Welcome to Let’s Talk SIM, brought to you by INACSL. On this podcast, we interview innovators in the field of simulation to discuss new methodologies, the current and future state of the field, learning resources, and inspiring stories. INACSL is dedicated to advancing the science of healthcare simulation, and this podcast is an extension of our passion for simulation. Kicking off season three of Let’s Talk SIM, host Lori Greer, MSN, RN, CHSE meets with Jane Paige, RN, PhD, CNE, CHSE, Professor and Program Director at the Milwaukee School of Nursing to discuss the mechanics of building scenarios. Listen as they touch on the Review Tool for Evaluating the Design and Implementation of Simulations using Best Practices, interprofessional simulation scenarios, and advice for those developing training programs.
In the sixth and final episode of season two of Let’s Talk SIM, host Kyle Johnson, PhD, RN, CHSE, Associate Dean for Simulation & Associate Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing caught up with Dr. Niki Fogg,Director of Simulation Education and Technology and is an Associate Professor at Texas Woman’s University (TWU), to touch on Prebriefing and Debriefing. Dr. Fogg gives an inside look into her dissertation on patient care, using the NCSBN Clinical Judgement Measurement Model, and her work sharing best practices in the clinical education environment.

In the fifth episode of Let’s Talk SIM, hosts Kyle Johnson, PhD, RN, CHSE, Associate Dean for Simulation & Associate Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, and Gamze Ağartıoğlu Kundakçı, PhD(c), RN, RA, researcher at the Faculty of Nursing in Turkey (Türkiye), meet with Davorin Marković, RN, Medical Simulation Specialist and Coordinator of SIM Centre Ljubljana, to discuss the first simulation centre on the primary level in Slovenia. Davorin dives into how simulation training has benefitted healthcare professionals in Slovenia, how the mobile simulation unit complements the centre, and implementing AR, VR, and gamification into the centre.

Season two host Kyle Johnson, PhD, RN, CHSE looks to the past as we envision the future of simulation, and talks with Dr. Kardong-Edgren and Dr. Decker about how they first got their start in simulation, their career journey over the last several decades, and what they think simulationists should focus on in the future. Welcome to Season Two of the Let’s Talk SIM podcast! In our first episode of the season, host Kyle Johnson, PhD, RN, CHSE, Associate Dean for Simulation & Associate Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing addresses the state of Advanced Practice Nursing (APRN) Simulation especially for simulationists pursuing a doctoral degree. Scholar and educator, Dr. Sarah L. Beebe, PhD, CNM, WHNP-BC, CHSE has devoted most of her current research to create hybrid simulated experiences to advance nursing simulation education. Dr. Beebe talks about the current state of healthcare simulation in APRN education, challenges and opportunities with simulation in APRN programs in contrast to pre-licensure programs, and where she foresees simulation making the biggest impact in APRN education.
