primary method for generating clients.

Now, let's talk about my personal favorite - client referrals. When your clients refer others to your veterinary hospital, it's a clear indication of good service. Plus, it attracts similar clients, helping you build a strong, loyal client base.

Another great strategy is forming strategic partnerships with businesses that have the same client type. By partnering with boarding facilities or groomers, for example, you can tap into their client base and offer your services, creating a win-win situation.

We also discussed the power of organic media, which involves creating and publishing content on external sites like blogs, social media, videos, and podcasts. This helps you reach a wider audience and establishes you as an authority in your field.

Lastly, we talked about owned media, which includes email or text message lists. This is a powerful tool for directly communicating with your clients and keeping them updated about your services.

To wrap it up, I emphasized the importance of diversifying your traffic sources to protect against market conditions. Referrals, building your own media list, strategic partnerships, and content creation should be prioritized. Paid advertising and cold outreach can be effective, but they shouldn't be your primary methods.

Remember, building strong relationships with your clients and providing excellent service are key. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out. I'm here to help you succeed in your veterinary marketing efforts.

In one of our recent episodes, I had the pleasure of chatting with Chris Do, an Emmy award-winning designer, CEO, and chief strategist of Blind. Chris is also the founder of The Futur, an online educational platform that aims to teach one billion people how to make a living doing what they love. Today, I want to share with you some of the key insights from our conversation.

Chris is a legendary figure in the world of branding and graphic design, with over 15 years of teaching experience at prestigious art and design colleges. During our chat, he emphasized the importance of building an emotional connection with customers. According to Chris, successful branding lies in understanding and catering to the unique values and interests of different clients. This approach can help businesses move away from the commoditization trap and towards value-based pricing.

Speaking of value-based pricing, Chris advocates for a shift from pricing based on labor hours to pricing based on the value delivered to the client. He believes that different clients have different values and interests, and pricing should reflect that. For example, someone may value a logo differently based on their financial situation. We also discussed the role of branding in local businesses, the importance of efficient systems and exceptional customer service, and the significance of investing in research and development and marketing services.

Chris's insights into branding and marketing strategies, particularly for creative professionals, were truly eye-opening. His expertise and experience make him a highly respected figure in the industry, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from him. I hope you find these insights as valuable as I did.

In this episode, I have some exciting news to share! Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with none other than Seth Godin, the legendary marketer and author. Seth has written 20 New York Times bestselling books, and his book "Permission Marketing" was actually the first marketing book I ever read. Needless to say, having him on the show was a true honor, and I can't wait to share the insights we discussed.

During our conversation, Seth and I dove into the ever-evolving world of marketing and advertising. We explored how digital platforms have completely changed the game, transforming marketing from just advertising to encompassing the entire experience and story of a business. We also delved into the power of storytelling and the importance of being genuinely unique in order to stand out in a crowded market. Seth shared some fascinating examples, including a chiropractor who built a successful practice by doing his work in public, demystifying the profession and attracting customers.

We also tackled the role of discounting and diversification in attracting customers. Seth suggested offering discounts or benefits to loyal customers, as well as considering additional services associated with pet care, such as grooming or specialized treatments. By providing a range of services and benefits, veterinarians can differentiate themselves and attract customers who value their expertise and trust.

Pricing was another hot topic, with Seth emphasizing that if a veterinarian can charge more and deserve it, they will likely do better. We also discussed the importance of choosing the right clients and getting rid of bad customers who don't appreciate your value.

But it wasn't all serious business. Seth and I also touched on the impact of AI on marketing and the need for local businesses, including veterinary practices, to create a unique and memorable experience for customers. We even delved into selling businesses, perfectionism, and content creation, with Seth challenging the notion of perfection and suggesting that a simple one-page website with essential information is often sufficient.

Overall, my conversation with Seth Godin was eye-opening and filled with valuable insights. As we navigate the ever-changing landscape of marketing, it's crucial to remember the power of storytelling, the importance of uniqueness, and the need to provide exceptional service. So let's embrace the challenge, meet specifications, and serve our clients to the best of our abilities.

In a recent episode, I had a thought-provoking conversation about a common mistake in social media marketing - posting content that adds no value and is just filler. Trust me, this is a topic that hits close to home for me because I truly believe that social media can be a powerful tool for connecting with clients and building a brand.

We've all been guilty of creating those meaningless posts that seem to be there just for the sake of posting something. But here's the thing - posting nothing at all is actually better than posting content that serves no purpose. In the episode, I emphasized the importance of providing value through your social media posts. I shared an example of a missed opportunity - a simple "happy national cat day" post with no substance. Instead, I encouraged businesses, especially veterinary hospitals, to use these holidays as a chance to tell stories and connect with their ideal clients. By sharing funny or interesting stories about cats, talking about cat owners in the practice, or highlighting the unique aspects of your cat care, you not only provide value to your audience but also build your brand and establish a meaningful connection with your clients.

But that's not all. I also discussed the pitfalls of outsourcing social media to companies that simply post pictures without generating engagement. It may seem like an easy solution, but it doesn't help with building a brand. It's crucial to put thought into your social media posts and ensure they serve a purpose. So, my call to action for you is to be intentional with your social media posts. Put effort into creating interesting and valuable content. Remember, it's not about quantity, but quality. And if you want to dive deeper into these topics, make sure to subscribe to the Veterinary Marketing Podcast because I've got some exciting episodes coming up. Let's make every post count in the world of social media.

In this episode, I want to dive deep into a recent episode where we tackled one of the biggest challenges faced by veterinary hospitals when it comes to marketing their practice: communicating value.

You see, it's not enough to just offer services. It's all about how those services are perceived by your clients. Many practices believe they can't discount their services and feel the need to offer premium options. While being premium can give you a competitive advantage, it's crucial to understand what your clients truly care about and how your practice addresses their concerns.

In our discussion, I introduced the concept of the four levers of value: the outcome and dream outcome, the perceived likelihood of achieving the outcome, and the time, effort, and money required. Effective marketing involves amplifying the dream outcome and perceived likelihood while reducing the perceived time, effort, and money required.

To differentiate your practice from the competition, it's important to empathize with your clients and understand their desired outcomes. By framing the benefits of your services in terms of avoiding potential problems or improving quality of life, you can motivate clients to take action. Testimonials, specific claims, and guarantees can also help build trust and increase the perceived likelihood of success.

But it's not just about the messaging. Practices can also make it easier for clients by offering convenient appointments, mobile services, or advanced procedures. By communicating your values and philosophy of medicine, you can attract like-minded clients who see the value beyond just the cost.

If you want to dive deeper into these strategies and connect with other veterinary marketing nerds, I invite you to join our Veterinary Marketing Nerds community. It's a fantastic platform for learning, sharing, and growing together. And don't forget to subscribe to the Veterinary Marketing Podcast for more valuable insights.

Remember, effective marketing in veterinary practice is all about effectively communicating value. So let's start communicating value effectively and watch our practices thrive!

In this episode, we dive deep into the future of traffic and marketing in the veterinary industry. I had the pleasure of discussing this topic with Brandon Breshears, a seasoned marketer who shared his insights on the cycle of attention in marketing and how it applies to the veterinary industry.

So, here's the deal. Every market experiences the emergence of a new medium that initially offers cheap attention and organic growth. In the past, this has been true for radio, TV, infomercials, and most recently, the internet. However, as these mediums stabilize, they inevitably become more expensive.

Right now, the internet, especially platforms like Facebook and Google ads, provides a period of cheap traffic for businesses. It's been a game-changer, allowing veterinary hospitals to reach a wider audience without breaking the bank. But here's the catch - this trend won't last forever. As the internet continues to mature, traffic prices will increase, making it more difficult and expensive for businesses to stand out.

So, what does this mean for veterinary hospitals? It means they need to focus on making their clients as valuable as possible. Attracting the right clients is important, but implementing retention tools is equally crucial. We're talking about having a support system in place, such as follow-up communication through email and text messages, to maximize revenue per customer.

Now, I know this shift in the market may not be the most exciting prospect, but it's the reality we face. Businesses need to adapt to survive and thrive. My advice? Invest in your clients and build strong relationships to ensure their loyalty. Make them feel valued and appreciated, and they'll keep coming back, providing a steady stream of revenue.

During our conversation, I also mentioned Russell Brunson, owner of ClickFunnels.com, as a marketer I enjoy listening to. His insights and strategies can provide valuable guidance for veterinary hospitals navigating the changing landscape of marketing.

This episode was sponsored by Used Vet Equipment and New Vet Equipment, two websites that offer a range of veterinary equipment. They provide a valuable resource for veterinary hospitals looking to invest in their practices.

In conclusion, the future of traffic and marketing in the veterinary industry will be challenging, but with the right strategies and tools, veterinary hospitals can navigate these changes successfully. Remember to subscribe and leave reviews on various podcast platforms to support the show and help us continue bringing you valuable insights.

In this episode of the Veterinary Marketing Podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with two incredible veterinarians, Dr. Deborah Rotman and Dr. Christie Cornelius. We discussed their groundbreaking project, Vet Spark, and how it's revolutionizing end-of-life care services in veterinary practices.

