Happy winter solstice! This is probably one of my favorite days of the year, it's the shortest day of the year if you're in the northern hemisphere, and it's the longest night of the year. I love this day because there are so many beautiful moments of reflection. And as we're leaning into the new year, it's a great moment to pause and reflect. In this episode, I share some key insights and reflections as we look at dark moments and explore the light we want to call into our lives. I also share 3 journal prompts that may help you examine the themes of darkness and light. It's December 2023 and I want to shift our focus from the conventional hustle to finishing the year aligned with our values. Through this episode, I'll share my journey of navigating through times when I felt completely out of alignment, and the profound impact this had on my overall well-being.
We often chase goals and milestones, thinking that's what success looks like. But what if the real success lies in harmony with our values?
In this episode, I talk about the importance of recognizing when something doesn't feel right and how making conscious choices to prioritize alignment can drastically reduce stress, enhance our relationships, and lead to better decision-making.
One of the most moving moments of my life was at a retreat where I had the opportunity to identify my core values. This experience brought me to tears, as I realized these values were not something I'd previously given much importance to. Yet, they were the keys to unlocking a more authentic, fulfilling way of thinking, behaving, and being.

Over the past five weeks, my commitment to practicing yoga at least five days a week has not only sculpted my body but has also profoundly reshaped my soul.
The physical benefits, including weight loss and increased strength, have been evident. However, it's the emotional and spiritual renewal that has left an indelible mark on my life. Navigating through a tumultuous period, yoga has become my sanctuary, teaching me to find solace in discomfort. Whether I am contorting into a challenging pose or confronting the ebbs and flows of life, this practice has transformed me into a more grounded, resilient individual, less swayed by external chaos.
As I delve deeper into self-awareness, I've come to a profound realization - I am not broken. I am in a continuous state of healing. Recognizing and acknowledging the areas that need mending has been liberating. The strength I've cultivated—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—through yoga has given me the courage to sit with my most trying emotions without feeling inundated.
Opening up further, I share a recent discovery: my battle with high-functioning depression. A cloud that loomed over me for two years, making me feel detached from my essence. Yet, yoga has been that beacon, guiding me toward confronting my discomforts and seizing opportunities for growth and healing.
When faced with moments of unease, breathe through it. Trust in the process.

Are you choosing your vision and the life that you want or the goal that you want, or the experience that you desire? OR are you gonna choose to listen to the story that's telling you that you don't deserve it and that you can't have it, and that it's not available to you for whatever reason? You have a choice. If you wanna change, you have to change your story.
In this bonus episode, I share an IG Live replay that focuses on the importance of changing the stories that are holding you back.
Here are the key takeaways:
1. Identifying Stagnation Patterns: The three common ways people become stuck in life – self-neglect, self-sacrifice, and self-sabotage. Recognizing these patterns is crucial for breaking free and pursuing our true desires.
2. Power of Stories and Beliefs: Our personal stories and beliefs shape our behavior and success. Sharing their own experience, they highlight the transformative impact of rewriting a story to align with ease and flow, fostering greater fulfillment and impact.
3. Mindset's Role in Action: A shift in mindset is portrayed as a catalyst for action and goal achievement. By challenging negative beliefs, upgrading stories, and embracing a positive perspective, listeners are empowered to take charge of their narratives and pursue personal growth and success.

In this episode, I want to talk to you about something we all struggle with - self-love and self-care. It can be tough, even when we know what we should be doing. But here's the thing: it's crucial that we give ourselves permission to accept where we are in our journey. We need to get curious about why we feel the way we do. The practice of self-love, compassion, and care starts with actively tending to our needs.
We must check in with ourselves, listen to what we truly need, and then have the courage to act on it, even if it feels uncomfortable or goes against popular opinion. It's about having our own backs and showing up for ourselves every single day. Remember, you deserve love and care, so don't hesitate to give yourself what you need.
Here are 3 practices that you can start to incorporate into your day to lean into feeling and embodying more self care, love, and compassion:
Give these practices a try and feel free to connect with me for further exploration of your own self-care and compassion needs.

Do you intentionally put yourself on your To Do List? If not, chances are that you are neglecting your needs. I've seen many women struggle with making time for themselves because they fail to create the necessary conditions for it to happen.
That's why I suggest intentionally creating space in your day, every day, to tend to your own needs. By consistently dedicating time to yourself, you build a sense of safety around asking yourself what you need and then proactively tending to those needs, rather than waiting until you're burnt out or sick to react.

Recently, I was on a call with a group of women to plan an upcoming retreat that we will be co-hosting in St. Lucia in October. We got on the topic of Self Care and one woman brought up the need for "Soul Care" and my ears perked up!
What hit me was that Soul Care is really about nourishing our nervous system in order to create the conditions to be more grounded and have more balance, ease, and peace in our lives.
There is nothing wrong with traditional self-care practices, but in this episode, I encourage you to also include more Soul Care into your daily routine and I provide a few examples.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a great time to focus on self-care practices, however, I recognize that many women face real challenges in accessing the resources and support needed to prioritize their mental health. For some, it is having unrealistic expectations at work, while others have a lack of support from loved ones in their personal lives and some do not have the financial security to take time off from work to honor their mental health.
In this episode, I share some examples from my own experience and from women that I’ve worked with to highlight the challenges and offer some solutions that may be available to women who are struggling with prioritizing their self-care needs when they don’t have the support they need from loved ones and at work.

