It's the Bad Fantasy Genre Fiction Podcast, hosted by John (unpublished author wannabe) and Laura (aspiring author and artist)! If you're leery about putting stock in the opinions of two unpublished authors to comment on these subjects, you probably won't be encouraged by our reading of John's teenaged disastrous attempts at high fantasy.
Wherein we discuss the then-new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI and question whether Squeenix will actually try to go grimdark. We also try, for once, reading an early Bad Fantasy Chapter by a much younger Laura! Many, many lengthy rituals! And I mean LENGTHY rituals.
The year is 2019. The Rise of Skywalker has not yet been released, not even a trailer dropped. And a bunch of fan forum frequenters submitted their best and brightest ideas for what the conclusion to the Skywalker Saga SHOULD look like. We judge them. And once again, it's okay ... John's story treatment is in there as well. (Can you guess which one was his?)
Wherein we discuss Star Wars and the ridiculous fandom war ... and then uncover 13-year-old John's discovery of Grimdark Edginess, which rather than being Dark Dark Edge Edge is in fact hilariously overdone. Have to turn on explicit content warning because of lots of edgy bloooooooood.
Becca joins, on a temporary basis, Lo and John to discuss R. A. Salvatore and his contribution to The Forgotten Realms, and we also continue the inimitable saga of Sanadred and the outcome of the Battle of Alefire in which he also goes ballistic and it's great
In which we discuss FMA, Mistborn, secret crushes on Hagrid, and of course, continue the saga of Sanadred as he just ... kind of ... stumbles upon an evil plot and hatches a staggeringly stupid plan to defend his village.
Originally uploaded at some point in probably 2017, we talk about eucatastrophe and also read the continuing adventures of Sanadred: Swagg decides to not bathe until they decide (days later) to establish basically a neighborhood watch, and some really unintentional romantic tension arises between Kithrus and Sanadred.