Before we dive into the episode, I want to give a special shoutout to our sponsors for this episode - Used Vet Equipment and New Vet Equipment. These platforms are a game-changer for veterinarians looking to buy or sell both used and new equipment, from cages to x-ray machines and everything in between.

Now, let's talk about our amazing guests. Dr. Rotman and Dr. Cornelius have a wealth of experience in veterinary medicine and have successfully built and sold their own practices. Their passion for improving end-of-life care for pets is truly inspiring.

During our conversation, Dr. Rotman and Dr. Cornelius emphasized the importance of mobile end-of-life care. They suggested that smaller practices in the same area could collaborate or specialize in specific areas, like dental or radiology, to better serve their clients. They also proposed the idea of having a dedicated team within a practice solely focused on end-of-life care.

We also delved into the topic of mobile euthanasia services and how veterinary practices can incorporate them into their existing client base. Our guests recommended starting by offering the service internally to current clients and then developing a marketing plan to attract new clients specifically for end-of-life services.

Now, you might be wondering about the equipment needed for mobile euthanasia services. According to Dr. Cornelius, it's actually quite simple. You don't need a fancy mobile vehicle; a regular car like a Subaru Forester would do just fine. And for larger pets, a stretcher is all you need. The key is having the necessary skills, medications, and confidence to perform euthanasia in different situations.

Dr. Rotman and Dr. Cornelius also emphasized the importance of differentiating veterinary practices and marketing their unique offerings. Understanding clients' needs and educating them about available treatments and services is crucial. They also mentioned the potential of leveraging technical staff and customer service to create a comprehensive palliative care program.

Expanding services and building networks are essential for veterinary practices. Our guests shared strategies like skill development in areas such as vena puncture and intra-renal injections for euthanasia in cats. They also suggested reaching out to other veterinary clinics in the area to introduce yourself and request to be added to their referral list.

When it comes to pricing services, Dr. Rotman and Dr. Cornelius advised against solely basing prices on competition. Instead, they recommended considering the value and costs associated with the service and establishing a pricing strategy that reflects both aspects.

If you're interested in learning more or need guidance in end-of-life care practices, start-up practices, general practices, or crematories, Dr. Rotman and Dr. Cornelius offer their consulting services through Vet Spark Consulting.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Cornelius and Dr. Rotman for sharing their invaluable insights. If you have any questions or need assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to them at vetsparkconsulting@gmail.com.

Thank you so much for tuning in to today's episode. I hope you found it enjoyable and informative. Your support means the world to us, and we can't wait to bring you more valuable content in our next episode. Until then, have a fantastic day, everyone!

In this episode, I'm sharing four simple marketing ideas that can help veterinary hospitals attract and retain clients.

First up, I always recommend including a call to action on every marketing piece. Whether it's a flyer, social media post, or email, make sure there's a clear next step for potential clients to take. This can be anything from scheduling an appointment to signing up for a newsletter.

Next, it's important to review the performance of your front desk staff when it comes to handling calls. Mishandling calls can result in lost revenue, so it's crucial to make sure your staff is trained to handle inquiries and schedule appointments effectively.

Third, email and text message marketing can be incredibly effective for attracting and retaining clients. By providing value and building relationships through regular communication, you can keep your practice top of mind and encourage repeat visits.

Finally, it's important to make your marketing, content, and website unique to your practice. Avoid commoditization by showcasing what makes your practice special and different from others in the area. This can help attract better clients who are a better fit for your practice.

By implementing these ideas, you can improve your digital marketing efforts and see massive results. And don't forget to check out the sponsor of the episode, Used Vet Equipment and New Vet Equipment by Brad Haven, for all your veterinary equipment needs. Thanks for tuning in!

As a business owner, I know that time is my most valuable asset. But what if I could delegate some of my tasks to someone else? That's where virtual assistants come in. Tobe shared his experience in hiring and training virtual assistants from the Philippines to help businesses save time and increase productivity.

During our conversation, Tobe explained that virtual assistants can do almost anything, from admin tasks like screening emails and managing calendars to marketing tasks like creating social media posts and videos. By hiring a virtual assistant, businesses can focus on high-value tasks while saving time and money.

But how do you find the right virtual assistant for your business? Katuva.com offers a six-week onboarding process called Empower Plus, which includes a kickoff call to understand your needs, a DISC assessment to match you with a compatible VA, and over-the-shoulder calls to review progress and ensure a solid working relationship has been established.

Tobe also shared his team's strategy of sending small gifts to clients who refer them to others. Investing time and effort in building systems in the beginning can save a lot of time and increase consistency in the long run. Building a client experience system can also help retain clients and attract new ones.

The pricing for hiring a virtual assistant through Kava.com is also reasonable, with part-time VAs costing $695 a month and full-time VAs costing $1350 a month, which works out to be less than $8 an hour.

In conclusion, virtual assistants can help businesses thrive by allowing owners to focus on high-value tasks while delegating other tasks to remote workers. Katuva.com offers a comprehensive onboarding process and reasonable pricing, making it a great option for businesses looking to hire a virtual assistant. So, if you're looking to save time and increase productivity, consider hiring a virtual assistant today!

I'm excited to dive into a topic that's essential for veterinary hospitals - long-form content. As a hospital, you want to attract high-quality clients who trust your expertise and values. But how can you do that through your content?

In this episode of the Veterinary Marketing Podcast, we'll explore the importance of creating both short-form and long-form content, with a focus on the latter. Long-form content, such as podcasts and videos, allows you to provide more value to your clients and dive deeper into specific topics. Clients who engage with long-form content are more likely to believe in your recommendations and have a shorter buying decision process. They may also be more informed about your hospital's values and approach to veterinary care.

But why does long-form content have such a powerful impact? It comes down to trust and credibility. When you take the time to create in-depth content, you demonstrate your expertise and dedication to your field. Clients are more likely to trust you and see you as a valuable resource, which can lead to long-term loyalty.

Of course, short-form content like reels and stories also have their place in your content strategy. They can capture attention and provide a quick glimpse into your hospital's personality and services. However, don't neglect the potential benefits of long-form content.

So, how can you get started with long-form content? Don't be intimidated! Consider topics that your clients may be interested in, and think about how you can provide in-depth value. Don't forget to showcase your personality and approach to veterinary care.

At the end of the day, creating both short-form and long-form content can help you attract and retain high-quality clients for your veterinary hospital. Give it a try and see the impact it can make. And if you need any help or have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us for content marketing assistance. As always, thanks for tuning in to the Veterinary Marketing Podcast!

So, what makes TikTok so special? Ariel believes that TikTok offers a unique opportunity to connect with clients and show them what goes on behind the scenes. With over 60 million views and 10 million likes in just six months, she has seen an increase in clients who have found them through the platform. Once they grab someone's attention on TikTok, they tend to become more dedicated clients.

But how can you create engaging content on TikTok? Ariel suggests using trending songs, adding captions, and posting frequently to increase engagement. She also emphasizes the importance of showing personality in videos and making jokes to hook viewers in. And don't forget to engage with viewers in the comments section, which she achieves by creating recurring characters that people love.

While some people may argue that TikTok is not local or regional, Ariel notes that TikTok allows for more niche communities to form. Hey everyone, it's Brandon Breshears, and in this episode of the Veterinary Marketing Podcast, we're going to talk about something that's really important for your veterinary practice's marketing strategy: upgrading to Google Analytics 4.

Now, if you're not already aware, the old version of Google Analytics, Universal Analytics, is being sunsetted in July, which means you need to switch over to GA4 as soon as possible. But don't worry, it's not just about upgrading for the sake of it - GA4 is actually a better product that comes with a lot of benefits for your practice.

First of all, GA4 integrates really well with other Google products, which means you can get a more comprehensive view of your marketing efforts across different channels. And, it allows for more detailed event tracking and conversion tracking, so you can really understand how people are engaging with your website and where you can make improvements.

But here's the thing: if you don't make the switch to GA4, you're going to miss out on valuable data and benchmarks that you'll need to inform your marketing decisions. Without this information, you won't be able to see what's working and what's not, and you could end up wasting your marketing budget on tactics that aren't effective.

The good news is that by making the switch, you'll get better insights, more conversion actions, and better linking across products. It's really a no-brainer if you want to stay ahead of the game in the competitive world of veterinary practice marketing.

And hey, before we wrap up, I want to give a shoutout to our sponsors for this episode: UsedVetEquipment.com and NewVetEquipment.com. Be sure to check them out if you're in the market for veterinary equipment - they've got some great deals!

So, don't wait any longer - listen and make the switch to GA4 today and start getting the insights you need to take your veterinary practice marketing to the next level.

Over the past few years, artificial intelligence tools specifically within the marketing space have been creeping up, but over the past couple of months huge strides have been made, and chatGPT has gone viral if you haven't been seeing a slew of AI created images or people raving about how good the AI created text is you probably haven't been on Facebook in the past month.

In this episode, we talked about how to use these new and emerging AI tools to improve your veterinary practice’s marketing. I'm extremely excited for the future and what all of these tools for business owners, and content creators.

I dive into the implications of what a tools can do, the major categories of tools that I think are going to be most impactful, especially across the content creation side of marketing, and then what that actually means in terms of impact.

