Tayler LaBellarte is a member of the Orangetheory team and an advocate for previvors who are taking charge of their health and wellness and making tough decisions. LaBellarte's journey with previving began when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer while LaBellarte was in college. This experience motivated LaBellarte to learn as much as she could about breast cancer and its relationship to other cancers. LaBellarte eventually underwent genetic testing and learned that she carried the BRCA2 genetic mutation, which puts her at an increased risk for breast and ovarian cancer. LaBellarte has since become an advocate for genetic testing and reviving by sharing her story and helping others to take control of their own health.

Meet Alexa Curtis, a young founder who has been working to empower women through mentorship and advocacy since she was only twelve years old. In 2011, Alexa launched a blog called “A Life in the Fashion Lane,” which later catapulted into a successful podcast “This is Life Unfiltered” and “Fearless Everyday” on Radio Disney — a partnership she pitched and secured on her own. Not only did Curtis turn her blog into a full-time lifestyle platform for teens (through cold pitching nonetheless), she managed to garner sponsorships with huge brands like British Airways and T-Mobile. But she didn’t stop there. In March of 2020, Alexa founded the Be Fearless Summit and is presently embarking on her next project, Mentor Match, a service that matches young women with inspiring leaders and experts in their fields.

Like many of us, Elissa Goodman began her career working long hours at a stressful job fueled by an excess of caffeine. Then her world was turned upside down. She felt a lump, and, after several specialists visits, a doctor diagnosed Elissa with early-stage Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She was only 32. As a component of her long path of healing, Elissa turned to holistic nutrition and nourishment in concert with medical treatment. That was more than twenty years ago.

Today, Elissa is one of the United States’ most influential holistic nutritionists on a mission to educate and encourage healthy, mindful living and to help others embrace the concept that we are a product of what we eat. As a close friend of The Seam, we were so pleased to sit down with her to further discuss her origin story, her philosophy, and her vision for the future of self-care. Take a listen.
