This self is extraordinarily good at being present for other people. What it cannot do, what it has never learned to do, is allow other people to be fully present for it. Because full presence requires disclosure. And disclosure requires the belief that the real thing, unmanaged and unpolished, is worth staying for. The Relationships Mask does not carry that belief. It carries the opposite one.The Religion Mask says I am the good one. It is the self that discovered that moral performance was a form of protection. That if you could be good enough, pure enough, observant enough, you could forestall the punishment that the universe or God or the community might otherwise deliver. This self filters its own prayers. It has developed a sophisticated internal editor that evaluates every authentic impulse against the standard of what the good one would feel, and suppresses what does not pass. The tragedy of this mask is that it pursues connection with the divine through a curated self rather than a true one, and therefore never achieves the connection it is reaching for. You cannot be known through a performance. You can only be known through presence.The Resume Mask says I am what I achieve. It is the self that converted output into identity so long ago that the conversion is invisible. This self is not ambitious in the ordinary sense. It is not simply driven or hardworking or goal-oriented. It is something more existentially fraught than that. It is a self for whom productivity is not a means but a proof of existence. Stillness does not feel like rest. It feels like erasure. And the question that sits beneath every achievement, the question it runs hard enough and fast enough to never have to stop and face, is this: if I stopped producing, if I had nothing left to show, if the credentials and the accomplishments and the visible evidence of my value all disappeared, would I still be something worth accounting for.The Recreation Mask says I am fine. It is not the most dramatic of the eight, but it may be the most pervasive, because it is the most socially acceptable. This is the self that has learned to use pleasure, stimulation, and distraction as a management system. Not as enjoyment. Enjoyment is a quality of presence. What this mask practices is the opposite of presence. It is the strategic deployment of sensation to prevent the silence in which the real questions surface. The scroll, the drink, the noise, the constant low-grade entertainment, none of these are leisure. They are a nervous system running from a conversation it is not yet willing to have.The Rules Mask says I am the compliant one. It is the self for whom structure is not a tool but a lifeline. Somewhere in its history, chaos was real and close, and order was the only available antidote. What it did, brilliantly and necessarily, was build a system of rules, most of them never articulated, never agreed upon by anyone else, that it then lives inside with the conviction of someone who understands that deviation is dangerous. This self is not rigid out of stubbornness. It is rigid out of terror. The inflexibility is not a character flaw. It is a survival strategy that has become indistinguishable from character.The Responsibilities Mask says I am the dependable one. It is the self that carries everything, and has been carrying everything for so long that the weight no longer registers as weight. It registers as identity. To put something down would not feel like relief. It would feel like abandonment. This self has fused being needed with being valued, and that fusion is so complete that it cannot imagine being loved outside of its usefulness. It mistakes exhaustion for virtue. It mistakes the inability to ask for help for strength. And underneath the unflagging reliability is a question it will not ask directly: if I stopped carrying all of this, if I let other adults be responsible for their own lives, would anyone stay.The Reasons Mask says I am the logical one. This is the self that retreated into the intellect because the intellect felt safe in a way the body and the heart did not. It can explain everything. It has frameworks for its frameworks. It is often the most articulate person in any room, and the most emotionally unreachable. Not because it does not feel, but because it has learned to translate feelings into concepts before they can arrive as experience. The analysis is not insight. It is insulation. And the cost of that insulation is the kind of loneliness that is particularly acute because it coexists with constant engagement. This self is always in conversation and almost never in contact.The Roles Mask says I am the part I play. It is the self that has so thoroughly inhabited a title, a function, a social position, that the title and the self have merged. This is not mere professional investment. This is ontological displacement. The role is not something this self does. It is something this self is. And when the role is threatened, when it shifts, when it ends, as all roles eventually do, the crisis is not logistical. It is existential. Because the question on the other side of the role is not what do I do now. It is who am I now. And the Roles Mask has never prepared an answer.Underneath every one of these masks is what I call an emotional contract. It is a sentence formed in a moment of heat, before there was the maturity or the safety or the language to examine it, and it sounds like this: I will be the one who blank so I never have to feel blank again. You did not choose this contract in any meaningful sense of the word choose. It was written by a nervous system under duress, ratified by repetition, and enforced by the remarkable human capacity to mistake the familiar for the true. And no one ever came back, in the days and years after the moment of its formation, to tell you that the danger had passed. No one sat with you and said: that strategy worked, you survived, and you are no longer required to pay its terms.So you kept paying. Year after year,...
That is what everything I do is built to answer. Not in some abstract sense. For the person reading this right now who just felt something move in their chest. That is not anxiety. That is recognition. And it has been waiting for you to pay attention.
