This podcast looks to not only dive into questions and concepts of spirituality, but also how we can apply this wisdom to our lives in a practical way. I draw from things I have read, watched, or listened to, and my own personal experiences and contemplations. God and spirituality is something that we all can have access to and takes many forms, so tag along as we explore and delve into workable wisdom.
Hey friends! Sorry for the delay, I've been doing my best to recover from my injuries! But luckily, just because my hands are bound in casts does not mean that my spirit and mind have suffered the same fate. In this episode I share some of my recent reflections on who we are, and why this always comes from God. Understanding God's primacy in all things can help us order our lives properly, and live the life that is most fulfilling to us. God is with us always, this has been accomplished through the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He's reaching out his hand to us, will we step forward and take it? Or will we turn away? God bless!
Hey friends! In this new episode of the podcast I talk about my recent experience of being in a bicycle accident, and the spiritual aspects that have taken place since then. I talk about how although this has been a difficult time with uncertainty and pain, I feel that I have grown deeper in my faith and actually feel more certain moving into the future. Life and it's circumstances are always going to change, the one thing that will never change is gods undying love for us. Believing in this can save us! God bless.
Sacrifice. Few people want to do it, but it seems that it's the only way we can get on with living. In this episode I explore why sacrifice is important and how it can have a massive impact on the way we both see and live our lives. It is my belief, and specifically the Christian belief, that sacrifice is fundamental to existence and being itself, and that we would not have existence without sacrifice. This is something to not only contemplate but also enact in our lives. God bless!
Hello all! This episode is all about where we are going, and how we can get there. I think the tricky thing about the spiritual life is that we quickly realise that we can't really know where we are going for sure. Life is a mystery and it is unfolding before us in ways that sometimes seem crazy or illogical. I'm beginning to believe that it is less about knowing where we are going and more about trusting that God is taking us to the right place. But to get there, we must follow Him and have ultimate faith. This is a process and it takes time, but it is well worth it. God bless!
Hello friends! This episode is all about something I have found to be extremely useful in my spiritual life; prayer! I think prayer is often misconstrued as asking God to give you what you want. This can diminish the experience and take away the effect that prayer can actually have in our lives. Prayer hopefully becomes not just something we do every morning or evening, but impacts our whole life on a larger scale, and helps turn us into the people that God made us to be!
Hey friends! Suffering is something that I talk about in nearly every episode of this podcast so I figured why not do a whole episode on it! It may not be new and exciting, but I feel it is important for us to come back to suffering as a spiritual teacher over and over. It is something that comes up in life no matter what we do, so learning how to deal with it is important if we are looking to live a better life! It provides us an opportunity to grow in faith as we let the temporary things fall away and find what is eternal. God bless folks!
Hey friends! This episode is all about how the ways of God are often not what we want or expect them to be. At the heart of Christianity is the idea that although we suffer, God loves us. When we begin to believe in the depth of God's love, we can actually begin to perceive our suffering in a totally new way! Instead of understanding our suffering as a wholly negative thing, we begin to see them as opportunities to deepen our faith with God. Our faith is the greatest tool we can use to not only persevere through our struggles, but indeed grow from them!
Hey friends! This episode is all about stepping into the light that God shines. This light is what illuminates everything in the universe, and is the source of all truth. Stepping into this light ourselves can be a very mixed experience! It can make us feel joyous, scared, righteous, or even shameful. Learning to live in this light is part of learning to live with God, which is something we are ultimately trying to do as we grow in faith, hope, and love. Take care!
This episode is all about the importance of giving thanks along the spiritual journey. Recognising God's place in our lives as the giver of all the things we have puts us into our right relationship with Him. It puts things into order. The idea of the gift becomes important when we realise if we truly want to receive the gifts that God has for us, we must also be willing to give them away. It is a process I still don't fully understand, but I am thankful that I get to participate in it nonetheless. God bless!
Hey Friends!
Although I have been posting on a weekly basis for the past while, I have actually not recorded an episode in well over a month! This episode I am posting was recorded this week and is up to date with where I'm at in life. I feel as though I am starting fresh because over the past little while, I feel I have gotten back on the tracks, and my pull toward God feels stronger than ever! I enjoyed recording this one, I hope you enjoy listening!
Hey Friends! In this one I revisit the topic of letting go. This is a concept that I think it essential to the spiritual journey, and it's one that I find myself coming back to time and time again. In this episode I use the analogy of being the passenger of a car or a boat, and letting God take us where we need to go. While this may seem scary at first, we can quickly realise that we can achieve a much greater freedom when we actually let go of our need to control everything. It's a process of faith and trust. Hope you enjoy, take care!