I think this new emergence of ChatGPT signals a new paradigm shift, much like the disruption the internet caused in the past.

In Today's episode we have a special guest, it's Rhonda Belle from DogDaysConsulting.com and she's sharing her insights on branding and building your veterinary hospitals presence online. I found the interview to be incredibly insightful and gives us some super practical tips for creating a brand that's going to attract the right kind of clients to your Veterinary Hospital.

We cover everything from how to develop a brand for your Veterinary practice, to how to handle and approach your team members to creating their own brands in practice, and much more!

I really liked having Rhonda on because she is a CVPM and has a ton of in-practice experience. This lends itself to giving tips and tools that are actually going to be used, especially when it comes to creating content, which usually gets put on the back burner.

So often, you'll hear the word authenticity turn around when it comes to creating content and building a brand oh, but what does that actually mean? I really liked Rhonda's examples of how to figure out what you want to be about and then how to communicate that. Ronda also has some really great insight into creating additional streams of income, which I think is incredibly powerful, especially because there's a huge need when it comes to Brands reaching consumers All Brands reaching other Veterinary professionalsIf you want to see how Rhonda and her team can help your veterinary practice, be sure to head on over to DogDaysConsulting.com

In this episode we talk all about optimization. Optimization is the secret tool that almost no one uses in the bedroom industry when it comes to their marketing. Most practices will set out to create some kind of marketing, whether its content marketing, social marketing or anything else for that matter, they'll execute that and then never think about it again.

If you're taking the time to do the act of creating content, ads or something else but not taking time to reflect and make adjustments you're missing out big time! The optimization lets you make dramatic improvements on what you're already doing, and more importantly cut out the stuff that is not working for you and your Veterinary practice.

The crazy thing about optimization is that a 2% increase in conversion can lead to a 17% reduction in cost per conversion. Imagine that you're able to decrease the cost it takes to bring in a new client by 17%! You would be dramatically more profitable!

In this episode we break down the most crucial things to think about when it comes to optimization that apply to any kinds of marketing. I didn't focus on specific optimization tactics because those are going to be very greatly between what it is that you're doing. Example if you were doing social media marketing optimization for posts his going to look different than if you were doing email marketing.

This process really comes down to ensuring that you have proper tracking and analytics set up so that you can make informed decisions on what works and what doesn't. Next you're going to want to test your hypothesis on why something is working to get a better understanding of how your marketing is bringing in clients. If you need help with any of this please don't hesitate to reach out.

In this in-between episode I give you a quick tip that will dramatically help you improve your content’s reach, engagement and conversion.

The truth is, I initially thought hat when it came to content creation, the most important element was well, the content.  The truth is, you need to fucs just as much on the topic, hook and engagement tactics to get more out of what you’re doing.

When I started working on ideas and hooks, the numbers went up, and I was able to increase retention. It all starts with the first click and the first engagement, and if you don’t have a shot at getting that, there isn’t any point to making the content itself.

In today's episode I cover the essential Elements you need to consider when you're creating content for Veterinary Hospital. A lot of the content that I create in the past year has been dramatically different from previous years, because I've been intentionally trying to improve the content, reach and engagement of the things that I do create. In this episode, I'll detail the most important elements that you need to consider before during and after content creation.

When it comes to content I believe that now more than ever you need to focus on your Niche Target audiences. I like to call these audiences buckets or content buckets. Within each bucket, you'll have subgroups, and you want to test and try targeting the subgroups for example in your general buckets you'll have things like dog owners, or cat owners and then in the sub buckets, you'll have content related to kittens more large breed dogs or senior pets. The more specific that you get within your Niche typically the more useful it will be to that Niche audience.

One of the most important elements that I used to pass over was attracting more attention, and getting as many views and clicks on the content as possible. Now I'll spend a lot more time thinking about the idea of the hook and how to engage and then go through the creation process.

Do you want to be more successful with your content start out with your content buckets that you'll be focusing on, clearly identify the sub Niche audiences that you'll Target, think about how to hook these people and engage them in your content and then have relevant offers. You should also be targeting a lot of your content towards conversion so that you can see actual return on investment from your content.

Once you're done creating content make sure that you're naming it in a way that you can easily access it and use it. The naming convention process is really helpful both in the creation, especially if you have a team that is also working on your content, as well as repurposing and reusing content you’ve created in the past.

Should your veterinary practice use text message marketing? There are many reasons why I think text message marketing is incredibly important and only gaining steam, but here are a few:

First, text messaging for your veterinary practice is a marketing is an owned medium, so you can control how often the texts go out, what the message is and when people get it.

Second, text messaging is highly effective when it comes to open rates. You can’t beat it. Period. If you need to fill appointments or schedules getting text messages out really helps to get response.

Third, it isn’t going anywhere. Text messaging is only gaining traction and as a medium it is probably one of the most effective ways you can market. On top of that, you already have a contact list in your PMS.

IN this episode I cover some of the best text messaging platforms out there that allow you to create automation flows, allow you to connect on a 1-to-1 basis as well as a 1-to-many basis.

The items I talk about are:
Twilio.com
Manychat.com

Community.com

Do you ever feel like you’re addicted to learn more? I know there are times when I can find myself constantly consuming  new books, podcasts, training and courses and it usually doesn’t result in better marketing.

At least for me, the act of learning can become what feels like an achievement rather than implementation. In today’s episode, I cover the framework that I use so that I don’t get distracted by trying to learn more and more without implementing.

Hopefully this will help you improve your veterinary practice’s marketing so that you can grow the practice of your dreams.

Most better hospitals don't have client generation systems in place. The proof is when things slow down all of a sudden they ask, quotes what should I do to get more appointments?

I can't tell you how many conversations I've had lately that have turn off by saying we're down by 20%, or we have a lot of appointments open this week, what should we do?

So today's episode is to give you a clear path on what you need to do so that you can generate new clients without worry.

We talk about first identifying who you want to be targeting, then we talked about creating your offer and finally applying traffic so that you can generate more new clients for your Veterinary Hospital.

When you think about marketing your Veterinary practice, there's really only two very basic ways to approach your strategy kolin you can either Target People based on their behavior or Target People based on their demographics. All marketing essentially boils down to that.

this is why it's so important that we first figure out who we want to be targeting so that we can decide if we need to create an offer that's going to appeal to somebody who's taking an action or somebody do we have to interrupt based on their demographic or psychographic data

if you can really nail down who your ideal Prospect is along with an offer that's going to be irresistible to them the last step is simply applying traffic, and it isn't that difficult to generate your perfect clients.

In this episode, we covered the easiest way in my opinion to get better at marketing for your Veterinary Hospital: using Google analytics. Google Analytics is a great product that's been around for now almost two decades, but very few veterinary hospitals that I know actually use it. The truth is most Veterinary practices, and small businesses for that matter have analytics installed on their site but the crazy reality is that about 70% of people never actually look at what's going on.

The easiest way to get better at marketing is to understand:

1) how you're getting traffic
2) how the traffic is engaging with your site end

3) how to make improvements so that you increase your conversion, and retention which will turn into better results

Most people can't remember what they ate for lunch 2 days ago. Yet, they expect that they're going to be able to remember what works and what doesn't when it comes to marketing, messaging, call to action, or anything else related to digital marketing.

we need to fix that approach, make sure that you're tracking where traffic is coming from, and how it's engaging, so that you can set benchmarks and understand if there's problems or slowdowns you can correctly assess and identify the problems. Let’s say your appointments dropped suddenly by 20%, how would you understand what is causing this problem? If you don’t have accurate data or benchmarks, you’ll have to guess and hope you’re right.

Imagine if you had to run your veterinary hospital but you weren't allowed to examine the pet, run any tests, or do any Diagnostics you just had to instinctively know what the problem was and provide a solution. That's the approach most people take when it comes to marketing. next episode a break down some of the basic data that you can assess based on Google Analytics, I talked about the easiest ways to track your traffic and how to use Google analytics with other products like tag manager and Adwords

In today's podcast, I share the 6 most crucial fundamental marketing steps to use to grow and transform your veterinary practice digital marketing. These activities are the bare minimum to use in your digital marketing that will drive returns in your marketing.

1) Analytics -We need to have Google ads, google tag manager, goals, and events all set up. Need to understand how your traffic is getting there. Figuring out where each audience is coming from.

2) System for generating customers, clients, and lead flow.- A steady stream of people who want and need your services as well as a way to engage with potential clients. And understanding exactly what you offer and why they are beneficial to clients.

3) Email marketing- Send at least a weekly email to customers

4) Text message marketing- Having text as an option is quicker and if done correctly can be highly beneficial

5) Content marketing strategy - If we have all the other steps already in place the content will drive more traffic to your site, referalls to your practice and overall just perform better.

and 6) Testing and optimization - We should always be trying new things and seeing what works in our marketing and continues to work. Testing lets us experiment and expand in new areas and ways with out having to start from scratch.

In today's podcast, I talk about the state of social media we currently see it, what's working, what's not working on social media, and some of the most important trends for your veterinary practice.

Some of the most significant changes we have seen on social media have been typically in and surrounding content.