There is only one day I have ever truly lived.Not because I chose it. Not because it aligned with my desires. Not because it brought triumph or peace or even clarity.But because it was the only day that existed.And that day—this day—is always now.This is the first claim:Today is the best day of my lifenot because it is pleasurable, successful, or redemptive—but because it is real.This claim, rightly understood, is not motivational.It is ontological.It is not about gratitude, though gratitude may rise.It is not about optimism, though joy may follow.It is about the nature of being, the structure of time, and the existential permission to inhabit what is.The Ontological Priority of the PresentTime, as we experience it, is a construct of consciousness.The past no longer exists. The future has not yet come.Both live only in the mind—memory and anticipation.What remains?Only this present moment.Not the second, not the minute, but the experience of now.It is the only condition under which life occurs.Every breath I have ever taken was taken in the now.Every decision. Every failure. Every touch. Every sorrow.All of them occurred under the singular canopy of presence.This means that the present moment is not just real.It is the only reality I have.Therefore, if I wish to name the “best” day of my life,it can never be yesterday—it is gone.It can never be tomorrow—it is not yet.It can only be today, for it alone is mine.To acknowledge this is not to deny memory or future planning.It is to reorient myself to the truth that existence is always immediate.And thus—so is meaning.The Collapse of Comparison“Best” is typically a comparative term.We say “best” to imply “better than others.”But how can I compare what is with what no longer exists or does not yet exist?If I believe today is worse than yesterday, I am comparing a living reality with a memory—which means I am no longer living.If I believe tomorrow will be better than today,I place my hope in fantasy and abandon the only space that can create change.Comparison, in this way, becomes an instrument of exile.It removes me from now, and with it, from truth.So when I say:“Today is the best day of my life,”I am not comparing today with any other day.I am declaring that today is the only day.And the only day is necessarily the best.Best not by achievement.Best not by emotion.Best by virtue of existence itself.The Inclusion of SufferingThis is the most radical claim embedded in the mantra:Even on the days I suffer,even in grief, confusion, loneliness, fear—today remains the best day of my life.Why?Because it is real.And I would rather live in pain than fantasize in fiction.I would rather feel loss in the real world than experience peace in a dream.I would rather be fully present in devastation than absent in delight.To say today is the best day is not to deny pain.It is to include it.To acknowledge that pain, too, belongs.That suffering, too, is sacred—not because it is desired, but because it is true.And what is “best” if not the moment that demands nothing but our presence,asks nothing but our honesty, and offers nothing but the invitation to be here?The Rejection of ElsewhereTo declare today as best is to commit to presence.And that commitment is a death sentence for every illusion that tells us joy is elsewhere.We often live as though happiness is just over the next hill:When I get the job.When the pain stops.When the relationship heals.When I become more.But happiness built on elsewheres is not happiness.It is a mirage—ever present, never grasped.It is a psychological deferral system for joy.When I say “today is the best day of my life,” I am putting an end to the search.Not because I have found something perfect.But because I have stopped looking away from what is.The End of BecomingBecoming is the great mythology of modern life.We are told to improve, to evolve, to optimize.We are told our current state is not enough.But becoming is a race without a finish line.It implies that our worth is conditional—dependent on some future version of self that may never arrive.To say “today is the best day of my life” is to resist the myth of becoming.It is to accept, without qualification, that being is enough.That the one I am now, in this breath, without edit or upgrade,is already whole.Not static. Not stagnant.But present.And therefore, real.And therefore, worthy.The Return to BreathEvery time I feel myself slipping into memory, into fantasy, into comparison or judgment—I return to breath.I breathe into now.Not as a grounding trick but as a recognition of truth.There is no breath that can be taken in the past just as there is no breath that can be stored for tomorrow.Breath is now, or it is nothing.So I breathe and say, without needing it to feel good, without needing to believe it emotionally,simply as a claim of alignment:“Today is the best day of my life.”And when I say that, I am not offering myself a reward.I am returning to a vow.A vow to reality.A vow to truth.A vow to be nowhere else but here.The Practice of StayingTo live as if today is the best day of your life is not easy.It will cost you your illusions.It will expose your avoidance.It will confront every fantasy of someday and strip it bare.But if you stay—If you let yourself be in this day without needing it to prove anything—you will find a depth that time cannot offer.You will find that joy and sorrow are not opposites.They are both companions of the real.You will find that your life was never in your timeline.It was always in your willingness to be here.You will find that peace is not the absence of suffering—it is the end of escape.And you will know—not with your thoughts, but with your breath—that this day is the best day of your life because it is the only day you are truly alive.

It shows up as the expectation to choose security over soul, duty over design, permission over purpose.And it has a voice that sounds a lot like your own.But what if that voice wasn’t yours?What if it was someone else’s shame, internalized?Someone else’s limitation, disguised as wisdom?Someone else’s fear, inherited and rehearsed until it felt like your own?We don’t just need to examine what we want.We need to ask, why don’t I feel safe wanting this?Because desire is never the enemy—it’s a compass.You’re not lost.You’re layered.Layered under the things you were told to be.The roles you thought would earn you love.The versions of you that kept the peace.The survival scripts that no longer fit.And now you’re here, at the edge.The real question is: What would you choose tomorrow if fear didn’t get a vote?If guilt couldn’t speak.If nobody else’s opinion could reach you.Now pause.Feel what just rose in you. The resistance. The ache. The flicker of “could I really?”That’s the threshold. Don’t run from it—run through it.Control hides in the places you justify your silence.It hides in the things you call “not a big deal,” even though they eat you from the inside.It hides in the habits you use to numb.It hides in the relationships where you’re always performing and never seen.So stop and ask:Who do you wish could see you more clearly than they do?And more than that—what are you afraid they’ll find if they truly look?Because part of you is convinced that being seen means being left.But it’s the hiding that keeps you lonely.Let me be clear: freedom is not a vibe. It’s a decision.And it requires fleeing from anything that tries to mold you into something you’re not.You do not reason with control. You do not appease it. You expose it.And then you run—not in fear, but in the full sprint of recognition.You run from the smile that says “you’re too much.”You run from the advice that shrinks your soul.You run from the job that demands your compliance but never rewards your brilliance.You run from the false peace of being liked.And you run toward something deeper.Toward the people who make you feel like you can exhale.Who lets you breathe all the way into your belly?Who makes space for you, not because you’re useful—but because you are?Those people are your mirrors. Your home.Let’s go deeper.Who sees you—not your effort, not your mask, but your marrow?Who listens when you’re not speaking, watches when you disappear, and knows the difference between your silence and your surrender?If you don’t have someone like that, start with yourself.Start by refusing to betray your knowing one more time.Start by telling yourself the truth—even if it wrecks your current life.Start by trusting that what feels like death is actually the end of the lie.Here’s the hardest part: some things in your life are symbols.That job. That partner. That choice you keep justifying. That pain you keep carrying.They’re not just things—they’re representations of something else:Security. Approval. Familiarity. Avoidance. Legacy.And to become free, you must be willing to see what they stand for.You must dare to ask:What story is this thing trying to keep alive?And then decide if you want to keep living inside it.Freedom is not about detaching from reality.It’s about anchoring to the reality of who you are—beneath the scripts, beneath the shaping, beneath the performance.It’s not a path you walk once. It’s a daily tearing off of false layers. A daily choosing of resonance over reputation.So I’ll leave you with this:What are you pretending not to know?What do you feel, but still won’t say out loud?What part of you is still waiting for someone else’s permission to exist?Because once you know the answer, you only have two choices—You run back to the lie.Or you run toward yourself.And this time, you don’t stop.
