Throughout church history there has been a consistent, if not defective, tendency to attempt to fix the problems within by forcing goats to behave like sheep. By demanding a work of righteousness before salvation, before even an explanation is given, effectively putting the cart before the horse. One prime example of this was the Purity Culture, which hit its fever pitch in the 90's and has had some devastating affects. Unfortunately, the ideas promoted in that movement linger on, and need to be addressed. So, what to do? The obvious answer is to bring Kristin Everett onto the program so that she can single handedly solve all the woes brought on by Purity Culture. Listen in as she gives first hand examples, as well as many sent in to her via the mysterious "stitching" of TikTok videos, showing the sad state of works based religion masquerading as morality lessons for teens. We get into the nitty gritty as well as detailing solutions, and a far bit of theology to help negate this unhelpful teaching. Christian Cliche's! We've all heard them, some of us have even used them, but are they Biblical? According to polls, 81% of professing Christians actually believe that one of these phrases is a genuine Bible verse. But here's the kicker, not only are NONE of these in the Word of God, most of them are completely unbiblical. I brought my amazingly wonderful, utterly handsome husband, Justin Hereford, onto the program today to break these down Scripturally and logically. If you haven't heard of A.R.C. don't worry you're not alone, I hadn't either. This extremely pervasive and dangerous pyramid scheme has swept not just the country, but the globe. With a strange mixture of WoF, Charismatic, New Age, and Prosperity Gospel, this group is planting churches using the most successful seeker driven models to date. What happens when false teaching is pointed out to a church inside this coalition will leave you speechless. Using tactics rarely seen outside of the most organized cults, push back is shut down through aggressive, manipulative, shaming, shunning, and slander. I was absolutely thrilled to have my very favorite guest I've ever had on the program join me once again. Yes, I'm extremely biased, because this particular guest happens to be my beloved husband and best friend Justin Hereford. You know anytime I'm around him I have a much harder time staying focused or being serious, which is why I highly recommend the blooper reelz on this episode! This discussion was all about the false prophets who made errant claims about certain leaders and specific outcomes of races recently run. I played the clips of these false prophets for Justin who had never seen anything I showed him, so it was a fresh shock caught on camera. Our goal was to address the theological issues with each teacher, as well as have some fun and maybe even make you all laugh right when you feel like you might cry...or pull your hair out. It's always fascinating to me that so many want to suggest that Christianity borrows stories from other pagan religions when those ancient religions have next to no textual witnesses. The New Testament, on the other hand, has tens of thousands of copies in multiple languages, with only a few decades passing between the original and the copies we have. Unlike most manuscripts from antiquities that have hundreds of years between the few available copies found and when the story was originally told, God's Word has copies from when disciples of the Apostles were still alive. Not to mention the tens of thousands of manuscripts written by those same patristic fathers, all quoting from Scripture so much that the New Testament could be rewritten simply through the quotations. What a tremendous blessing!

Today I have dropped an episode with sweaty palms, and a knot in my stomach. Why? Because this topic makes me, as you'll see/hear, quite uncomfortable. CDD, Christian Domestic Discipline, is a strange topic, but one that needed to be addressed. Those who are adherents to CDD believe that the husband should physically disciple his wife when she sins. Today's episode is one that was a joy to record, since I was joined by my little sister-in-Christ Kim Starling. Kim was gracious enough to join me to discuss a very controversial and difficult subject, P.T.S.D. After serving in Iraq Kim found herself struggling with issues stemming from her childhood on through adulthood, as well as the lingering affects of the war. After God saved her, she was able to surround herself with other believers who have continued to display Christ's love to her through their actions and reactions during times of stress and triggers. It's not always the case that churches are equipped to help congregants in this way, so Kim walked me through what works, what doesn't, and how we can serve our brothers and sisters-in-Christ as they deal with similar issues. We both hope that this episode will give each of us a glimpse into the inner difficulties of P.T.S.D, while offering solutions that might not have been considered. Today's episode is going to be a lot different than the previous ones. For starters, this one is just me, no co-host or guest to interview. I'm not sure how I stayed on track but if you want the blooper reel you'll see that, well, it was a painful process. Today I was blessed to have Patrick back for another cross over, discussing Romans 13.
"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed." Romans 13: 1-7
Currently, we're all discussing the governments roll in shutting down churches while the pandemic continued. There are so many things that have to be addressed, but they should ALL be addressed Biblically. In this episode the gals are in another crossover with Patrick from A Cave to the Cross Apologetics discussing discernment and rightly judging those teachers who are teaching falsely. What does it mean to slander, blaspheme, or believe/teach heresy? How do we judge righteously? The three discuss each of these issues with a Scriptural perspective.

