We’re lifelong friends talking about momming and marriage by bringing you along with us on our adventures in life. Even though they've been friends for 20 years, they have different perspectives on a lot of different things. Allie is a mom to a toddler boy and she has an opinion about just about anything. She has no fear of talking about the things that most people might shy away from because it might make them uncomfortable. Nicole is a mom of two girls, one with a physical disability and another with a lot of allergies. Even though life hasn't always been easy, it gives her a unique perspective on momming and marriage. On this podcast you'll hear about it all: from dirty diapers to pelvic floor physical therapy to who cleans the toilets, us or our husbands? We are excited you decided to listen to, Good Grief, Momma! Also, follow along with us also on Instagram @allieaemmons and @Nicole_sinders_n4

In today's episode, Allie talks about the reality that most of us view birth as a medical event/problem. We have gone from viewing issues with birth as an exception and see it more like the norm. In preparation for next week’s interview with a mom who has had 3 free births and 1 in a birth in a birth center, Allie talks about cascade of interventions, fear surrounding birth, due date obsessions, and more.

In today's episode, Allie talks about the pressure to make summer magical for our kids. Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest are full of “100 things to do this summer” and “Summer Bucket List” ideas, but what do our kids actually remember? Why do we feel the need to cram our children’s “memories” into 3 months during the summer rather than spread out throughout the whole year? Allie talks about it all, make sure you don’t miss it!

The focus is on how your house makes your family and others feel when they walk in.

Allie continues the granny ways series and talks about the fulfillment she has found in making food from scratch, gardening, and canning. Not only are there cleaner ingredients when you make it from home, but it just tastes better. She talks about how you get reconnected with the food and where it comes from when you make things from scratch or grow them in your own garden. Today’s episode is a fun and honest one - I’m sitting down with my husband to talk about the “crunchy” shifts we’ve been making in our home.
From food choices to products we use to the way we approach everyday life, you’ve heard a lot of my perspective…but today, you get his.
We talk about what he actually thinks, what’s been easy, what’s been hard, and where we don’t always see eye to eye. There are some laughs, some honest moments, and a few things I didn’t expect.
If you and your spouse aren’t always on the same page when it comes to lifestyle changes, this one’s for you!

We interact with some many people on a daily basis. We see cashiers, grocery workers, coaches, teachers, friends, family and even just people crossing the street at the same times as us. For our second week of how women can change the world, we talk about kindness. We talk about the importance of caring for the people in our lives even if they are on the fringes of it. They could also be people we care a great deal about, but they live far away and we do not always know how to support them. Listen and help us try and change the world by adding a little bit more sunshine to the world.

Life can get busy and crazy so fast. Allie and Nicole were talking the other day about how they miss the “good old days” back in the 90s. We thought why not bring some of that back for our kids. In this episode we talk about how we want to bring back the best of the 90s for our kids.

Mom guilt is something that follows us around from the moment you get pregnant, “I do not think I ate healthy enough today”, and sticks with us forever, “Why did I yell so much today”. We always want to encourage women to be the best moms that they can be but we also want to shift from mom guilt to mom grace. Motherhood is hard and sometimes we are our own hardest critics. How do we show faith to our kids? Do we take an approach more akin to the person standing on the corner of the street, holding up a sign, and telling people that walk/drive by that they need to repent or they will go to hell? OR do we take an approach that just lets our kids figure it out themselves. OR do we set an example in our daily lives that we hope plants seeds in their hearts? Our episode this week is about how we are raising our kids in faith without forcing it.

How do you identify? Christian? Mom? Sports Teams? State Pride? School Pride? Politics?
When our identity is in unstable things it can be very tumultuous. People getting depressed when their team loses. Or getting into states of anxiety when their political candidate doesn’t win. Fear takes over and we forget who we are. In this episode we talk about the unstable things to have your identity in and, for us, the one stable identity we have found.