The Freedom of ResonanceThere is something in us that pulls toward others—not just toward connection, but toward attachment, toward something we can hold, something that feels like proof that we belong. We search for people who will affirm us, complete us, quiet the restless questions in our minds. And yet, the deeper we lean into this pursuit, the more it eludes us.Need disguises itself as love, as friendship, as deep connection. It whispers that closeness is measured by dependency, that the truest bonds are the ones we cannot live without. It tells us that if we do not need someone—or if they do not need us—we must not be truly connected at all.But this is a lie.Need is not connection. It is captivity.When we enter into relationships—any relationship—from a place of need, we are not standing in presence. We are reaching, grasping, leaning toward someone else in the hope that they will supply something missing in us. We are not engaging; we are consuming. We are not relating; we are securing.And in doing so, we do not reveal ourselves. We reveal only the version of ourselves that ensures we will not be left behind.The Weight of NeedNeed is weighty. It clings. It anchors. It demands.It makes us shape our words carefully, measuring our thoughts before they cross our lips, wondering if we will still be chosen if we are fully known. It makes us second-guess silence, fill spaces with pleasantries, perform instead of simply existing.It does not ask, Who am I in this connection? It asks, Who do I need to be in order to keep this connection?And so we shrink. We shift. We play roles we do not even realize we have stepped into. Not because we intend to, not because we mean to be dishonest, but because need makes us afraid. Afraid to lose. Afraid to be alone. Afraid that without this person, this approval, this presence—we might not be enough on our own.But the truth? We were never meant to enter relationships as fractions of ourselves. We were never meant to mold, to contort, to filter out parts of who we are just to hold onto someone who will not hold us as we stand.And yet, when we need, we do just that.The Freedom of ResonanceResonance is different.It is not a demand, not a transaction, not an unconscious effort to be held in place. It is the meeting of two who are whole within themselves. It is presence without possession, closeness without confinement.Resonance does not say, Stay so I won’t be alone.Resonance says, Stand with me so we may amplify one another.Resonance does not say, Complete me.Resonance says, Meet me.To resonate with another is not to need them for our survival. It is to step fully into our own presence, into our own essence, and meet them there. It is to be free in the connection, because what keeps us there is not fear, but alignment.And yet, so many of us are missing this. So many of us are choosing need over resonance, mistaking obligation for love, mistaking attachment for depth. And in doing so, we lose something far greater than a single relationship—we lose the chance to stand in our own presence, to create with clarity, to engage with deeper meaning.The Shift from Need to ResonanceSo what happens when we stop needing and start resonating?We no longer reach for connection like a starving man reaching for bread. We no longer rely on others to fill our silence—we step into it ourselves. We no longer fear solitude—we see it as the foundation for true connection. We no longer cling to people who do not align with us—we let them go, trusting that those who truly see us, who vibrate at the same frequency, will remain.And in doing so, we find the relationships that were always meant for us.Not because they complete us, but because they expand us.Resonance does not bind—it amplifies. It does not ask for proof—it recognizes. It does not shrink to fit—it stretches into fullness.Imagine a conversation where there is no pull, no hesitation, no wondering if you’ve said the right thing. Where the space between words is not filled with anxiety but with understanding. Where laughter rings without restraint, and silence does not need to be patched up—it is honored, held, felt.Imagine standing beside someone—not leaning on them, not propping them up, not adjusting yourself to fit their needs—just standing, together, both grounded, both whole. Not demanding anything, not withholding anything, not shaping yourself into something safer, softer, smaller—just existing, exactly as you are, and knowing that is enough.Because when you resonate, nothing is taken away. There is no depletion, no exhaustion from holding something together that was never meant to be forced. You do not leave an interaction feeling as if some part of you was chipped away to make room for someone else. Instead, you leave expanded, amplified, fuller than when you arrived.This is the difference.Need asks for certainty. Resonance offers trust.Need clings to the familiar. Resonance calls us into the unknown.Need binds us to a version of ourselves that is digestible, safe, small.Resonance dares us to be.And when we choose to be?We do not just find connection.We find freedom.

