Mary welcomes new guest Stephanie Potts to the podcast. She worked with the federal government as an intelligence analyst for 15 years and now works with Midwest Christian Outreach. While that might sound dramatic, it is absolutely what is and always was behind the door of the emergent church/emergence theology that dared to attempt to do plastic surgery on the bride of Christ by denying the need for the atonement, rethinking the gospel, and placing all power and authority for the end game of earth on man. Even though the Bible teaches something apocalyptically different, the doesn’t stop man from thinking that sin is merely all the ways society has let us down. How can Christians better respond to the left on this? Perhaps making fun of the No Kings approach isn’t the most helpful and yet it’s hard not to take that route. Mary welcomes back Israel expert Jim Fletcher to help us both celebrate and articulate what it means that this regathered nation is 77 years old this week. Today we talk about some significant prophecies in Ezekiel and Amos, and the absolute promises of God to regather and redeem Israel. For what purpose? Not only for His good pleasure, that His people are the apple of His eye, but for the reasons stated in Ezekiel 37: “That they may know….” There are 58 such mentions from Ezekiel 34-39 alone. It’s for HIS Name’s sake. Then we look at the Cyrus Cylinder and archaeology as apologetic. Who wrote Isaiah? If you have to ask, we will give an answer. Finally, we answer the the question, “What is Israel?” If churches won’t teach prophecy because of a few who mishandle it, they could at least teach God’s plan for Israel of the ages, which should build our faith. As Psalm 102:16 tells us, “For the Lord shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory.” Now THAT’s glorious. Jim’s Israel blog is called “The God That Answers“.

From Amsterdam to Belgium, from sea to shining sea in the US, here we go again. And we will speak up about it and we will defend Israel with all we have because it represents the heart of God. And yet “evangelical” churches choose the wrong side in so many churches. Then we look at speaking up about bible prophecy, a great evangelical tool that again, many churches refuse to teach or speak up about. Afraid to mention the rapture? You are not alone because more than ever, you will get an eye-roll followed by a denunciation of some historical sort. And the pulpits are silent on yet again another thing. Headlines and more on today’s Stand Up for the Truth, speaking the truth about as many things as we can, of import to the church.

We also look at a recent statement by the National Evangelical Association supporting the LGBTQ movement in its special rights under the guise of “equality.”
In our first segment, we talk with Art Ally of The Timothy Plan to discuss biblical generosity and how the money Christians invest in corporations and stocks is being used to either glorify God or support those who oppose biblical Christian values.

As reported by World magazine, “(CCCU and NAE) have formally endorsed principles that would add sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) to federal nondiscrimination law.” The U.S. Pastor Council, a growing inter-racial, inter-denominational network of local Pastor Councils that was founded and grew from the flagship Houston Area Pastor Council (the team that led the defeat of lesbian former Mayor Annise Parker’s pro-LGBTQ “Equal Rights Ordinance” in 2015) is calling out the NAE and CCCU for this indefensible act of yielding moral truth for perceived temporary protections.

In yet another violation of biblical principles, the progressive United Methodist Church (UMC) voted to make “Reverend” Cedrick Bridgeforth, an openly gay man, bishop at their official meeting last week. Of course, they did. But if church rules and Bible doctrines no longer matter, why have them?
Sadly, more churches seem to be minimizing or reinterpreting Scripture. These deceivers often emphasize (code words alert!) diversity, equity, inclusion, tolerance, and strive to be ‘welcoming.’ It’s true Jesus welcomed sinners, but He also told them to repent, obey His commandments, and to go and sin no more!
After being elected, Bridgeforth told those gathered at the Western Jurisdiction meeting that he was “grateful to God Almighty” and “to my husband, Christopher.” But wait a minute. The UMC Book of Discipline forbids ordaining ‘practicing homosexuals.’ But rules are meant to be broken, right? Not if Jesus is your final authority. He is the One who created mankind and all things. He ordained and defined (natural) marriage between one man and one woman (Mark 10:6-10).
The Book of Jude appeals to Christians to stand and fight against attacks on the faith. See if you notice any similarities to today’s church as Jude warned first century Christians saying:
For certain people have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into indecent behavior and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Jude 1:4
Deception, godlessness, and false teachers are nothing new.
Don’t miss the fact that a man in an open same-sex “marriage” was still elected to the office of bishop in the Methodist Church. Bridgeforth plans to “chart new ground.” He served as the California-Pacific Conference’s director of innovation and communication and received 73 votes out of 93 ballots cast. For those keeping score, that’s a majority.
It’s important to note that during the last decade, the splintered Methodist denomination finally split. Biblical Christians were tired of compromise, LGBTQ policies, women pastors, political correctness, and division over abortion and marriage. So after years of debate over holding the biblical line or accommodating sin, conservatives officially parted ways with the UMC and launched its Global Methodist Church.
Former UMC General Conference delegate, John Lomperis of the Institute on Religion & Democracy, said Bridgeforth’s promotion exhibits “further direct defiance of the UMC’s official rules, which is increasingly becoming normalized.” He adds:
“Bishops are entrusted with the sacred responsibility of upholding and enforcing our church’s doctrinal and moral standards. When the bishops are so openly breaking these standards, then this is a true ‘inmates running the asylum’ situation,”
According to the Christian Post, Loperis remarked about a female bishop also elected by the UMC, that she even refused to say if she believes in the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ. Apparently [she] does not believe in “basic biblical doctrine about His incarnation.” This is stunning.
Plenty of people mention God or even claim to believe in Him, but does your faith translate over into your life? Where’s the fruit? Do you obey the commandments? Anyone can say they are Christian and millions do, but it’s apparent they do not really follow Jesus and live out their faith according to the Bible. They are man-pleasers rather than God-pleasers (Gal. 1:10).
I think we know the sobering answers to these questions. It is reflected in the moral rot and decay of culture and the infestation of social justice and liberal ideologies into American churches.
It’s important to understand the historical decline. In 2016, the United Methodist Church (Western Jurisdiction) appointed the first openly lesbian bishop, and the election was unanimous! Karen Oliveto’s ordination was later deemed invalid by the Church’s Judicial Council a year later, but that didn’t matter; she remains in her position to this day.
The day before the 2016 UMC convention in Oregon, the “Reverend” Laura Young, a 48-year-old Methodist pastor in Ohio joined over a hundred United Methodist Church clergy members who came out as gay, lesbian or bisexual. Young stated at the time:
“I feel lighter already. I can be a better pastor and a better person when I can be my full self, living in the light and with integrity.”
In 2019, the UMC voted – by a slim margin – to uphold the church’s bans on ordaining LGBTQ clergy and performing same-sex weddings. However, that vote was disregarded by many progressive leaders within the UMC who rebelled and continued to commission openly gay clergy as well as officiate same-sex weddings.
The Bible warns us not to align with them and also says God will not be mocked. He never changes and neither does His Word which teaches you will reap what you sow, either sin and corruption or righteousness and everlasting life (Isaiah 40:8, Gal. 6:7-8).
Churches have been divided on politics for over a century, but the greater issue is division over clear, biblical, foundational doctrines and teachings. By the way, the (formerly) United Methodist Church is the third-largest Protestant denomination in the USA. Don’t think this couldn’t happen at your church.
The Apostle Paul said the Holy Spirit lives in believers and we are temples of the living God. He writes:
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? …Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” 2 Corinthians 6:14, 17
How about you or your church? Do you have a decision to make?
For those in seeker-sensitive “churches” who no longer adhere to or believe what the Bible teaches, it doesn’t matter what they say. Christ the King will return as promised, sin will be judged, and righteousness, holiness, grace and truth will prevail.

