The Social Butterfly Effect Podcast aims to humanise the creators, creatives, entrepreneurs and humans we interact with online. It will also be a space for individuals without a social presence but have gone through a specific journey to share their experience in hopes of creating awareness and helping others in similar situations. Social Media gives us a one dimensional perspective from people’s timelines and feeds. This podcast aims to facilitate dialogue, encourage critical conversations to inform, educate, entertain, influence and uncover. I am a firm believer in the power of vicariously learning through the lived experiences of others.
Building from 0 to over 360,000 followers across Instagram, TikTok and Youtube, we have Hemali Mistry previously known as Ready to Glow here on the show today. She is an Indian Canadian makeup artist who has taken social media by storm with her creative videos, quirky facial expressions and value rich content. She leverages her platform to explore self confidence, body image, makeup, culture clash, mental health career and the world of social media.
In this episode Hemali explores how she didn't settle in her career, took risks to be able to do what she loves everyday. She also opens up suffering from PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder) how it almost keeps her bedridden for 2 weeks in a month and how she still manages to be consistent with her content and career through it all. Hemali also shares how she went about training herself in editing creative, out of the box content, the process she went through and how she optimises her content for different social platforms. She also dishes out how she got her foot in the door in the industry, how she managed to score opportunities to work with big name brands, got PR opportunities and attend cool events. Last but not least she tells us about a huge pinch me moment she has had in this career of beauty blogging, social media and content creation.