The End of Anxiety: How Knowing Myself Set Me FreeAnxiety is the chaos of being lost—the fear that arises when you do not trust, love, know, or believe in yourself enough to face, handle, embrace, or overcome an experience, whether real or imagined.I haven’t felt anxiety in over 660 days. No panic, no racing thoughts, no knots in my stomach, no dread clawing at my chest. It’s not because life suddenly became predictable or easy. It’s not because I mastered some perfect meditation technique or found a way to avoid stress. It’s because I found myself.Anxiety, for most of my life, was a constant companion. It wasn’t always loud, but it was always there. The fear of making the wrong choice, the uncertainty of whether I was enough, the constant second-guessing, the need for approval, the pressure to meet expectations that weren’t even mine—these were the invisible weights I carried. I didn’t call it anxiety. I just thought it was life. I thought the overthinking, the tension, the exhaustion were normal.But the truth is, anxiety isn’t natural. It’s not who we are. It’s a symptom, evidence that something inside is misaligned, that we are living outside of ourselves, grasping for certainty in a world that doesn’t offer it. It’s the chaos that comes from being lost, from not trusting, loving, knowing, or believing in who we are enough to face whatever comes without fear.The day my anxiety ended wasn’t the day my circumstances changed. It was the day I stopped fighting for control and started fighting for clarity.Anxiety is a Byproduct of Disconnection from SelfAnxiety thrives in the unknown, and nothing is more terrifying than not knowing who you are. Because if you don’t know who you are, how can you trust yourself? How can you make decisions without fear? How can you move through life without being shaken by every challenge, rejection, or moment of uncertainty?For years, I thought I had to fix my anxiety by fixing the world around me. I believed that if I could just get things right, make the right decisions, surround myself with the right people, avoid mistakes, plan ahead enough, I could finally relax. But no amount of external control silences an internal war.The turning point came when I realized my anxiety wasn’t the problem—it was a symptom. It was a signal, not a truth. It wasn’t telling me that I was incapable, unsafe, or at risk. It was telling me that I was misaligned, that I had built an identity on expectations, roles, and fears that weren’t mine.And so, instead of trying to calm my anxiety, I decided to listen to it.Peeling Back the Layers of False IdentityI started asking different questions.Not How do I get rid of this anxiety? but What is it trying to tell me?Not How do I become less afraid? but What am I afraid of losing?Not How do I fix myself? but Who am I, underneath all of this?And as I peeled back the layers, I saw the truth: Anxiety had never been about the external world. It had always been about the internal disconnect between who I really was and who I had been trying to be.I had spent years living by rules I didn’t write, holding onto beliefs I never questioned, clinging to roles I thought I had to play. And every bit of that was a weight pressing down, suffocating the real me.The moment I let go of those false identities, the moment I stopped filtering my choices through fear and external validation, the anxiety disappeared. Not because I learned to manage it, but because I no longer needed it. There was no uncertainty, because I no longer needed the world to tell me who I was.Anxiety is Not a Battle, It’s a BeaconMost people try to fight anxiety. They push it down, distract themselves, drown it out with noise, with busyness, with coping mechanisms that offer temporary relief but never real freedom. But anxiety isn’t something to fight. It’s something to listen to. It’s a beacon flashing misalignment, misalignment, misalignment.It’s telling you that somewhere along the way, you got lost. That you’re trying to be something you’re not. That you’re holding onto expectations, obligations, fears, and false identities that are pulling you away from your true self.When you stop resisting anxiety and start investigating it, everything changes.You realize that your fear of failure isn’t about failure—it’s about believing your worth is tied to achievement.Your fear of rejection isn’t about other people—it’s about believing that your value comes from being accepted.Your fear of uncertainty isn’t about the future—it’s about not trusting yourself to handle it.And the moment you see these fears for what they are, they lose their grip.Freedom Comes From Full Identity AlignmentI don’t experience anxiety anymore because I don’t experience misalignment anymore. I know who I am. My choices are clear, my direction is certain, not because I know the outcome, but because I know the one walking into it—me.When you know yourself fully, fear disappears. There’s no anxiety about whether you’re doing the right thing because the only “right” thing is what aligns with you.There’s no anxiety about other people’s opinions because they don’t define you.There’s no anxiety about the future because nothing out there can take away what’s already solid inside.This is the path to freedom. Not controlling the world, not avoiding risk, not numbing fear—but knowing yourself so deeply that fear has nowhere to take root.If you’re still fighting anxiety, it’s not because you need more coping mechanisms. It’s because you need more you. The real you. The one underneath the layers of expectation, pressure, and fear. The one who isn’t lost.Anxiety ends when you come home to yourself. Forgiveness is a word that carries the weight of a lifetime, doesn’t it? It’s simple to say, but its depth is something that can drown you before it saves you. For years, I misunderstood forgiveness. I thought it was something I did for the benefit of others, a way to release them from the consequences of their actions. What I didn’t see—what I couldn’t see—was how forgiveness was never about them. It was about me. It was about stepping into the fullness of who I am in Christ, the forgiven and free, and learning to walk in that freedom, unchained by the opinions or actions of others.There was a season when my identity felt wrapped up in the pain I carried. I was hurt deeply, unjustly, by people I trusted—people who should have known me better, loved me better, but instead betrayed me. Their words tore at my character, reshaping how others saw me. But perhaps the hardest part wasn’t the betrayal itself. It was the fact that they painted me as someone I was not, and no matter how much I wanted to prove them wrong, their opinions hung in the air, out of my reach, like an unwelcome shadow.I carried their words with me, replaying their accusations and slights in my mind as if revisiting them could undo the damage. I thought if I could fix their perception of me, I could heal. But the truth is, their opinions were never mine to control. And holding on to their offenses didn’t protect me—it imprisoned me.The Weight of InjusticeUnforgiveness is heavy. It’s not a weight you hold in your hands—it’s one you carry in your soul. It wraps itself around your thoughts, your relationships, even your faith. For years, I thought my bitterness was justified. After all, I was the victim, wasn’t I? I told myself I was protecting my heart by keeping my guard up, but in reality, I was reinforcing the walls of a prison I didn’t even realize I was building.Spiritually, I struggled with this. I knew I was supposed to forgive. The Bible is clear: “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” But the words felt like a burden, a standard I couldn’t meet. How could I forgive when the wound was so deep and the offender so unrepentant?It wasn’t until I truly reflected on my identity in Christ that the walls began to crack. I am forgiven. I am free. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. These aren’t just words—they’re a reality. If Jesus had forgiven me completely, how could I hold on to someone else’s offense? That realization didn’t erase the pain, but it gave me a reason to lay down the weight I had been carrying.Wanting to Be SeenThe hardest part, though, wasn’t just letting go of the hurt. It was letting go of the need for vindication. I wanted people to see me—not as the person I was made out to be, but as who I truly am. I wanted them to see the love in my heart, the integrity of my character, the person I knew myself to be.But here’s the truth I had to accept: their opinion of me was none of my business. It didn’t matter if they never saw the truth, if they never admitted they were wrong, or if they never asked for forgiveness. Their validation wasn’t what defined me. God’s love for me did.The Turning PointThe moment of clarity came when I realized my bitterness wasn’t affecting them—it was affecting me. They had moved on with their lives, while I was stuck, replaying their words and actions like a broken record. It was about surrendering my right to retribution. Jesus had forgiven me fully, unconditionally. Who was I to hold someone else’s sin against them when mine had been wiped away?Emotionally, it meant letting go of the story I had been telling myself. It meant no longer rehearsing the offense in my mind. I started praying for them—not for punishment or justice, but for their good. At first, those prayers felt forced, even hollow. Living Freely Without Fear: A Call to the ChurchIn the New Testament, the concept of freedom is central to the believer's life. This freedom, as taught by Jesus and the apostles, isn’t just about being released from the bondage of sin; it’s about living in a state of spiritual liberty that reflects the gospel's transformative power. But as we explore this freedom, we must recognize a crucial aspect: true freedom in Christ allows us to live without fear—of each other, of the world, and even of our own failures.Jesus said in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." This freedom is comprehensive; it’s freedom from sin’s power, freedom from the condemnation of the law, and freedom to live as God intended—joyfully and without fear. Yet, we know that as human beings, we are often entangled in fear. Fear of judgment from others, fear of rejection, fear of failure, and even fear of truly being known. These fears can trap us, keeping us from experiencing the fullness of the freedom Christ promises.The church, as a community of believers, is meant to be a place where this freedom is lived out collectively. In Galatians 5:13, Paul reminds us, "For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another." This freedom isn’t about doing whatever we want; it’s about serving one another in love, free from the constraints of fear, suspicion, or hidden agendas. But what happens when fear creeps in?Fear can lead us to misunderstand or even harm one another, often under the guise of good intentions. We think we’re protecting ourselves or others, but in reality, fear-driven actions can fracture relationships and sow distrust. James 3:16 says, "For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice." Fear often disguises itself as concern, leading to jealousy, mistrust, and disunity. Instead of embracing the freedom Christ promises, we can become ensnared by these fears, and our relationships within the church suffer as a result.So how do we combat this? By cultivating an environment where freedom is not just a theological concept, but a lived reality. A church should be a place where people can be themselves without fear of condemnation, where they are free to grow, free to struggle, and free to be vulnerable. This kind of freedom fosters trust, unity, and deep, authentic relationships.It’s crucial for us to remember that this freedom is rooted in love and trust—trust in God and trust in one another. As 1 John 4:18 tells us, "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love." In a community perfected in love, fear has no place. This doesn’t mean we won’t face challenges or misunderstandings, but it does mean that we approach these challenges from a place of love, grace, and freedom rather than fear.As a pastor, my heart is to help guard this freedom within our community. I want to be someone who nurtures an environment where you can walk in this freedom confidently—free from fear of judgment, free from fear of rejection, and free to be who God has called you to be. This means fostering open communication, encouraging vulnerability, and continually pointing us all back to the freedom we have in Christ.We are called to be a people who live freely, not just in theory but in practice—loving one another genuinely, trusting one another deeply, and walking together without fear. My prayer is that we become a community that embodies this freedom, where every person can experience the fullness of life in Christ without the chains of fear holding them back. This is the kind of church I want to be a part of—a church where freedom is our reality, our testimony, and our shared experience.

No, that man needed to die. And die, he did.In some cases, the situation is so dire that replacement, not repair, is the only viable option. Yet, this does not negate the principle that everything is redeemable; everyone is capable of change.It doesn't require mastery to effect this transformation. It requires discovery.The more VALUE you bring into the world, the less freedom you have to sabotage your life because your purpose becomes a lifeline for others. Picture this: a single drop of water falling into a still pond, creating ripples that extend far beyond its point of impact. Similarly, our actions and purpose send waves that touch lives we might never meet. This truth underscores a profound reality: as our influence grows, so does our responsibility. Our actions no longer affect just ourselves; they ripple out, impacting the lives of those who depend on our purpose, our vision, and our very being.Meeting people is where life happens, I believe, in its purest form. At this point, I realize that just as I have been inspired and in awe of others, they, too, have been inspired and in awe of me. This mutual inspiration is the essence of human connection. We are only special in our unique ability and interest in the lives of those around us… which makes us part of something greater: purpose, legacy, movement. I am often inspired.Yet, this dependency from others can morph into unhealthy codependency if not navigated with wisdom and discernment. Consider the overbearing parent who, in their desire to protect, stifles the growth and independence of their child. It is here that we must lead from the ROOT of autonomy. Autonomy does not imply isolation but rather a well-defined sense of self that establishes clear boundaries with everyone around us. Imagine a garden: each plant thrives best when given its own space to grow, with clear boundaries to prevent entanglement and allow each one to flourish. These boundaries are not barriers but bridges to healthier, more authentic relationships. They delineate where we end and others begin, fostering an environment where mutual respect and individual growth coexist.This is where strong interdependence and accountability are forged. It is within this space of healthy boundaries and self-awareness that intimate life thrives. Think of a dance: two partners moving in harmony, each aware of their own steps yet perfectly in sync with the other. This thriving intimacy is not confined to romantic relationships but extends to all forms of human connection. It is the bedrock upon which trust is built and upon which transformation occurs.For the believer, this autonomy is the ROOT of our purpose, the POWER of our being, the CONTROL of our intention, and the PLAYFULNESS found in the joy of being who we are without fear, shame, or regret. This freedom, rooted in an understanding of God's ultimate authority and purpose, encourages a bold and fearless engagement with the world, unshackled by the constraints of fear or conformity.