We see changes in each one of these areas:

How content is shared

How content is created

and How content is distributed

but the biggest change we've seen and continue to see is how people engage with content.

Most platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have for the most part been pretty consistent with their algorithm for the last 3 years and haven't had any major groundbreaking changes to their algorithm. We also see that across platforms there are different behaviors now. We are moving more towards niche type of content rather than personal relationship content of people you actually know. Creating content that is general and vague is just not going to perform well. Niching down to very specific audiences is going to be more beneficial to your practice. Data hygiene is now also something to really focus on as a post-IOS 14 time. We need to make sure we have good conversion data you can give these platforms to know how you are performing which is your top priority. The second priority is learning to niching down to your specific subgroups within groups.

In Today's podcast, I am joined by social media marketing expert Cheyanne Flerx from Hey Cheyanne again! We talk about social media marketing with intentionality, how to find the best type of marketing, how to target organic content, how to establish your goals for your practice, And overall how to succeed with your social media marketing.

Cheyanne got her start in veterinary medicine as a vet assistant. She was introduced to the world of social media marketing in the veterinary space by being given the task of updating the practice's Facebook page. Now she runs her own brand, Hey Cheyanne where she is a social media marketing educator and coach helping other Veterinary practices.

We are now seeing a shift in social media in general but definitely in veterinary marketing. And something that practices need to figure out is. What is the core reason or why you are using social media in your practice? That is the key practices need to find so they can effectively have their marketing work and attract the clients you want to draw in. Also building deep connections through content with the clients you have clearly defined as your target audience will grow your bond much farther than generic content.

We also share much more thoughts on current social media trends, platforms, and functionality.

Michael Shirley from Family Pet Health joins us again! In today's podcast, We cover how to do community marketing by how to use a podcast to get on radio stations, creating events in your local community area, writing for local newspapers, and much more. Community marketing is a great way to build awareness of your practice while actively growing your clientele right around you and becoming a known name of the community. Michael shares how he creates and produces his content for his community marketing.

Create your podcast contact with a script or at least an idea of what topic you'll be covering. As well as creating content for your client avatar and what they want to learn and hear about. Invest in a good microphone, can be small and portable to have great sound quality. Having an easy to use editing software either on your phone or desktop is also very helpful. Michael likes Twisted Wave for phones and Audacity Once the podcast is created and ready to go it can be sent out to local radio stations which can take 30 seconds to 1 minute clips that can be used as news for pet owners. Also, create podcast content that you can share with your client's insight and behind the scenes of your practice.

You can create and write a press release of local pet issues and news that are happening and send them to local newspaper companies or even online newspapers.

Michael created an event for the Walk My Dog Program and teamed up with 8 local businesses to sponsor them and their event giving out prizes for people at the event.

In Today's episode, I talk all about tracking your marketing and specifically marketing metrics. It is no surprise that tracking your marketing has become more difficult within the last few years. With the Apple IOS 14s privacy update, IOS 15 with even more changes is on the horizon. and even Google has added difficulties to tracking your digital marketing.

With both Apple and Google coming against Facebook tracking pixels it has made marketers have to find different ways to track conversions and metrics. I share some ways you can create easy ways to see where your traffic is going.

1 Have Google analytics and 2 Google Tag Manager installed on every page of your website

3 Set up pages based on channels- Create landing pages for specific channels so you know where that click came from

4 Use UTM Codes- We went over what UTM codes are and do in the last episode in depth. UTM Codes are little streams of coding attached to URLs that you can create to see where customers come from specific channels.

5 Native Conversions tools through the specific channels, Which we will talk in-depth in a future episode

In Today's episode, I am continuing off last week's episode using the Maverick Marketing Method and I'm sharing how to create offers for your niche specific audiences. I go over how to make and present offers and what is the best way to do that.

As we covered last week in the first part of the Maverick Marketing Method. The first step of creating your offers is knowing exactly the audience you are targeting. Really scale down the audience you want to market to market to. We also covered figuring out what products and services we will be selling to these groups we have defined.

Now to create the offer we need to find out your audience's pain points.

What does this audience need a solution for in the lives of their pets? How can you make this offer more valuable?

List out what is included in your offer- Most people are unaware of what exactly is included in many services. if they see all t

How do the features benefit the clients and their pets? Do these services provide a solution for your client's pain points?

Digital Marketing is getting more difficult with how much competition is out there and practices are busier than ever right now, so In today’s episode, I share how to make your marketing effective for your veterinary marketing. I share with you the Maverick Marketing Method which I created and use for my clients. I'll go over ways you can make your digital marketing be more effective and efficient that will be beneficial for your veterinary practice.

Now there are 3 ways to grow your business typically

-Cut cost

-Increase Prices

-Increase Frequency

From a digital marketing standpoint the best way we can grow your practice is by focusing on the the last 2 methods. Increasing prices and increasing frequency can work hand and hand together to ultimately help you weed out what you don't need to spend money or focus on. With both of these, we need to be increasing revenue and growth which should be the primary focus on digital marketing.

With increasing revenue, we need to do it the most effective way possible with out having you and your staff burnt out. Ask these questions in your marketing.

-What services can I offer that will generate the highest margin revenue? What is the best use of your time?

-Which of these services do you love doing the most? How can you still enjoy your job and make it fun?

-Who is the minimum viable audience for these services? Target the people that truly need an want your services.

In Today's episode, special guest Crystal Cuadra-Cutler from the sociable pet on Instagram joins us on the podcast to talk about many social media marketing topics where we cover Instagram, Tik Tok, and more.

Crystal got into Veterinary medicine over 20 years ago starting out as a veterinary assistant and working all the way up to hospital manager. She then got into social media marketing in the veterinary space over 5 years ago when she started doing her hospital digital marketing. She now works full-time doing social media marketing for the veterinary space and helps 17 other practices.

We discuss how Veterinary practices are now in a time where most if not all have at least one form of social media platform they are on. And as times continue to change so do the goals of your social media marketing. Focusing our returning clients with our social media marketing especially for very overwhelmed practices is a great way to continue building their brand with their followers. Having a well-rounded mix of content types with your social media post to keep your audience connected with your practice or brand by getting to know your values and practices. And so much more!

In Today’s Episode, Craig Spinks from Veteos joins me on the podcast to take a deep dive into video marketing for your veterinary practice. We talk all about video and cover video marketing, production, creation, and more.

Craig got his start in video production over 20 years ago and has been working exclusively with the vet industry for over the last 5 years creating and producing top notch high quality videos for veterinary practices.

Videos for most veterinary practices have been a weak point as video production and creation can come off overwhelming and difficult for busy practices. But videos can be one of the most effective content an marketing mechanisms when done right. Videos have so much benefit to them as they have an additional element than text and that is emotion. Through video you can connect, create bonds, and convey what cant come through text.

The great thing about how fast modern day technology moves is how we now have high quality cameras sometimes in our very hands. So while amazing cameras do exist not necessarily are the deal breaker to being able to produce and create high quality content for your practices marketing. Video is a tool you can use in your marketing to reach your practices digital marketing goals.

Be sure to check out Veteos on demand where you can use Veteos templates to create your own high quality high production videos. Or get in contact to learn how we can a create custom video for your practice. Or check out Veteos new co produce option where we take the best parts of both options an work together to create your videos. You can check all this at Veteos website here

In Today's Episode, Brian Macrae from Rethink Veterinary Solutions and Rethink Loyalty joins me for the third time on the podcast! We talk about wellness plans, memberships, payment plans, and marketing with loyalty in mind. Brian has been working in the veterinary space since 2012 by creating the Rethink Veterinary Solutions and actually was how I got involved and started in the veterinary industry.

The goals of providing memberships and wellness plans in your practice for your clients are to retain and keep your current clients, have your clients come in more frequently, and gain more new clients. Having clear goals will help you market even better.

Key elements for making your memberships and wellness plans work for your practice are setting up your plans to be as automated as possible for your administration. Having also it made easy and clear to articulate to clients will help your adoption rate.

Creating the most ideal loyalty reward program for today would be taking the elements from both a membership structure and a wellness program and combining them together to create a payment plan that is automated for ease of clients.

And we cover so much more. Be sure to listen and let me know if you have any questions, comments, or need help with anything!

We are celebrating 7 years of The Veterinary Marketing Podcast! Over the last 7 years, it has been amazing to see just how far digital marketing and veterinary practices have come and how much they have grown over the years. In these last 7 years, we have seen an immense amount of growth in digital marketing, with growth comes competition and with competition comes needing to stand out. In today’s episode, I am sharing 7 important lessons you can apply to your veterinary practice's digital marketing so your practice can stand out.

Here are 7 things you can do to make sure your marketing stands out:

1) Create A Client Avatar- Having a client avatar helps you know exactly how you do want to target and market to and who you do not want to target. Creating your perfect client and really getting specific about what are their wants, needs, and problems will give you a clear direction of what to market to them.

2) Have Specificity- Tying in with the first lesson, having very specific content and offers will help you really target the best audience for your practice

3) Dial In Your Offers- What does your audience want or need and how can you make an offer be valuable to your ideal clients.

4) Use Landing Pages- Get specific with your offers and make their own landing pages.

