We were honored to have as our guests, Rev. Emily Houser and her family, for the Assemblies of God National Women’s Day. Emily was born and raised deep in the Appalachia mountains of Western North Carolina. Her husband, Britt, was also raised in Appalachia from the age of 10. The Housers have a sincere love for people and together they serve the Appalachia region tirelessly with an emphasis on women’s ministries. Emily is a U.S. Missionary Chaplain and the Executive Director of the Smoky Mountain Dream Center.
Part 2 in our Get in the Game series we taught no the fact that we need to get to the Goal line and the only way that we can do that we had to get in the game and never quit. Leave it all on the field. You have to go hard or go home. Whiners never win. There’s no traffic on the extra mile. You must have the skills, the habits and the relationships in place to support you over the long haul. In this message Pastor David teaches some important skills for you want to become all that God wants you to be.
Satan’s # 1 temptation for Christians isn’t immorality, lying, or drug abuse. I think his most common temptation is to try to get you to give up on God. A wise counselor once told me that “isolation is desperation.” When life’s moments feel heavy and tough, don’t sit out, don’t bow out, don’t isolate yourself. Keep moving. Keep driving. Don’t quit.
What are you supposed to do in a desert? Make a way for the Lord. Why? Because he’s coming to meet you there. God is not waiting for you on the other side of your troubles. He is coming to meet you in the middle of your desert experience, and he will infuse his presence into your situation.
We were created for community. The journey of life and faith is often trying, difficult, and painful. Discouragement. Relentless temptation. Debilitating sins. Doubts. Ridicule. Burdensome weaknesses. Heavy burdens. Unanswered questions. Rejection. Little wonder God has given us the family of God and the fellowship of believers. It is an absolutely essential source of strength and guidance.
Pastor David explores individuals in the Bible who had an opportunity to follow Jesus but didn’t. Each week focuses on one person/group of people and explores the reason(s) why they chose not to offer their lives to Christ.
The beginning of a new year is often filled with dreams of personal transformation. We want to eliminate bad habits, exercise more, and set a pace to achieve our goals. “New Year, New You” harnesses these feelings to talk about the most important change a person can make: their faith. Coming to Christ and allowing Him to transform our lives will form the foundation of every other change we need to make.
At Christmas we celebrate that God has come to us in love to save us. This Christmas message proclaims God’s initiative in coming to us in the Christ child. We are encouraged to trust that God isn’t far from broken people or a broken world. The Savior has come for us all, and the Savior is with us all.