Paul says in Romans 8:37 that we are more than conquerors through Jesus, but we seem to be raising the white flag of spiritual and cultural surrender. Could that be because we are conforming to this world and changing the eternal message of the gospel to fit our human understanding and prejudices?

Islam is a false religion of very strict laws and teachings. Adulterers and homosexuals are punished severely and women are treated as second class citizens or at times, treated as property. This directly contradicts the laws of our nation and is completely incompatible with the platform of the Democrat Party that celebrates homosexuality and transgenderism and touts radical feminism. Anyone can say they're a Christian. If you ask most Americans, including our politicians, they will probably say they "believe" in Jesus. But if we don't take the time to ask them exactly what they think about Jesus or who they believe He is, we can't possibly know for certain if they are converts or counterfeits. Progressive "Christians" claim they are doing the work Jesus commanded us to do. The only problem is they are teaching and promoting the exact opposite of what Jesus taught, especially on major biblical issues. When we assume a person is a Christian just because they say so, we are easily deceived.Speaking of assumptions, we welcome a new guest to Stand Up For the Truth, Dave Richardson. There is a growing schism going on in within Christianity in America. It has been slow and subtle, but it is reaching the point where serious disciples of Jesus Christ are starting to take notice. This schism is centered around two important points:
Is the Christian walk about salvation, or holiness?
The Church's relationship with the world.
Jesus warned that many who called Him "lord" would be condemned to eternal hell. Jesus and the Apostles warned that a great apostasy would infect the professing church in the days leading up to the Lord's return. The Bible is clear that evil would grow exponentially in the final days and that Christians are to be a unique, holy people set aside for the glory of God. This means the true Church of Jesus Christ should be increasingly contradictory to the teachings and behaviors of this wicked world. Instead, some churches are intent on looking more like the world.
Mike and Crash discuss this great schism and how Christians who are serious about pursuing holy living can determine if they are in a church that is increasingly unique, or one that is conforming to the world.

A lot of Christians read quick, daily devotionals as part of their routine. The concern is in some cases it has replaced reading and studying God’s Word in depth as we become busier and busier and are looking for that “quick fix” instead of a deep, intensive Bible study.
That is certainly not to say that all devotional studies are bad or wrong; but a devotional written by man will often have the slant or perspective of the writer and may or may not accurately reflect God’s message or context on the subject. The best devotional study we can do is one directly from the Bible itself since it is inspired by God and eternal truth.

Willow Creek's Global Leadership Summit keeps bringing in speakers who defy God's Word and Law, elevating them (secular progressives) as leaders that Christians should emulate. And now, the National Association of Evangelicals invites House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to speak to Christian College professors about the need for Evangelicals to support her fight against legal immigration policies and common sense.
This is the same Nancy Pelosi who at every opportunity supports legislation leading to more abortions, and a professing Catholic that is allowed to remain a Catholic in good standing in spite of her support of infanticide. Has the leadership of American Christianity completely sold the "church" out by compromising with and embracing an anti-biblical world view?