5) Have Goals- Defining and having very clear and specific goals will help your digital marketing go so much smoother by knowing exactly what you are expecting.

6) KPIs- Measuring your goals with KPIs and being aware of if you are reaching the clear goals you have decided.

7) Build Assests- Create content, email sequences, text sequences, etc that can be used over and over again and even automated will save you so much time.

In today's episode, I go over content, content types, content creation, and content strategies for your veterinary practice. While we have gone over content in the past, the world and how content creation is done have changed. With creating content it is super important to have a content strategy that you exacts of who you are targeting and what you are putting out. With how much content is out on the internet it is important to move away from general info and content. With your content, you will want to have high quality and high value information you are providing your audience with.

Let's talk about the content types that are working now and in the future and the 4 mediums you can use:

Text-Blog Post

Image-Facebook, Instagram, and social posts

Audio- Podcasts

and Video- Most bang for your buck option because it can be used for years over and over again

An example of a content strategy I would use in a veterinary practice would be. Knowing who I want to target, who I want coming through the door and what they are interested in. Create 1 pillar piece of content a month that is super high quality. And create this content that is very specific and niche for your unique audience. Creating long form content (which is content that lasts over 10 minutes long) allows you to stand out by providing your audience super high quality information and content that is valuable.

In today's episode, I am joined by special guest Abby Herman content and email marketing extraordinaire from The Content Experiment where we discuss content marketing but more specifically email marketing and how you can use email marketing in your veterinary practice to grow.

Abby has been working with her business full time since 2016 where she has helped many people with their content marketing and email marketing. Her company helps their clients build out strategies for their content marketing around what they want to share and put out for their audiences.

Veterinary practices can grow their content marketing by getting to know what their clients are actually wanting and needing by sending out surveys. Surveys can include what challenges are your clients facing at the moment, how they like to consume their content and information about pets (to know where you can reach them), and what seasonal issues could be a concern for them. Practices can figure out what clients want and need by surveys to generate content topics and posts.

Using email to reach your clients on a regular basis to be sure to keep your practice at the top of their mind rather than getting lost in the inbox by only checking in once or twice a year. Treat your emails to clients as a way to add value to their lives and to keep your audience informed with helpful and useful information about pet care and how they can keep their pets healthy and safe.

In today's episode, It's all about Youtube ads! I share what you need to know about Youtube ads types, ad placements, the different placements you get to chose, and all the opportunities for your veterinary practice using youtube ads.

Here the 6 types of placements are:

-Skippable In-stream Ads

This placement is the most recognizable and most common choice where you have the option to place at the beginning, middle, or end of the video has to be a minimum of 15 Seconds long or longer. These are a great choice for your first impression so potential clients can get an understanding of who you are by learning more through the ad.

-Non-Skippable In-stream Ads

has to be a maximum of 15 Seconds long or shorter. Non-skippable ads are great for retargeting people who have looked into your practice before.

-Out Stream Ads

This ad placement varies for the others as this ad is an autoplay. This Ad plays automatically and is mobile-only. While you would have great impressions and views its probably not a choice to use for your veterinary practice as there is no intent behind the views.

-Conversion Ads

Great for online sales and stores and you get to select the outcome you want however it comes with a need for a big budget

-Ad sequences

Creates a sequence of videos and delivers to your ad audience in a specific order. Perfect to consider to use for your employment ads

-Shopping Ads

Great placement to sell physical items in your practice that is underutilized by vet practices

In Todays Episode I am joined by special guest Brandon Boyd from Vet and Pet SEO and The Practice Heist Podcast to talk about SEO and digital marketing for your veterinary practice. We share some strategies, approaches, and even misconceptions in digital marketing and SEO.

Here are some key approaches and strategies to think about for your veterinary practice digital marketing.

-Solve a Problem First

Frame your sale in a way that provides your clients with solutions to their problems or concerns by focusing on the benefits of a service, product, etc rather than just the features of the product and service.

-Narrow Down Tactics and Strategies

Have a very clear strategy that you can use for your digital marketing that will actually work and help your practice grow.

-Create Expert Knowledge Content

Your content that your practice produces is very important because you want to create content that will serve your current clients but also allow you to reach new audiences. Create expert professional level content that is easy for your audience to understand and comprehend but also evergreen that can be relevant at any time.

-Create Content First and Find Keywords Second

While keywords in your headlines are great for increasing your SEO ranking be sure to create content for your audience first and then find your keywords. SEO may tell you where you rank but it doesn't give insight into your conversion rate.

In Todays Episode I share updates that are coming to reviews in the future, some different trends and things to think about in terms of reviews of your practice, helpful strategies you can build out for your reviews, and how you can prepare for the review changes coming in the future.

Reviews for veterinary practices are very important and following 2020 reviews have begun to change due to fewer reviews being left and become even more important for all businesses. The same way most people look at reviews before purchasing anything online, people will look at reviews for your practice to gauge if they want to become a client. While reviews are very important and a lot of potential clients search for reviews sometimes they are met with very polarizing either 5 or 1 star reviews there are not very many middle of the road reviews. And a lot of people are becoming warier of reviews questioning the legitimacy of reviews in general.

Some strategies you can use to get even more good reviews and have people looking

  • Turn your best and trusted reviews into a personal recommendation. Ask your clients that have left glowing reviews to say a few words or testimonials on video that you can share on your social media or even website. Giving potential clients a chance to see its not just words on a screen.

-Develop a system to incentivize clients to leave reviews pretty consistently

-Integrate your reviews into your website, content, or email newsletters so you own your reviews.

In Todays Episode I share the very important and rapidly changing privacy policies that are going to affect how we run ads in the future. With Google following Apple's lead with IOS 14 Privacy changes we are going to see even more changes from these ad platforms and possibly others too.

As we have talked about in previous episodes their is a privacy battle going on between Facebook, Apple, and Google. Apple made the announcement with IOS 14 that they would no longer allow pixel tracking, which Facebook gathers most of its data from. In 2019 Google announced that it would in the future no longer allow third party cookie tracking on Google chrome browsers. Now Cookie tracking (short pieces of javascript code) would only be allowed for first party cookies (owned by the website owner from an independent source) and not third party cookies (from advertisers like Facebook).

Google has now announced on March 3rd that they are changing their rules and will no longer be using the data they have collected from first party cookies anymore. Google is now creating a new system that provides better options for them and their services and products. Which in turn will give google ad users even more options with their advertising. Which for many users who are using Facebook and Instagram exclusively it may be time to diversify your ad platforms for your digital marketing.

In Todays Episode I share 3 common misconceptions that could be holding back your digital marketing and possibly be hurting the growth of your veterinary practice. I also share how you can combat these misconceptions to help your practice's marketing grow and perform better.

The 3 marketing misconceptions and what you can do instead:

1) Chasing tactics and gimmicks with your marketing- Instead of relying on pitches from marketing company have very clear goals of what you are looking to achieve in your practice's marketing. Find marketing companies and professionals that you trust and can express your goals and trust their judgment to best execute your marketing plan.

2) Waiting for business to slow down to start marketing- While it is hard to imagine during a super busy streak ever slowing down ultimately it is inevitable and does happen eventually. Don't wait for business to start slowing down to start really focusing on your practice's marketing. Setting up your funnels and all your automation (email, messaging, ads, etc...), while you are your busiest, is one of the best things you can do in your marketing. Be proactive instead of reactive with your marketing.

3) Assuming that digital marketing will stay consistent- Find how you can have steady traffic streams to draw your best clients into your practice. Create through different channels additional ways to keep your clients coming through the door of your practice.

In Todays Episode I am joined by special guest Phil Masi from Restoration Marketing! We talk about helpful and easy ideas and uses for chat marketing that you can bring into your veterinary practice's digital marketing.

Chat marketing is using real-time conversations with clients to provide information and help. Automating your messages to serve your clients and point them in the directions they need to go and provide them with helpful information on the spot. With chat marketing specifically in the way of Facebook chatbot messaging you can create fully automated conversational flows with clients. Just like email marketing is able to be fully automated to have replies, chat marketing cuts down the response time and is an easy and time-saving tool to have in your veterinary practices digital marketing. People even more nowadays are turning to chat forms of communication as a preferred way of communicating over email or phone calls. Chat marketing is also able to tie into paid ads giving you an extra way to reach new clients.

In today's episode, I am talking about Facebook ads! I share some of the big changes that have happened recently to Facebook as a result of the big tech wars that have been going on this last year and even before. I also share how these changes affect veterinary practices, what you can do to improve your targeting, how you can keep your ads from going crazy from all these changes, and some things you can think about for the growth of your marketing using Facebook and Instagram Ads.

Because of the last few years of controversies with Facebook, they have been made to change their tracking and data collection thus changing how their ads ultimately work. With the newest wave of scrutiny coming from apple with their IOS 14 update of not allowing third-party pixels or cookies to be used on their users it has been impactful for the platform. By using their aggregated measurement tool Facebook now has a new way to track conversion events from ios 14 users.

Other ways you can collect conversion events and data include:

Using UTM tracking- UTM codes are a great method to use for analytics for your ads. Creating the UTM codes at the end of your URLs allows you to gather data from each platform in an easy way.