Hello everybody! In this episode I did things a little differently and instead of having a specific idea of what to talk about, I just brought up a topic and let things flow from there! I ended up talking about two topics that I have found to be important in life, and they are both connected. The first is feeling at home in the universe, and the second is understanding who we truly are. When we begin to open our minds and our hearts, we can begin to see the whole universe as our home, and this helps us remember who we are, in the deepest sense. Hope you enjoy listening, take care!
Hey friends, this is an episode that may initially seem like it is not of a spiritual nature at all, but I assure you that this teaching is a great one! Becoming dead to the world is not what it sounds like. It doesn't involve becoming dead inside or feeling nothing, it is merely a method that one can use to approach living in a world that is often throwing stones at us. We have a choice, will we pick up the stone that was thrown at us and throw it back, or will we choose peace? Becoming dead to the world is a way we can choose peace. God bless!
This is an episode that is dedicated to laughter and keeping things light along the spiritual journey! Life can be heavy, and by no means am I denying the reality of suffering and the impact it has on our lives, but the ability to keep a light and joyful attitude can help us maintain that inner freedom that can be so key. Learning to laugh with ourselves and our predicament is something that helps to keep us in check, making sure we are never taking ourselves too seriously. If you're looking for a bit of a cosmic giggle, hopefully you can find it in this episode. Enjoy!
This episode is all about listening, very meta! Listening is an important skill to develop along the path I think. In this episode I talk less about listening to other people, and more about listening to life in general. Everything in life has something to tell us, but we can only hear it if we open our ears and listen! When we don't listen, we can never know what life is asking of us, and so it becomes easy to become self-centred or lost. I hope you enjoy LISTENING to this one ;)
This episode is all about the impersonal nature of enlightenment. I've found on my spiritual journey that the ego can get a boost of power from what we may think of as enlightenment, but in reality it is commonly believed that enlightenment is the ego's greatest disappointment. This process can be difficult to navigate, but for me a key teaching that always comes back into focus is the importance of being in the present moment. When we come to the present, we can begin to see the truth. Enjoy the episode!
Hey folks! This is an episode where I don't talk on a specific topic but instead just reflect on the experience of running the podcast so far. I talk about important things that it has reminded me about, and what that means for my life in general. Even though I have just started this thing, I feel that I have learned lots already, so I'm excited to continue to share it with all of you. Thanks!
Hey folks! This episode came out of a realisation I had a few weeks ago. It has to do with doing what it takes to become our true selves. While some may preach that it requires us to be hard on ourselves and unrelenting in our pursuit of becoming better, I say it actually takes a tremendous amount of compassion and love. Letting go of what's holding us back is actually a grief process, so feeling those emotions can be an important part of the journey. Or at least it has been for me. Hope you enjoy!
Hey folks! In this episode I try and dive into a topic that is a bit heavy. It has to do with the nature of suffering and what that means for our relationship with and understanding of God. When contemplating these topics, I always try to start from a place of love and understanding, and then go from there. This begins to become interesting when we begin to contemplate the nature of suffering and what it truly means to suffer. While some topics in this episode may be heavy, I feel that what lies behind it all is truly a message of hope, and I pray that comes across. Thanks for listening!
In this episode I try to explore what I think is one of the greatest paradoxes that can be found in spirituality; the freedom that comes when we begin to surrender. I try to explain why surrender is not as much of a bad thing as I had previously thought it to be. I believe letting go and acceptance are at the core of what spiritual practices are about, and surrender is a very practical way of applying these ideas. Hope you enjoy!
In this episode I talk about some of my experiences with addiction and how I have come to see them in a different light since embracing the spiritual side of myself. Although there have been tough times throughout my experiences, I have come to find some great lessons within them. I hope you enjoy listening!
In this episode, I try to dive into some of the connections between two seemingly opposite concepts; birth and death. Opening up to the mystery that these two things can bring to us is something that has been important on my spiritual journey. It provides us an opportunity to zoom out and look to see our lives from a new perspective. Hope you enjoy listening, thanks!
In this episode I talk about why I love nature so much and what I have learned from it over the years. Nature is a great starting place for spirituality because it is so accessible! Nature has provided me with a presence that is embracing and loving, and I am extremely thankful for it every day!
In this episode I reflect on what it means to truly love unconditionally. This applies to how we can love others and all of life more unconditionally, and also how we can be loved unconditionally ourselves. As we let go and fall deeper into this unconditional love, we can begin to find a freedom that we had never thought possible.
In this episode I speak a bit on what rests behind the silence. While I feel my words might not always come across, I assure you, they are genuine :) I am still struggling to be able to describe my feelings in a very communicative way! Hope you enjoy :)
This is my first episode! I am very excited to be bringing this to you. In this episode I look to establish what this podcast is and why I am doing it. I go over some of my journey that lead me to starting this podcast, and why I look forward to continuing to upload episodes on a weekly basis.