Slander TS 00:18:00
Slander (etymologically a doublet of "scandal," from OFr. esclandre, Latin scandalum, "stumblingblock") is an accusation maliciously uttered, with the purpose or effect of damaging the reputation of another. As a rule it is a false charge (compare Matthew 5:11); but it may be a truth circulated insidiously and with a hostile purpose (e.g. Daniel 3:8, "brought accusation against," where Septuagint has diaballo, "slander"; Luke 16:1, the same Greek word). Warnings, condemnations and complaints in reference to this sin are very frequent, both in the Old Testament and New Testament. Mischievous "tale-bearing" or "whispering" is condemned (Leviticus 19:16; Ezekiel 22:9). There are repeated warnings against evil-speaking (as in Psalms 34:13; Proverbs 15:28; Ephesians 4:31; Colossians 3:8; James 4:11; 1 Peter 3:10), which is the cause of so much strife between man and man (Proverbs 16:27-30), and which recoils on the speaker himself to his destruction (Psalms 101:5; 140:11). Especially is false witness, which is "slander carried into a court of justice," to be condemned and punished (Exodus 20:16; Deuteronomy 19:16-21; compare Proverbs 12:17; 14:5,25; 19:5; 21:28; 24:28). Special cases of slander more than usually mean are when a wife's chastity is falsely impeached by her husband (Deuteronomy 22:13-19), and when one slanders a servant to his master (Proverbs 30:10). Even a land may be slandered as well as persons (Numbers 14:36). Slanderers and backbiters are mentioned in some of Paul's darkest catalogues of evildoers (Romans 1:29,30; 2 Corinthians 12:20; 2 Timothy 3:3).
Heresy TS 00:37:25
from a Greek word signifying (1) a choice, (2) the opinion chosen, and (3) the sect holding the opinion. In the Acts of the Apostles ( 5:17 ; 15:5 ; Isaiah 24:5 Isaiah 24:14 ; 26:5 ) it denotes a sect, without reference to its character. Elsewhere, however, in the New Testament it has a different meaning attached to it. Paul ranks "heresies" with crimes and seditions ( Galatians 5:20 ). This word also denotes divisions or schisms in the church ( 1 Corinthians 11:19 ). In Titus 3:10 a "heretical person" is one who follows his own self-willed "questions," and who is to be avoided. Heresies thus came to signify self-chosen doctrines not emanating from God ( 2 Peter 2:1 ).
Blasphemy TS 01:05:00
The Old Testament At least five different Hebrew verbs are translated "blaspheme" in English translations. Translators choose "blaspheme" when, for instance, the verbs "curse" (qalal [l;l'q]), "revile" (gadap [@;d"G]), or "despise" (herep) are used with God as the object. No special verb is reserved for cursing or insults directed at God. However, to curse or insult God is an especially grave sin. It can be done by word or by deed. There is little distinction between the sinner who deliberately abuses the name of the Lord ( Le 24:10-16 ), and the one who deliberately flouts his commandments ( Nu 15:30-31 ).
For both, the death penalty is prescribed.
Similarly, the prayer of the Levites in Nehemiah 9 calls "awful blasphemies" all that Israelites did when they made the golden calf (9:18). David's flagrant sin with Bathsheba may be called a blasphemy ( 2 Sa 12:14 ), but a more likely translation is that David has "made the enemies of the Lord show utter contempt" (NIV).

She now spends her days learning more and more about Gods Word, encouraging believers, and warning others about false teachers. She was gracious enough to spend several hours talking with us, although most of that conversation wasn't able to make it onto the program as it pertains to her next book. Hopefully, by now the recent events surrounding Moore have calmed down enough for us all to sit down and have a genuine conversation about whether or not she should be teaching. A beloved family friend joins me today on the program to detail the struggle she and her husband have had in the fight to mortify the sin of lust. Since he was a child, her husband has battled with the desire to watch porn. Hear how the two of them have come together to make a battle plan to do away with this sin once and for all. In Tulips and Honey's first episode we start with my personal testimony. Growing up in a pagan household I rarely heard about God or Christ. When my mom was saved during my teen years I professed a faith, without having ever understood the Law and Gospel. In 2015 one clip sent by a brother in Christ, I had never met changed everything.
