It's about time we had some major fun on this podcast! This episode starts off with an unexpected story about a chimpanzee in Jill’s house to open up a discussion about JOY!
Jill shares her experience as a patient with chronic pain. She talks about how frustrating it can be interacting with medical professionals who want to “fix” everything and how you can find joy even in the worst of circumstances.
Joy can be something SO SMALL you probably won’t see it! Slow down and be intentional with how you spend your time, energy, and focus. Learn how to live in the gray area of living with chronic pain alongside of joy AT THE SAME TIME!!! Joy doesn’t have to mean that everything is going your way. It’s a sign of hope and a gentle reminder that this life is worth living while FEELING alive.
“I learned a long time ago on the tilt-a-whirl that it is entirely possible for a human being to laugh and throw up at the same time!”
Continuing our Awareness Month series, Anna does a deep dive on Lyme Disease! She talks about the mechanism of action for the bacterial infection, signs to look for including that famous bullseye rash, co-infections of protozoa and how the detection/treatment differs from Lyme, as well as the psychological and physical therapy implications.
Join Morgan and Anna for the first episode of a series on diagnoses as we discuss what Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is, how it affects people differently, and implications for health care professionals. May is EDS awareness month, so fill your brain with some knowledge and then spread it for the rest of this month! (or the rest of your life. we won't stop you.)
On this episode Anna and Clare FINALLY get to catch up with Morgan who had four major life updates to share!
You don't want to miss the inside scoop on the mind game that is the NPTE and Morgan's specific experience with the physical effects of taking a test of that magnitude!
This week Clare & Anna take a moment to reflect on the past few weeks & share some exciting 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒖𝒑𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔 on their PT journeys!
The past couple of months have been a crazy ride for the members of the adaPTable podcast... Anna is finishing up her last few weeks as a first year, Morgan has graduated & is preparing for the NPTE, & Clare is working on honing her skills & learning new skills each week as a new grad PT.

We all know PT school is crazy enough as is, plus throw in the massive amounts of loans most of us take on and we often find ourselves picking up jobs here and there to at least take care of gas and food. Turns out the two of us have very similar job experience during PT school and have been able to transfer skills learned in PT school to our work life and vice versa. Just don't have 4 jobs at once...can't recommend!
We had fun chatting with our friend, 𝑨𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏, 𝑷𝑻, 𝑫𝑷𝑻 for 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝟏𝟗 of The 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 "Traveling Beyond the Stigma"! Trust us, you won't want to miss this episode!

𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝟏𝟕 is up!!! In this episode, Clare and Morgan sit down to chat about the dreaded comparison game.
👉It is not uncommon for individuals with disabilities & chronic illnesses to have friends or family admit that they 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥/𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘨𝘭𝘦𝘴 because they feel like their troubles are small in comparison to those of the individual with a disability or chronic illness.
👉 It is also not uncommon for individuals with disabilities & chronic illnesses to 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 of the fact that they may not be able to do certain things, may require certain accommodations, etc.
👉 This results in a 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 which can make some conversations awkward or difficult when they don't have to be, especially as a patient-provider.
𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬:
🎇 We each have 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺, don't try to compare your story to someone else's. Embrace your story & support others in theirs.
🎇 We all have a different way of handling the comparison game conversation- 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 & keep moving forward.
🎇 Recognizing & establishing 𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 can be key in the comparison game conversation.
