I used to ruin my vacations. Sure, on the outside, I was on vacation & everything was great, but on the inside, I was obsessing over food 24/7 and stressing about when I'd be able to workout to "make up" for all of the enjoying I was doing. I wasn't present when I could have been making memories with loved ones, because my body image had a chokehold on me. Being on vacation this last week was such a nice reminder  of how far I've come, so I wanted to do a little reflecting with you all this week on where I've been & the road I've taken to get better.

On this week's episode, I unfortunately have to talk about what's going on in our country. I would love to be an escape for you all, but I wouldn't feel right about not addressing the major injustice happening in our country and the major pain and suffering of women that is already RAGING across the country. I hope that this episode makes you feel less hopeless & more validated in all of your feelings. I also talk about maintaining a more damp lifestyle, some body image wins, how working on your body image is MAJORLY feminist, and how we should believe in ourselves enough to take big risks.

Today on the podcast, I wanted to talk about what's really been on my mind. Truly, since the draft opinion of overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked, I have had a pit in my stomach that I just can't shake. So, I wanted to do a little bit of my own research to better understand not only the history of Roe v. Wade, but also the reasoning behind this opinion, what it ACTUALLY could mean for us even beyond abortion rights, and what we can actually do to take action.

Now, as I say a million times in the episode, I am NO expert, but I wanted to take you along on this educational journey of mine.

This week's podcast goes SO many places. Where do I start?

  • Why IG has been giving me the ick lately & I'd rather be on Tik Tok where it's less about perfection and the highlight reel, and you can be more yourself. Anyone else?
  • MY WEDDING STORY! Yep, you heard it right. We got married! One month after our engagement... no I'm not pregnant! But listen to hear about why we did it and how the day went.
  • I also do a deeper dive on my own struggles with body image, body dysmorphia, and a toxic relationship with food and exercise. I share this hopefully show you that you're not alone, but also to show the REAL reason why I started my body image program.

If any of that story related to you, and you'd like to inquire about working together either for personal training or my group body image program starting in May, fill out this brief inquiry form, and I'll set up a call.

TW: fertility, infertility, miscarriages, etc.

My dear friend Janessa Grosse so graciously asked if she could share her fertility story on the podcast, and I thought it would be a great way for other women to not feel so alone in their own journeys surrounding starting a family (or not!). She shares her story, and we discuss how going through something like this affects your mental health, body image, and relationships. Thank you to all of the listeners that shared some perspectives & their own stories. While this episode is beautifully raw, I recognize that is also a very sensitive subject.

We hit November and BAM we're already hit with all the super intense, "Are you going to wait to the new year to change your life?! Get ahead of everyone else!" messaging. But that doesn't really help you, does it? It probably just makes you feel motivated for a second, then guilty if you don't end up taking action or sticking with it. That's not your fault. Those messages are pretty empty & don't give you much to work with. So I'm hopping on to give you some helpful tips on how you can start to think about some goals or resolutions for next year & small actions you can start with now to set yourself up for success in the new year.

TW: body image, disordered eating & exercise

This week I open up all about my personal journey with body image- the good, the bad, and the ugly. While I dig deep & get a little raw with you all, I hope that it helps you feel less alone in any of the negative thoughts you've ever had about your own body, battles you've ever had with food, and of course poor relationships you've ever had with exercise. This is not meant to be sad or to receive pity, rather to serve as a way to connect & let you know, you are not alone! After I share my own story about my low self worth, disordered eating, and exercise obsession, I also share things that helped me start my own healing journey. I hope this helps! Oh, and you're perfect exactly as you are.
