This week on Crash Report we discuss the Tuskegee Syphilis Study. A joint venture of the United States Public Health Service and the CDC, this secretive study sought to exploit the illiteracy, poverty, and promiscuity of 600 black sharecroppers in an effort to learn more about the effects of syphilis.
In the end, the study didn’t teach us all that much, and wound up killing over 100 of its participants. Learn more on this weeks Crash Report.
In the summer of 2007, a US airstrike in New Baghdad left a dozen dead, including two journalists, as well as wounding two children. Footage of this attack would be leaked and posted online to WikiLeaks a few years later.
