The Jews, under Zerrubbael, Ezra, and Nehemiah have completed the task of restoring the Temple and the Wall of Jerusalem. However, the spiritual restoration of Israel still had some work to do.
Nehemiah gives us some strong leadership principles, and shows us how to overcome the world’s opposition to the Lord’s work.
The completion of the Temple brings great joy but the work is not done. The time has come to take their eyes off of reliance on the king of Persia and fully place it on the King of Kings.
The story of Esther is the basis of the Feast of Purim, celebrated by the Jews even today. Her boldness saves the Jews from extinction, but also seems to have had ripples that impacted the restoration of Jerusalem.
