When transformation occurs in our lives, in whatever form it happens, we are changed in a way that leaves us different from the way we were before. We are not the same. Other people often do not understand it. Some people may question it, criticize it, discourage it. But it is not their change, it belongs to us and we must walk in that transformation because we know what triggered it.

My transformation came the day I gave my life to Jesus Christ and He accepted it. That happened in November and I've not been the same since. Thanks be to Jesus, I now walk with Him daily, listening for His direction of my life. At times I don't understand it. At times I don't always obey. But ultimately, He is who I've chosen to follow for the rest of the days of my life and so I will obey His commands and direction because coming to know Him as my personal Lord and Savior has transformed my life.

Therefore, since He told me it was time to stop my podcast, I have obey. I didn't at first (and had to ask for His forgiveness), but I am now. Hence the episode title, Closing Out Candid Corporate Conversations.

I know it is a shock. It was to me too, but listen in to hear the whole story and see what may be next.

Thank you for all your support of this podcast. Thank you for sharing it, listening, providing feedback, and participating with it. I've truly enjoyed the ride.

In the episode, I commit to sharing two powerful videos I ask that you watch and open your hearts to hear. They are below. Be blessed in Jesus name.

Did you know that your thoroughness in explaining things as a woman can make you seem incompetent? Did you know that showing anger, not just crying, makes you seem more emotional and less competent to some in the workplace? Were you aware of these subtle biases you are probably working against in your workspace?

These, and 11 other actions, that BOTH men and women partake in at work, often work in favor or men and against women. If you don't know what they are, you'll want to listen to today's episode.

The biggest challenge we face as women is that we don't know the full complexity and all the aspects of the problem fueling our inequity in the workplace, which means we can not begin to formulate a strong, strategic, effective solution to fix the issue.

G.K Chesterton said, “It isn’t that they cannot find the solution. It is that they cannot see the problem.”

Here, we identify 13 parts of the problem women face in leveling the playing field in the working world. Do you know all 13? Listen in to find out.

There is one common trait that everyone has that can ruin effective leadership for anyone. Do you have it?

It often shows up in ways and actions we do not even realize, but others see it and it can derail the mission, goal, and objectives we are trying to accomplish. It can decimate relationships, which we all know relationships are the fabric of leadership, without us even at times being aware it is happening. It is a trait that is deceptive in even identifying if we have it within ourselves because it can at times masquerade as assertiveness, being direct, having high standards, and expecting the best from people and ourselves and accepting nothing less.

So the question is, can you name that trait, and do you have it?

Have you ever been standing in a group of men and women, a man walks up to join the group, and he shakes the men's hands in the groups but nods to the women? Have you ever wondered why this happened, or have you chalked it up to "that's just what men do"?

This seems odd to me. I think it should to you as well. Have you ever wondered if or how that small action is perceived by those giving the handshake, those receiving it, and those not receiving it? Does the gift of the handshake convey a different message or perception to and about men versus the absence of that same handshake convey a message about women?

In business, it is imperative that we, to our best abilities, influence how we are perceived. As a woman, by not receiving a handshake from a man when men receive handshakes from other men, are we allowing a negative perception to be created or enforced about us? Are you aware that this may be happening?

Listen in to find out what underlying effects this seemingly normal male interaction may be having on your perception as a woman in the workplace. If you haven't considered this before, today is the day to do so.

Do you feel like you are "stuck" in your job? Do you at times feel hopeless, held hostage, or simply unhappy because of where you are in your career? Do you sometimes feel like "what is the point?"

You are not alone.

We have all felt this way, whether it was for a season, all the time, or even right now. And we've all been stumped about how to get out of that space, or even find the strength to believe we can.

If you can relate to this, then this episode is for you. What has been discovered through research with women is that there are some very specific beliefs , ideas, and realities that we buy into or perpetuate that we don't even realize and they are keeping us stuck in the place of shame, mediocre success (however YOU define that, not others), and/or stress, stress, and more stress.

So how do we fix it? First, we have to identify and become aware of what we're doing, then we formulate a plan for change. Here, we discuss the first part - identifying what we're doing that we must stop and change. That is the first step toward the change you inwardly, deeply desire - whether you can admit it or not.

How is it possible that more women in corporate America have at least a bachelor's degree than men but we are still paid, on average, $16,000 - $20,000 less than men in the same industries and fields? This is the wrong question to ask since these is current reality. The question now to ask: How do we close that gap?

In 2019, women surpassed men in having more bachelor's degrees, or higher, in the workplace. But in order for us to surpass men in pay, we have to change how we approach education and get education - preferably without adding any additional debt to our lives. (No more student loans!)

If you want to know how to leverage education in a different way to increase your promotability and resume to help you earn more and grow more, listen in. We talk about three very specific actions you can take to capitalize on the benefits more education can give you in the workplace without breaking the bank or your calendar.

How often have you said or heard it said that Millennials are so entitled? How often was that statement accompanied by annoyance, or maybe even disgust? While it is not true of all Millennials, it is a trait that has been attributed to the generation, and you may need to take note actually. Why? Because as a non-Millennial woman, if you don't have a sense of entitlement in the workplace, you may be doing a disservice to your own success.

Come to find out, Millennials are not the only people in the workplace who feel entitled. Guess who else does? Men. And it gives them an edge that women don't have, which is causing women to be promoted less, mentored less, and paid less. Women are sitting on the "humble" sidelines while men, and some Millennials, are in the game, scoring big because they feel they deserve it. That needs to include you.

Find out why you too need to adopt an entitlement attitude, at least at work. And once you know why you need it, I trust you'll know how to balance it with the nurturing and understanding parts of your nature that are what make you a great colleague and leader. Just know that adding the belief of "entitlement" to your repertoire is a tool you must have in your corporate toolbox. In order for women to get on the same playing field, everyone has to know about and be using the same tools. This episode talks about one you desperately and immediately need to add to your box.

Have you ever wondered why there is a pay gap in the wages between men and women? There are a number of reasons for it, but have you ever considered the part you, as a woman, play in creating that pay gap?

Women contribute to the pay gap in a way that is not typically obvious but is no less just as detrimental to the problem as unfair wage practices, biased hiring managers, etc. So we have to identify how we are contributing to the problem, the impact it is having, and know the solution to this problem. We discuss all of that in this episode, giving you immediately actionable insights into how to stop losing money everyday at work and how to prevent it from happening in the future.

Did you know that women are called for interviews at a rate of 30% less often than men? This disparity impacts women's opportunities to get jobs that could result in higher pay, moving up the ladder to higher levels of management, and diversifying into other industries. It is one of the unlevel playing fields women face in the corporate world. We talk about steps to overcome this disparity in a way that you may not initially consider, but that works.

Women are more educated, almost equally as present, and invaluable contributors to Corporate America, yet still struggle against perceptions and stigmas that accompany being female in the working world. We discuss how these perceptions:

  • Affect your pay and wages
  • Affect your ability and likelihood to be hired for a job
  • Affect your potential for promotion
  • And more...

We also talk about how biases and stigmas don't just come from our male counterparts, but other women as well.

Then we talk about how to change that, today.