Making time in your day to put joy first can be a game-changer! I've had many conversations with people who prioritize work and responsibilities over their own joy and happiness and this can lead to burnout and stress.
Prioritizing joy has been shown to reduce cortisol levels (the hormone associated with stress), boost immunity, enhance productivity and creativity, and improve overall well-being.
In this episode, I share why and how I started to prioritize joy in my life, plus I share some tips to help you make a case for creating more space in your life for joy.
If you are struggling to prioritize joy in your life, ask yourself these 3 questions to get some clarity on how to incorporate more joy into your life:
Based on these questions, you should have a clear idea of things to do, people to spend time with, and places to go that will spark more joy in your life.

Last weekend, I had a meltdown because I realized she was neglecting my relationship with myself. I went on a drive to the beach and sat on a log watching the ocean and birds while reflecting on how important it is to pour into ourselves every day. While it may seem like we don't have the time or we convince ourselves that we will find time later, the truth of the matter is...if we don't make the time, we are sabotaging ourselves.
The best way to prioritize your relationship with yourself is to schedule solo time in your calendar as you would any other appointment or meeting because what we prioritize we make an effort to do.

In this episode of I Buy Myself Flowers, Allison Tibbs discusses how our beliefs dictate our behaviors and how those behaviors can either positively or negatively affect our physical and mental health.
She believes that it is important to be aware of the beliefs we are holding onto in order to create healthier habits and lifestyles.
As an example, she shares her own belief about taking care of herself first thing in the morning is important to give the best version of herself to others.
On the flip side, she also talks about how her past belief that she didn’t matter led her down a path of unhealthy habits that impacted her health.
Allison emphasizes the importance of understanding our values as they often determine what beliefs we have and ultimately shape our behavior.
She also announced her four week Nourished Life Blueprint coaching program, which will kick off in April and provide weekly Zoom calls, videos with topics, worksheets, and a private WhatsApp group.

Your morning routine can be the most powerful thing that you can do for yourself each and every day, especially, if you are a person who has a jam-packed schedule and rarely has time to prioritize your own needs during the day.
The only catch is...that it may require you to wake up a bit earlier (aka go to bed earlier) so you can wake up and carve out solo time for yourself before you tend to the needs of everyone else.
Here are 3 questions I would encourage you to ask yourself and think about...
After you answer these questions, do what you need to do to set yourself up for success in the mornings! I'd love to hear what your morning routine looks like! Send me a DM on IG - instagram.com/AllisonTibbs or send me an email at hello@allisontibbs.com.

So often, we focus so much on our relationships with others, that we forget to put that same energy into the relationship that we have with ourselves. We are often putting ourselves, our needs, our desires, and everything else on the back burner. It is like we give the very best to everyone else and we simply settle for crumbs.
This way of living is not only harmful to your self esteem, self worth and mental health, but it is indicative of your belief system. A deep rooted belief that you are not deserving or worthy of the same love that you give to others.
And the reality is, this is not a quick fix. I won't even try to give you a list of things to do to instantly improve your relationship with yourself. However, I will give you a list of questions to ask yourself to help you get more clarity on how you can start the process with care.

This one is for my perfectionists...
Giving yourself permission to be imperfect is one way to support your mental health and emotional health. Leaning into vulnerability and putting yourself out there without the expectation of being perfect can feel a bit scary, but it can open you up to stepping into a life that feels more authentic, joyful, and nourishing.
I share 3 things that helped me embrace imperfection. Hopefully, it will be helpful for you. I'd love to hear how you are embracing imperfection this year!
Incorporating self-love practices into your daily routine sounds like a great idea, but can also be pretty challenging because of your busy schedule or having to tend to everyone else's needs.
You may even struggle to figure out what exactly can you do to practice self-love in a way that actually works for you. (Instead of listening to the cheesy examples found on Pinterest boards or articles online.)
Self Love can feel a bit cringe...but there is a better way to make it feel more aligned and sustainable. Over the past few years, I've incorporated a practice to ask myself 3 questions to identify ways to love myself and give myself the care and attention I need.
Here is a video where I go more in-depth on the questions and how you can use them for your own self-love journey.
January is typically a time to focus on new beginnings, new hopes, and new goals for the new year. It is a time to reflect on the previous year and look at the lessons learned. So often, we look at the lessons learned from what went wrong and that can be helpful, but I also encourage you to look at the lessons learned from your big wins!
In today's episode, I wanted to share 3 lessons that I learned and plan to bring into 2023.

Welcome to I Buy Myself Flowers! I am Allison Tibbs, a healthy lifestyle coach and mental health advocate, who is ready to get real when it comes "Self-Love" and "Self-Care". For the longest, I've wanted to create a podcast to share my story and lessons learned along my journey of self-care, self-love, and mental health...BUT...I let my insecurities, fears, and limiting beliefs get in the way, so I never did anything about it.
Well that stops this year in 2023...this podcast is an act of defiance to put my fears, doubts, and insecurities in their place...all the way in the back!
My hope for this podcast is to share with you strategies, resources, and other ways to support you on your own journey through meaningful conversations and discussions. I found my greatest breakthroughs and support through conversations with my best friends, my partner, and my family and I want this to feel like you are pulling up a chair to those conversations with me.
Through vulnerability, curiosity, and empathy, we will dive deep and I am terrified and excited...so let's do this...together!