Create Landing Pages - Creating landing pages for each platform and every ad. You will be able to easily see where traffic is coming from.

In Todays Episode I share how you can use paid ads to attract new people to work in your veterinary practice. I also talk about what works and what doesn't with employment ads on each platform and 3 placements that will be beneficial for your veterinary practices employment.

3 of the best placements for employment ads

1) Facebook- Facebook is great for ads however when it comes to employment ads the rules are a bit different and have only limited targeting options, but is still a good option to get organic engagement. Your reach can expand from shares and tagging.

2) Google- Google Ads is another good option for employment ads as the people searching for a job actively need or are wanting a job. While on one hand, it may not be a lot of volume in searches their searches are filled with the intent of seeking employment at a veterinary practice. Keeping your employment ads to search ads through google is the best option as you will reach a more interested audience looking for a job in a veterinary practice.

3) Linkedin- Linkedin is a great place to have employment ads running. Linkedin platform allows for the most targeting when it comes to employment ads allowing targeting through company, length of employment, degree, field of study, current job title, and region. There are also two placements you can run your ads, Through their content feed (almost like a Facebook post outlining the job description, benefits, and more) and through their In Mail messaging ads (custom detailed messaging about job opportunities). With all your options of targeting be sure to tailor your employment ads to target the perfect employee for your practice.

In Todays Episode I share how you can get more done in your Veterinary practices digital marketing with some time saving tools and tips. I will be sharing how you can maximize certain types of activities that will help you create long term growth for your veterinary practice.

These tips and tools help your veterinary practices digital marketing become more efficient and more effective:

  • Sitting down and batching out your content to schedule your posts. Taking the time at least once a week to go through your content and figuring out what you want to post for the next few weeks. Popular choices are Hootsuite, Agorapulse, and Planoly.

  • Have a content library. Putting your pictures and past evergreen content that you can come back to and share throughout the years. Meet Edgar is a great choice to keep your content in a content library and you can schedule when a post will go out and what social channels it is shared on.

  • Creating content around client questions. Oftentimes people will ask what should I write about and the best thing to write about are things your clients will be curious about, have questions about, and an offer that is relevant to the post.

  • Naming Conventions. Be organized with how you and your staff name and label files, pictures, and documents. Google Drive allows you to name your folders easily. You can also use your naming conventions with UTM codes to easily see where you are pulling traffic.

In Todays Episode we are joined by special guests Tom Seeko and CJ Burnett from Flordia Veterinary Advisors where we talk about how you can improve your employment marketing at your veterinary practice. Using offer creation to attract the right kind of employees for your veterinary practice

Founders Tom Seeko and CJ Burnett teamed up to create Flordia veterinary advisors in 2014 where they specialize as financial advisors to help busy veterinarians, veterinary students, and practice owners across the country with their financial planning.

We cover how we can make offers attractive to attract new employees and how can we retain them and existing employees. Approaching a retention plan and coming up with employee agreements and arrangements that are actually beneficial to both new and existing employees and the veterinary practice itself. We also cover how to handle rewarding and recruiting employees and what each of those looks like and how you could create both of those types of packages to offer to new veterinary employees. We also share how you could structure a new package for veterinarians that are looking to buy or sell a veterinary practice and transition to ownership. Covering also how you can offer something to employees that would both be an incentive and benefit on both ends and much more!

In today’s episode, I share some of the best ways you can use to measure your veterinary practices conversion analytics. Now I know analytics can be tough and is, unfortunately, something that many practices have trouble with. What we are looking for in our analytics is conversions of where did the clients come from. Analytics help us be able to track and measure meaningful data to help us see what's working and what's not.

Some of the best ways to make your measuring analytic easier are:

-Create an offer that is only for a specific platform- your platforms can be each social platform, emails, blog post, etc. Think like a promo code. Clients only know about a specific offer because they found you through the specific post or ad.

-Create Individual landing pages for a specific platform- Using the same kind of idea as the last way to measure conversions, you can create landing pages that can only be accessed through your post, emails, and platforms.

-Use UTM Codes- Instead of creating individual landing pages when you don't have a web team you can create individual links! UTM codes attach a little code at the end of your link you are using helping you figure out where your audience is coming from through a link.

-Pixel Audiences- You can use either Facebook or Google pixels (such as Google Analytics) on your website.

As we near the end of the crazy year of 2020 we have 2021 to look forward to and take some time to reflect on your veterinary practice's digital marketing from the last year.

In today's episode, I cover how you can make your digital marketing amazing in the next new year. And the 5 tips you can use to get the absolute most of your digital marketing.

There are 5 things we can do to get the most out of your digital marketing:

1) Collect and Compile Marketing Data- Take time to go across your platforms (Facebook, Google, Instagram, etc)and collect all the data you have compiled over the year

2) Analyze- Taking the data you have compiled now is your time to analyze that data and see what worked, what didn't work, what you would change, what you will keep doing, and see how you can apply it to the future.

3) 80/20 Model- 80% of the results come from 20% of the activity. Using this method will help you readjust to find what you should get rid of and what you should be investing in more.

4)Targeting-Having clear targets of what you want to accomplish in your digital marketing and who is going to help you accomplish them is one of the most crucial steps. Make sure you have your perfect client avatar made to help you know exactly who you are marketing to.

5)Execution-Our last step is execution. Taking all the other steps and putting them to work.

In today's episode, I share some tips on how you can avoid some of the biggest scams people fall into in their digital marketing. I'll also share with you how to find the right partner for your veterinary practices digital marketing so you get the results you are looking for. We'll go over some tactics to look out for so you can get the best results from your partnerships.

When going into a partnership to bring on someone to help you with your veterinary practices digital marketing it's important that you find a good fit that will communicate and collaborate well together and that you have a foundation of trust. When working with others in your marketing whether it's one or more you will need to manage each area you are outsourcing. Having a solid ground of understanding and knowing what your ultimate goal is you are wanting to achieve in your veterinary practice will help you be able to easily communicate with your digital marketing partners.

Three things you need to know before working with a marketing company for your veterinary practice's digital marketing:

1)Clear Expectations - Being honest on both sides of what you are expecting to achieve with your partnership.

2)Agree on Strategies - Teaming up together to diagnose and prescribe strategies for your digital marketing

3)Frequent Communication - Having frequent meetings to communicate what is happening in your marketing.

Tactics to look out for that could lead to wasted money:

Geofencing

Mobile Display Ads- Think in app ads such as game ads

Marketing Companies that aren't transparent with your analytics or your ad spend

Link-building SEO or SEO without content

And lastly Companies or people selling marketing tactics before even looking at your marketing and diagnosing what your digital marketing needs.

In today's episode, I share how you can maximize your marketing and turn it into a system with evergreen content and offers. Picking up from last week's episode where we talked about having different types of content and offers to have for your practice, and about creating evergreen content and offers to have in rotation. Evergreen offers and content is a piece of marketing you can use over and over again across different platforms and channels, for years to come. These types of content and offers will help you focus on pieces that will produce results for a long time. As you are creating your offers and content you should create pieces that will help move potential clients down a funnel and ultimately become a real client.

There are 5 general types of content that you should create by answering typical questions pet owners are asking and looking for.

1) Wellness- What can you do to keep your pet healthy?

2)Prevention- How to minimize health risks and keep your pets safe?

3)Behaviour - How can I train my pet to do what I need them to learn?

4)Nutrition- What should you be feeding your pet?

5)Enrichment- How can I entertain my pet making both our lives easier and better.

Following those general types of content, another way to add information is by adding specificity while still keeping it relevant. You can make content a bit more specific by targeting the content towards

-Breeds

Big breed or small breed dog posts

-Age

Puppy, adult, and senior posts

-Conditions

Breed-specific conditions, senior conditions, or even common and rare conditions

-Location

Problems pet owners face in different areas in the country

-And Time of Year

seasonal must-have and awareness months

In today’s episode, I share some creative new strategies you can use to help keep your marketing costs down in your veterinary practice. As we get further into the holiday and political season we are starting to see more and more competitors in the paid ad space in turn driving up ad prices. These tips will help you implement ways to organically get traffic into your practice and lower your digital marketing costs.

The first strategy to use is focusing on content. The best time to build out your content is when your practice is busy and doing well, so you can always have it available to use during a slowdown. The two main things to focus on with your content is quality and specificity. Having high professional quality pieces of content is super beneficial as you can reuse them over again across platforms. Making your content very specific is also beneficial because you'll be able to target and speak to a very pinpointed group to drive in more clients like them.

Tactics you can also use to maximize your practices organic reach

-Let your clients know about each piece of content and offers you put out through your lists. Keep in communication with your list at least once a week

-Create a Facebook Group. Creating a Facebook group for your practice members is a great way to give your clients and potential clients a space to find all of your latest information.

-Social selling. Direct Response Social Post increases engagement and curiosity

-Build your email list. A great way to install cheap insurance for your veterinary practice. Let your list know about offers, content, upcoming events, and about your Facebook group

-Have Text message marketing

-And Facebook Messenger

In today's episode, I cover conversion tracking. How you can track conversions for your veterinary practice, what is the best way to track conversions, how to effectively know where your conversions are coming from, and more.