“When we perceive a man, we perceive him as a whole. His physical body, his intellect, his personality – it’s all tied into who he is as a person. So, while his body may be aging, he’s growing more independent, successful, and mature. Therefore, he's still attractive – perhaps even more so. It doesn’t matter that he’s got some wrinkles, because his body is healthily aligned with his being.”Grace, the woman who wrote this about men observes the antithesis in the world concerning women. I'm not here to debate it, it is true. Period. I'll talk in future publishing about this.While some people would argue that women are not seen differently, it doesn't negate that it is true for many and a lack of privilege presented a different worldview. To argue against another person's experience is foolish. We don't get to speak for all who share commonality with us.I look to start a conversation that would begin "When we perceive a [wo]man, we perceive him her as a whole."While there are many men who would readily vow to perceive women as her whole, we must not be naive and pretend that our culture does not, as a collective, see women in this way. The loud, bold, open, and exposed reality of how some men view women is violent and subtle. The violent side of things, the hate, the ridicule, the objectification, the lack of empathy, the blind-sided workload, and the emotional and physical abuse are easy to spot. The subtle side is often more demeaning and unconsciously active. This is true, even for our sisters in this world. Subtle defines what is often unnoticeable. And what is unnoticeable can often be deadly. The death of agency, death of liberty, death of identity, and death of self-worth are just a few outcomes of unseen misogyny and sexism. I hope to explain the identity-crippling, painful, and isolating abuses and the emotional terror they cause in future writings. Seeing something and how it affects others can't be unseen. Once you see certain things, especially systemic and cultural hatred of half the population, you can't put that back in the bottle and be considered human. We don't know who can and cannot see women in a true sense as human beings, persons, and equals. For the men who do, it is obvious that we do not control the dominant voice and it appears to me, that we aren't even on the airwaves.For over twenty years I have been preparing to speak to this issue. I'm not speaking for women or even to women. No, mainly I am speaking about how many view women and how men who see and know the truth should be partners in this journey to right centuries of wrongs.It is wrong.That is not up for discussion.Grace asks her readers to "Think of the most beautiful woman you know.""I doubt you’re thinking about her boobs or butt. You’re probably thinking about her vibe, her energy, how she makes you feel when you’re around her, how she is healthily aligned with her being. She doesn’t try hard because she doesn’t have to. She is firm, grounded, strong. She is emotional, sensitive, compassionate. She is everything that makes a woman and more. She is not the sum of her parts. She is not a trend. She is a gestalt."Society, culture, and everything that makes these things tick is responsible. So, because we comprise society, we are responsible for changing it.My next book publishing will be the title of this essay, and if permitted, will reveal my life-long passion for this issue, my journey to seeing things as they are, and that the spiritual side of life and love demands such attention, reform, and relegation of both the bold and silent bias against our sisters.In this speaking, our sisters do not need men to defend them, fight for them, or stand in their place. This is part of the problem. They have the agency and ability to do so. They need partnership as human beings to overcome a long-standing hatred that is so common it's nearly invisible. But they can see.

I think we need to talk.
Here are some thoughts relating to the future.
I am sure many will have questions, but most of all, I hope everyone has ears to hear and to listen.
Love is a term that many people use without meaning or purpose and sometimes it is assigned the wrong definition. God is love and His love toward His elect is a decisive action unto their eternal life, redemption, forgiveness, etc. I want to encourage you to think on this Love of God this year... this day... right now.
There is never a day when I don't have some sense of a spiritual struggle. Even in the best of days, the enemy is at work, my flesh enjoys the ride, and the Spirit within is at war. Thankfully, I don't have to come to rest in my struggle in order to be assured and secure in Christ; he's done that work in my place. But there are many things that I have noticed cause a worse struggle within, namely, some of the things I put into my mind at times...
There is no room for a "close" gospel, and according to Paul in Galatians, any iteration of the gospel that is not pure on both sides is a false gospel. Therefore, those who hold as their hope these nuanced gospels are to be understood as having not been converted as they do not have the truth.
The bible and the brethren are essential "legs" of the Christian's life. Without ONE of these, there is no real or tangible way that any believer will be healthy and growing. Think about this for a minute, and remember, these thoughts are for your perusal, for your thinking... are you listening?
Evangelism is the PURPOSE of most religious groups in the world. The Christian faith surely should be actively involved in reaching God's lost sheep with the gospel of grace. But the methods employed most of the time are not necessarily good or effective. What does Scripture say? This brief thought is just to jar our minds and get us thinking as we look to the future of this topic. We can either trust God's word or we can't. That is the simple truth of evangelism.
Reading books is something I LOVE. And for the longest time, I hated reading anything but Scripture... or comic books as a kid. (And the season read through of encyclopedia sets). OK, I have always loved to read, but only what I loved to read. To the point. I get questions related to what books Christians should be reading nearly every week. So, my thoughts, in brief, is that we should be reading the Bible more than anything else. If I spend an hour reading other material (even about Scripture), I should be reading the bible three times longer.
Four years ago this week my eldest daughter, for an academic project, needed to interview someone relating to their profession. She chose to ask me a series of questions relating to my life as a pastor. Having been reminded of this today I read back through my answers and the answer to this question is necessary for many who are in the ministry of shepherding these days. I have already made the distinction of a pastor/shepherd and just a teacher/preacher. The first does the second but not all who do the latter are called to the first. This answer was given to a 16-year-old girl who has always been fascinated by the work of the Lord in our lives, and moreover, His providence in the times of great hardship.
How has being a pastor affected your life? Well, it has made my life hard. Ministry for the average “church” is just a list of things done and programs practiced, but for me it has been different. Having pastored churches of over 2000 members as well as churches of 40 members, God has allowed me to see one continual stream through it all: suffering. In suffering God is made brighter because I have not been able to qualify any success in ministry by my wisdom or hands. So, at many times pastoring is a lonely place, even though we are surrounding continually by people, the burden is difficult to express and in some ways, unnecessary. Many pastors will lie and say, “It’s a big ball of fun..” But it isn’t, it is gloriously satisfying but gravely burdensome. So, to simply put it, pastoring has allowed me to see that my life is not mine, but it is God’s and He has given it away to others for His name’s sake. This gives me great satisfaction.