Conversion tracking can be a pretty difficult task to understand exactly where all of your conversions are taking place at first. By gaining an understanding of what is working with your conversions you are going to be able to perform better in your paid ads and social media. Typically in veterinary practices, you aren't selling online so you don't know automatically where your conversions are coming from.

Some of the simplest ways to track where your conversions are:

-Create special landing pages for different channels that can only  be accessed from the specific channel.

-Specific CTA for different channels

-And Promo codes that are only available through specific channels

Phone conversions are the hardest conversion to track given that most times clients are switching from devices to call, not fully converting where they first found you. A way to make this a bit easier is using call tracking software like callrail you can create individual phone numbers for each channel.

Url and pixel tracking for conversions is a very powerful tool to use. As digital marketing continues to change we could possibly see pixels becoming unavailable in the future. Moving towards URL and UTM tracking can you give you longevity in your conversion tracking.

And lastly through your veterinary practice management software to fully understand your conversions you will want to track

1The immediate average value of a client

2 Average of the first year of a client

3And lifetime value on average of a client

In today's episode, I am talking about using funnels in your veterinary practices digital marketing, I cover what is a funnel, do you need one for your practice, common misconceptions about funnels, and things you should consider before investing in creating a funnel.

So what exactly is a marketing funnel? A funnel is a 3 stage process that takes strangers through the sales process of getting their attention and awareness and moving them down to ultimately turn them into customers. The three stages are awareness, evaluation, and conversion. Awareness is the first stage is your first impression to potential clients essentially getting a foot in the door for them to get to know you and your brand. Evaluation is the second stage where the potential clients now know who you are and what you offer. This is when potential clients will start weighing out if you are a good fit for them. The third and final stage is conversion where the potential client now becomes a real client and has purchased a product or service from you.

Now that you know what a funnel is and how a funnel works there are a few key things to consider before creating your funnel.

First, your basic foundation you need for your funnel is who do you want as a client? Create a perfect client you want to target and serve.

What are your ultimate goals?

What do you want to sell to clients?

Start with the lowest hanging fruit. Target clients that are actively looking for the service or product you are offering.

Remember you can create funnels as long or short as you want, whatever works for your practice and what you are wanting to accomplish in your goals

In today’s episode, I am joined by special guest Michael Shirley! We talk about how to use Facebook groups to create client retention and successfully to grow your veterinary practice. We go over how to use groups, blog content in groups, video content in groups, and how to get content to translate into getting clients through the door.

Michael Shirley had a dream as a young child of becoming a veterinarian He went to school where he met his wife who is a veterinarian and he became an animal scientist. After working at a veterinary office, as an animal control specialist, and a 4H agent he was called to be a teacher. He now works with his wife at their veterinary hospital they own as a practice manager.

Michael created a Facebook group exclusively for clients of their practice to join and get updated information on the veterinary practice. It's also a great way they've been able to create a community with the clients in their group allowing other clients to gain information for pet care from each other.

As a benefit to their clients in the group, they provide the members with exclusive content that is available to the first making their clients feel special and important.

Some good rules he recommends to have in your group are:

Being very clear that the group is not meant to replace vet visits. Asking for advice is always welcomed but if it's serious or needs to be addressed refer clients to make a call to the practice to schedule an appointment.

Encourage educational discussions with members.

Build a community page to reach and engage with new clients.

Build Relationships with your superfan clients.

Create content that you see are topics that are regularly discussed.

In today’s episode, I go over the importance of tracking your veterinary practice's analytics. I cover what you should be tracking, how you should be tracking it, how often you should be checking your analytics, and how they are going to help you grow your business.

While analytics can be viewed as time consuming and confusing its important to keep track of how your offer, ads, content, and emails are being tracked and if they are being tracked properly. Understanding where you stand in your marketing (if things are working or not) is one of the most important things you need to know. You need to know the basics of what's happening now to plan what your next step will be.

The analytics you should be tracking is dependent on what you want to achieve through your content, ads, offers, and emails. Starting with Google Analytics- Setting up a Google Analytics dashboard, adding Google Analytics to your website, and using UTM tagging for URLs. Once you have these 3 things set up you will want to go to your Google Analytics to make sure it's working. since google analytics ties into your website there are a few important KPIs to be tracking

Total Visits- Number of people who visit your site

Percentage of New Visit- New people who come to your site

Traffic By Channel-Breaks down which channel visitors came from

Time on Site- How long people are on your site, the longer they spend on your site the more they are inclined to become clients

Bounce Rate- How many people visited your site and left immediately

With social media, you will want to know your typical reach and engagement on each post to get a gauge of how well you are doing. You will also want to track your engagement KPIs. Paid traffic, you will want to look to CPC and cost per conversions KPIs. And lastly, with email marketing, you will want to track your open rate, click-through rate, and take rate of offer.

In today's episode, I cover some new and exciting updates that are coming to YouTube, Google Ads, Google My Business, and social platforms that you can use to help your practice's digital marketing.

Starting with YouTube, Google now offers a youtube form ad that lets you customize what your clients can request from you. I always like to say that veterinary practices should be running ads on Youtube. YouTube is a great place to run ads for your practice as it gives potential clients the opportunity the ability to see your practice and get an idea of what to expect when they come to your practice. It's also one of the less used ad platforms making the competition very light.

Google My Business- Now makes it easier to make adjustments to your hours and modified services. You can let clients know your new temporary hours, curbside services, or even temporary closures.

Social Networks-With social networks changing so frequently (Tik Tok may be banned in the US in the coming months, constant changes to algorithms on both Instagram and Facebook ) it is important to remember that social media is just a rental space for traffic. Make sure you are collecting emails and phone numbers from clients to create your own lists for email and text message marketing.

Google Ads Call ads-Google has now changed its format for Call Ads. A few things to make sure you have in place before running these ads. 1) make sure you have your keywords very locked down to avoid getting junk calls and attracting the wrong kind of clients. 2) Only have your ads running when you are open to taking calls. 3) and lastly provide your front desk with scripts they can refer to help get your potential clients in your practice.

In today's episode, I talk about the importance of using digital marketing in your veterinary practice even when you're super busy. Now you may be asking why do should I be marketing while I'm so busy? While you may be busy now, with everything changing so frequently you could find your self in a slow season all of a sudden. When you have marketing already set in place during busy seasons it makes the slow seasons rebound faster. You also have control of your marketing to turn on certain funnels and shut off others whenever you need to.

A few things you can do while your super busy to keep your marketing running.

1) Make sure you have and are using email marketing in your practice to target both current and new clients.

2)Whenever possible keep your content creation going, for example, having a camera ready to go to capture behind the scenes of your practice to turn into social posts.

3) Create blog posts from transcribed consults. This can help your clients find answers they are looking for from you in an easy to access way as opposed to calling and taking valuable time.

4)Find ways you can take your popular content and repurpose it on other platforms and even different forms of media such as taking a video and turning that content and turning it into a blog post.

5) Making small steps in your marketing while your busy can grow into big progress that is beneficial while you hit a slow patch.

6)Using paid ads as a form of insurance for your veterinary practice's marketing.

and lastly 7) Create evergreen content that you can use for years to come.

In today's episode, I go into the psychology around pricing for products, services, and offers. I share tips, tricks, and strategies you can use in your offers and ads to increase conversions at your veterinary practice.

Now pricing and money can sometimes be a touchy subject to many people but typically in vet practices, the words sales or selling are seen as a negative.

Price is a perception- Everyone has their own thought of what is expensive or cheap and even what is worth their money.

Really emphasize the inherent cost of what it takes for the specific product, service, or offer. This will help clients better perceive the benefits and actually know what the service includes.

Give reasoning for discounting. Like special awareness months.

Use feelings to determine pricing when attracting emotional-based decisions for services. Even numbers tend to just feel right in an emotional way of thinking. When attracting rationally based decision services using a specific number that isn't an even amount feels thought out.

Take larger items and break it down into smaller pieces. For example, you could have a bulk way to buy chew treat, smaller portioned sized bags, or individually sold pieces.

Use specific numbers in promotions, like anniversary dates or birthdays.

Break costs down into a daily cost. This can be applied to a membership or wellness program. While they will pay an annual payment they can see how much it comes down to on a low daily cost.

Format costs in a way it looks cheaper like $0.99 vs $1.00

Choose prices that are easier and shorter to say.

Show prices in a smaller yet still readable font.

Remove commas from larger prices.

and sort prices from high to low on your website.

Today's podcast is very exciting as its the 200th episode! Over the last 200 episodes, its been so incredible to be able to connect and help so many people and veterinary practices with their digital marketing.

In today's episode, I share what the future of the veterinary marketing podcast is going to look like and what you can look forward to here. I also talk about the 3 things you can do right now in your practice to grow even in uncertain times like these.

I first want to start off saying a huge thank you to my listeners and the support they have given me over the last few years it means so much to me. Going forward with the podcast I want to continue to produce episodes that are valuable resources to veterinary practices. I want to be able to help practices continue to grow and double their practices through their marketing. As this podcast continues to grow I will still be covering marketing strategies and principles. Help with sales processes whether through online, phone or in person. Let you know what specific tools and Softwares are the best for marketing. And introduce case studies with special guests to really learn even more about what works in veterinary digital marketing.

Now here are 3 tips you can use now to grow your marketing and practice during uncertain times

1) Share your insight through your content

Instead of sharing articles that only share information give your audience insight into what exactly this information you are giving them means for them or what they can take away from it.

2) Create more specific content

Targeting specific audiences to speak to through your content will give them the information they actually want and need instead of just generally speaking to a wide variety of people.

3)Create consistent ways to drive clients in

Every practice needs to be running ads and paid traffic, think of paid ads as a cheap insurance policy, and how they can keep you going even when a slow time hits.

With more veterinarians transitioning to more digital marketing in their practices and as funnel building becomes more popular in veterinary marketing. It's important to make sure they are effectively built out.

In Today's episode, I share how you can build funnels out in a simple and useful way for your veterinary practices digital marketing. A marketing funnel is a direct path you are taking potential clients through a journey and turning them into a client. Having developed steps to have a group of people who are typically microtargeted becoming aware of you and your practice at the beginning and becoming further segmented through the funnel and ultimately driving them to the bottom and coming out customers.

Consider for Vet practices you will need to have two types of funnels in place to drive new clients into your practice.

1) Immediate Funnel

Your Immediate funnel is your intent based funnel. With intent based searches being your driving force. You have clients and customers that are searching for the services or products you offer. These potential clients have a want, need, or desire for what they are looking for right now. Your services, products, or practice can be the solution for what these clients are needing or wanting.

2) Long term Funnel

Your Long term funnel is an audience based funnel. In this funnel, you will target your target market and ideal client avatar. Talk to this audience as if you're talking to your favorite client or a caring loving pet owner that will do only the best for their pet. Give valuable information and quick solutions to problems that may not even be on their radar. Build trust and provide value to this audience and in turn, they will come to you for services.

In today's episode, I share how you can be creating content, offers, and doing other things to keep your practice going. As we continue going through this crazy unprecedented time its important to keep up your content and creating new ways to keep your clients coming in for the care of their pets. Luckily being an essential business means you get to stay open to provide your most needed services.

Consider teaming up with local businesses that you can integrate into your practice (ie pet sitters, dog trainers, pet stores that don't offer delivery, etc..) Think of products to provide for your client's items they will need before, during and after vet visits

One very important thing to remember is that now is the time to prepare how you will operate when all stores open as normal again. During this time you can create an opportunity and demand for specific products and services to have people come in at a later time. Create offers that will be for future needs.

Consider how you can continue to offer special means of services for the foreseeable future and even after for specific groups of people. Having telemedicine, in-home visits, and mobile services being offered right now is extremely important but even after COVID-19, it will still be beneficial to offer these services for high-risk clients of yours.

Also, keep in mind how you phrase your content copy. Think about using other words other than essential such as high risk, emergency, and urgent to describe the services you are providing at this time. Avoiding using the word essential will help in the long run to keep pet parents knowing that all parts of preventative medicine are essential to the health of their pets.

Whether you are currently using Google AdWords or thinking of using Adwords for your practice's digital marketing its always good to keep your Adwords running the absolute best they can.

In Todays Episode I share 4 tips and tactics you can use to improve your Google AdWords experience! We take a bit of a more advanced dive into Google AdWords so you can get the most of AdWords for your veterinary practices digital marketing.

1) Dayparting

Dayparting can help cut down on unnecessary expenses by only running your ads during the times your veterinary practice is actually open for business. This will help you attract new clients who are actually looking to come in now.

2)Bid Adjustments For Schedules

Make adjustments for days of the week that may be lighter on the staff available in your practice, you can adjust to what best fits for you on what days and what times.

3)Bid adjustment for location

This is great for mobile veterinary clinics, pet supplies delivery services or home visit veterinarians. You can focus on areas that are the best for your services and keep it as local as you want.  A useful tool to help you cut down on travel time as well. Use zipcodes to see where most of your clients are coming from and where you can target the best.

4)Call out and Site link Extensions

The more space you take up with your ads the better the chance you have at increasing your clicks through rates. Sitelink extensions are a great place to also update your clients of new temporary times or features. Use these as a way to highlight the specialties of your practice.

In today's episode as we continue to be in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis I share how to sell while increasing your top of funnel awareness and increase demand for your products or services without coming off as your selling in your practice. Now is the perfect time to start focusing on social selling, with more people on the internet at one time ever in history you have more people looking for information.

As we talked about in the last episode it is important now than ever to have your most urgent services laid out for clients that need to come into your practice. Given the current climate of the country, people are inclined to save money and only spend on absolute essentials but are looking to gather and receive as much information as the can.

We now need to take this time as an opportunity to increase the amount of content you are creating that your clients want to see and learn from. Clients may not be up to buying right now but you can use your content to send messages to your audience. As you are taking into consideration that your clients may not be in a mindset to buy if it's not a necessity remember to target the urgent services you offer and build awareness of your practice and your content. Using your content to educate your audience will be the best way to social sell to your clients. The more information and solutions they are provided with at this time will help them in the recovery stage turn to you and your practice. Have a few topics (about 4-5) you create content around to really really go in-depth with information.

As the world currently deals with the coronavirus pandemic ( Officially named COVID-19) many veterinary practices are posed with the same question. How do I keep my practice busy?

2)Giving people the tools they need to be proactive.

3)Make it feel less scary for your clients.

Offer services to help ease fears such as parking lot check-ins to limit the amount of exposure in your practice.

4) Here's what we are doing.

Like many other companies at the moment. Address what your practice is doing to keep them safe during this time. Laying out that your practice cares and are taking the necessary measures for the safety of all clients and team members.

In today's episode, I share if I owned a veterinary practice how and what I would do to drive clients into your practice with marketing.

1) Starting with the most important part of digital marketing you want to make sure that you have a solid website in place before starting to market your veterinary practice. Your website is where you will direct your target clients with every offer. Having a good or solid website you should have:

-Quick Page load times

-Contact info (phone number, address, hours) that can be easily found on every page

-List of services

-Properly optimized for phone, desktop, tablet.

-Must be easy to navigate. Having an easy to navigate website boosts conversion rate

2) Be sure when using social media platforms to be consistent with branding and information for your practice.

3) Make sure your staff is properly trained to close a "sale" when speaking with clients on the phone. Knowing how to speak with potential clients and being aware of the offers that are currently running. Creating basic scripts to use can ease the process of making appointments with new clients and answering commonly asked questions on the phone.

4) Define what core offers you will run. A good number of offers to have is 3 main offers and 2 specialty offers that you can rotate through the year. Make sure your offers also have their target defined, what problem does the client have, and how can you solve it.

5)Run paid ads on Google ads, Facebook, and Youtube

6)Create a 4-month content calendar. Break it down week by week to create content specific to your target audience

7)Build out Email sequences and automate them.

In today's episode I talk about Facebook groups! Facebook groups are a great tool to use in your marketing if you are looking to grow your audiences and attract engagement with your clients. I cover if a Facebook group a good idea for your practice, how to use them, how they can build an email list, and how to build pixel audiences.

So what exactly is a Facebook group?

A Facebook group is a micro community in facebook that people join to discuss a specific topic.

The great thing about groups is there are groups for every type of topic and can be as specific as you want them to be (ie breed specific groups, location,etc..). Meaning you can create the perfect group for your practice that your perfect audience will want to be a part of. Creating your group around your target audience is a great way to engage with clients by providing them a space in a community that is just for them and what they care about. Knowing what your audience cares about or concerns them is a way to know what exactly they will be discussing in your group.

When first creating your group you'll want to make sure you have these 4 steps done

1)A name for your group

2)A description of what your group is about and who its for

3)Rules. let your members know what is and isn't allowed in the group.

4)(For Closed Groups) Ask Relevant questions to join the group. For one of your 3 questions, you can use it as an opportunity to ask for emails for your email lists.

Having a closed group will help keep spammers out.

Now that your group is created you can now start engaging wit your members by interacting with their post and asking questions to other members.

Discounting can be a tricky slippery slope to go down sometimes, but you can keep your practice from falling into the discounting trap with a few tactical tips.

In today's episode, I share 5 simple and tactical tricks and tips you can use to use discounting in your practice without going bankrupt. Everyone in the world loves to feel as though they are getting a great deal or value for what they are paying. Understanding the demographic you serve at your practice and the clients you see helps you be able to gauge what kind of discounts will work for your practice. As well as taking into account that the cost of a service and the value are 2 different things and should be handled as so. I have 5 specific ways you can discount without it hurting your business or constantly having to have discounts available.

1) Rewarding Loyal Customers- Rewarding your most loyal customers with special offers that are only available for a specific group not only helps make the client feel special but also helps you bring in a client more frequently

2)Bulk Buy- As Costco has taught us the more you buy the more you save, you too can use this method for families that have a large number of pets, buying specialty pet food, and medication.

3) Test out new services- Host a trial run of a new service at a discounted rate

4)Tell a story- Use fun holidays and special awareness months to run offers for a short limited time (a month or one day only)

5)Pre Pay for services- Customers can prepay for procedures, exams, and vaccines to save in the long run.