This, among other things, is a great reminder and glimpse at the nature of the cross work of Christ, the continued work of laboring as Paul and the Apostles did for the sheep of Christ. We will suffer and we will suffer well. [18] And when they came to him, he said to them: “You yourselves know how I lived among you the whole time from the first day that I set foot in Asia, [19] serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials that happened to me through the plots of the Jews; [20] how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house, [21] testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. [22] And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there, [23] except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me. [24] But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. (Acts 20:18–24)
I've got the Joy Joy Joy... well, somewhere! Joy is often difficult to find in the midst of trials. Christ is our joy, He doesn't just "bring" our joy and even when we can't find it, see it or feel it, it is there because the Promises of Christ of Christ is there. Gladly, even when we find ourselves unable to pray we can trust that God the Spirit will pray for us, prompt us to pray and endeavor the journey for us. We need the facts, We have to solve this case! What evidence should accompany true faith? If we had to measure an evidence so we could be sure that we are saved what would it look like? Is it works? AM I supposed to measure myself in the mirror against Jesus? Maybe a neighbor? True saving faith is the primary evidence of regeneration/salvation. There are many false teachers that don't know it! In our world few individuals know how to speak accurately, read comprehensively or communicate effectively. We live in a time where it is easier to laugh, poke, scoff, and make fun of someone and their ideas rather than be confronted by the fact that we just don't know how to listen. There is a grave disconnect... From the teaching of Scripture on how a teacher of the Word of God is supposed to act, think, speak and respond to error and what we see in today's culture on Facebook and other social media platforms. Disrespect is never OK, it is always sinful. And I can prove contextually that God has never called anyone to the ministry of "calling out error" but rather has called SOME to the ministry of dividing rightly the truth. 1 Peter 3:13–17 [13] Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? [14] But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, [15] but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, [16] having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. [17] For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil. .

The Sifter of Heretics! Is not your title, nor your job. Regular interaction on FB and social media platforms have become a demonic breeding ground for mean-spirited and arrogant controversy under the guise of "truth" proclamation and "correction." Teachers have a clear message and mission found in Scripture and they would do well to heed it and quit being so rude. Do you want to teach? Then you must teach as God has commanded. You are not Jesus and you are neither Peter nor Paul. You are to be nothing. No name, no fame, and for the sake of our God in Heaven, you are not needed in this fight. You must be patient and KIND to all people. You must have the heart of a teacher and be willing to learn. You don’t know anything much less anything. God can take the dumbest man in the sack and give him insight into the divine through Scripture by the Spirit. Get to work proclaiming, and be honest. Lying is the biggest problem of it all. You talk, interact, and most of the time it is from a satanic assumption that is from your flesh. As for me, I pray you hear. I want to teach the Scripture to you and learn from you. But these things have really iced the cake of division. No thank you, I don’t care for a slice.

The Pope, Nuff Said! We cannot promise what Scripture does not teach. We cannot deny what Scripture clearly reveals. Culture has always dictated belief systems and in this present age, just as in the age of Paul, people in their natural flesh will not endure sound teaching. So, they gather up teachers that will say what they want to hear. The Pope by all necessary explanation is anathema due to the fact that he grants promises through weak and situationally insufficient logic in order to appease the crowd. Sadly, I don’t think this is intentional but is motivated about of love and compassion for hurting humans. However, this compassion is resistant to the didactic of Holy Writ, through which we have the fullness of the holiness of God revealed, first through His creation, then His law, the finally and fully through His Son. God is not pleased with the works of man. He cannot be because all men have fallen from the glory of God and are guilty before Him. Romans 1 teaches that the wrath of God WILL BE poured out on all ungodliness and unrighteousness of man. Man in his natural state of depravity, even when he labors to seek after God and to know him, is still guilty. No man is justified by the works of the law… However, one must be a believer by exercising faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. God does not look at the good deeds of man and justify them, He looks only that the holiness of His Son Jesus and through Jesus is a man justified, redeemed, and propitiated (God’s justice satisfied), thus Jesus Christ alone by grace through faith saves, not our good deeds. Someone who rejects the gospel of grace is condemned already according to Jesus because He is not believing in the Only Son (John 3:16-18) and thus the condemnation REMAINS on Him. Salvation is by the Lord, God saves, God decides who goes to Heaven for sure, but this election is not up for human subjectivity, no, it is objectively God’s design and decree. So, to promise anyone that God will work outside of His revealed word is foolish, and quite honestly, downright cruel. Yes, it may give a temporary peace but in reality, it hardens the heart of the listener from the truth as it drags them further and further away from the center of life; Jesus Christ Alone. So, we know that one who refuses to believe is not going to enter into the rest of the Lord’s salvation because that is ONLY found in the Finished work of Jesus Christ who pays for our sins. Jesus Christ Alone. That’s the only message that is true, anything else is a devil’s lie. Rest well beloved. What are we to do with our sin? In our congregational teaching mid-week, we are going through the book of Romans in a "reading" style of exposition. That is we are dealing with arguments, theological teachings, and expressions in chunks rather than intense verse-by-verse. This excerpt is from the full sermon and is toward the latter part of the message where I express a few examples of why we continue to struggle with sin and how life and our dead flesh just seems to rise up and make war. I end with the idea that Paul teaches that Christ has suffered for our sins, so we are alive in Him just as we have died in Him. Interpreting Scripture Well, as you know the Bible can be intimidating and at times we can read something within the pages and wonder what we have seen as if it were in another language. While this is true, I believe it stems from the error of thinking that we have to "interpret" every portion of Scripture. Make sure that what they teach is contextual... Be A Berean. This podcast supposes that people just agree with what suits their intellectual pallet and that they should begin to study and test everything they hear. Acts 17:10–12 [10] The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. [11] Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. When we preach the full counsel, we don't skip parts. There is a short supply of expositors in our day. Much more is the scarcity of those who will not ignore difficult doctrines (teachings) in Scripture. One point that proves this is how so many pastors will preach 'from' the Bible or "use" the Bible for a sermon they prepared and after years of teaching have never taught, dealt with or even approached the teaching of election. They are fearful, they are not wanting division. But in the end, it is election that causes the rift because it is the gospel of God.

Most preaching isn't teaching...! There is no office of "preacher" in the New Testament. No such role exists. While "preaching" does happen, the Pastor is one who oversees and rightly teaches the church. He guards them and guides them through the right contextual exposition of Scripture. This podcast briefly considers the current trend of so many pastors who are always want to be known, famous or have an online following at the cost of their current shepherding. Pastors need to be faithful and put away things that remove their heart's focus from the local church.
"No matter who's looking at us, God is always watching. Be therefore faithful to the call."
What is God Teaching Me? I get this question often as so many times people think that the experiences they live through continue until they "learn" the lesson God is trying to teach them. Scripture alone is the source of learning from God and there are no other means through which God will teach. Now, we are reminded and experience the truths of God's word and promises throughout our lives as we are reminded and apply the truths therein. Rest in the perfect will of God and no longer be tossed to and fro by superstition or doubt.
"WE have all spiritual blessings in Christ. There is nothing being withheld in wisdom or blessing from our Father."
Gossip Kills the Church: Pastoral Accusations Accusations against the pastor that are not biblical, done in a biblical way or are unfounded wreaks havoc on the local body causing distrust and suspicion. The person that does these things according to scripture should be immediately dismissed from the fellowship and brought under discipline if they do not arrest the behavior and make confession of their sin to the church immediately.
"Gossip is murder and it comes in many forms. Accusing the pastor outside the bounds of Scripture can devour intimacy in the church."
Gossip Kills the Church: Comparisons Self Righteous Comparison This type of Christian easily finds fault with others. They misunderstand that love covers a multitude of sin and they feel slighted if they find sin in the lives of others. By harping on such things, they become snared as stated above, and it becomes one of their greatest hangups. In reality, they forget the forest of logs in their own eyes and succumb to being spiritual police rather that spiritual siblings in need of Grace. This type of person doesn’t always gossip, but if they are left in this state, they will tell someone why they feel burdened: this is gossip. They forget that they don’t have the role or authority to deal with the sin in other’s lives because they have plenty of their own.
"Gossip is murder and it comes in many forms. Self-Righteous comparisons hold people to standards that we do not meet or hold to ourselves."
Gossip Kills the Church: Secret Attacks Secret Attacks These could look much like the above practices but with the intention of making problems or sin known to others. Secret attacks against another sibling in Christ is actually an attack on Jesus directly. It is birthed from a desire to make sure everyone “knows” about the sinner among us, or worse, that there is someone that is not living as they “say” they are living. It only takes a few days for this type of thing to get out of control and cause serious damage to the unity of the church. Not only is it demonic, it is intended to do damage. This is often seen in the local church when someone doesn’t feel right about something and begins to keep tabs, make judgments, and then spread such things. For example, they see a sister always coming in late to service, leaving quickly afterward and not engaging. They will begin to watch this person intently, each week, and make notes of her actions. Then they will assume that the sister is in sin because she is not setting the example of timeliness and in their judgment have decided that such should be dealt with, after all, this person teaches a bible study on Thursdays. So they begin to call, talk, pray for and make it known that this teacher should be called out for her lack of holiness. What the person doesn’t know, is that the devil has snared them. How? First, the devil has made them notice this, not God the Spirit. Second, their judgment is evidence of their heart: they have a problem, not a solution. Third, they intention is not even for the joy of their sister, but for her pain and correction. Fourth, they fail to know that their judgment is bearing false witness because they don’t even know the truth of this person’s medical condition, schedule, or the fact that she prays with the leaders before and after church. And quite frankly, it is none of their business. Busybodies are also murderers in the church. That’s another post.

Gossip Kills the Church: Murmurs Quiet Murmurs These are the small and subtle thoughts that plague the mind and end up on the tongue, text, private meeting, phone call etc. Even when prayer is the central motivation, the details and names of people are off the table. Yes, prayer meetings are often the largest gossip sessions in the church. There are the discussions about someone else without them being present. When the subject of any sin, rebuke or testimony is not the first to be informed, the one speaking on the matter is doing the work of Satan. Talking ‘around’ the subject of a conversation, concern or critique is one of the largest attacks that the enemy uses to destroy the intimacy of the church. If the local body would adhere to the word of God, they would find that anyone who participates in such practices in either the capacity of the voice or the ear, should be brought publicly to the church immediately. Public warning of division, which includes quiet murmurs, is found in many New Testament epistles. The general prescription is that if they do it after the second warning, they should be excommunicated from the church. Bear in mind that often times, this type of gossip is first done in ignorance with good intentions, but it needs to be corrected so that the church is protected from the deceit of the enemy.

Gossip Kills the Church: Muderous Gossip is very tragic. It happens sometimes without awareness but it is always rooted in a sinister heart and used in sinister ways to divide and destroy relationships in the body of Christ. Understanding the ways in which gossip invades our lives is the first step in recognizing it. The Scripture provides the remedy and forgiveness is always available as is reconciliation between the brethren.

The Duty of A Pastor to be FAITHFUL This podcast briefly discusses that the Pastor should be faithful to his calling by the grace of God and not be entangled in the things of this world but trust and point to the ONE who is faithful, Jesus Christ. Fulfilling faithfully his call to Christ. Without the grace of God, no one would be able to ever be faithful to their calling. And without the grace of God, we would all abandon our faith. God’s grace is the power of the pastor’s success and true success is NOT measured in salvation, baptism, numbers, finances or the like. Any professional could produce the right numbers through the easily manipulated minds of men. And it is surely God that produces the fruit of the labors of any ministry that He alone gets the glory. God called Noah and Isaiah to a fruitless ministry of no conversion and total rejection. What makes us think we’ll see anything different? The pastor should be faithful to these things above all other duties and if he is gifted in areas outside of these, then, by all means, he should exercise these gifts, however, any man that calls himself pastor, cannot be such without these traits given to him by the Holy Spirit of God.
