She invites us to look towards the Lord, and recognize that the life change and vulnerability of college is an opportunity to grow closer to him.

Elijah Baker, a sophomore and member of Ignite team, discusses Mary's identity as it is shown through biblical typology. He explores her title as the New Eve, the New Ark of the Covenant, and The Queenly Mother, and how that ties into her identity and role as our mother. He encourages devotion and prayer, so that we can discover how beautifully her heart reveals and mirrors her son.

Jaella Mac Au, a junior and very involved member of our community at our catholic center, discusses the road to Emmaus, and how the Lord's heart and identity is revealed through it. She discusses how he draws close to us in love, and remains in gentleness until we are ready to receive him.

Flanigen Phillips, a sophomore and active member of our Catholic Center at the University of Georgia, continues a series on the holy family. She discusses Jesus, his sonship to Mary and Joseph, and the insights we can gather by observing him as a son. Additionally, she explores his relationship with Joseph and Mary, and how they created a beautiful and holy family.

Dr. Garry Crete, the founder and practice director of Transfiguration Counseling and Coaching, discusses the field of Internal Family Systems (IFS), and how it applies to our lives. Diving into topics such as addictive behaviors, where they are rooted, and how to cope, Dr. Crete aims to help us combat stress and struggles both interwoven in our subconscious, as well as plaguing us in the day-to-day.

Katie Nay, a junior at the catholic center and future CSA president, discusses St. Joseph, and her experience as encountering him as a father and role model. She explores what it meant for him to be the protector of both Jesus and Mary, and encourages us to open up our hearts to him.

Fr. Michael closes out the retreat with a talk on how to take this content with us. He prepares us for our final mass which follows the talk. After following through the passion, Jesus has risen! So as we prepare to leave retreat, Fr. Michael descriptions how to remain close to Jesus and His Sacred Heart.

Immaculée is a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. She lives on to share her story of peace and reconciliation that she has learned through a faithful prayer life with the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Rosary. She shares her experience through the genocide and how she has come to know the love of Christ and His Sacred Heart.

Meg and Mary Elizabeth are co-coordinators for retreats on the CSA Board. They share their experience praying with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and lay a foundation on how best to enter into spring retreat. Meg shares her consecration story and how the Sacred Heart has been a source of identity for her. Mary Elizabeth shares how to enter into relationship with the Sacred Heart through the lens of suffering as seen in the Passion of Christ, starting with the beginning, the condemning of Jesus by Pilate.

Chris Schoen is a full-time missionary working at Damascus in Columbus, Ohio. In this talk, Chris shares how through the story of Jesus's birth, he realized the importance of obedience and trust for healthy families. He relates this to our own lives, saying there are exciting and disappointing times, and relationships can break without maintaining these key elements that are clearly represented by the Holy Family.

Bernard E. “Ned” Shlesinger III was born December 17, 1960, in Washington, D.C. He went to Virginia Tech and later became a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from active duty in 1990, when he began studies for the priesthood in the Diocese of Raleigh, N.C. He was ordained a priest on June 22, 1996, in Wilmington, N.C. On May 15, 2017, His Holiness, Pope Francis, appointed him auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

Fr. Michael grew up in the Atlanta area and was a cradle Catholic. He attended Mount St. Mary's Seminary and was ordained as a priest 7 years ago for the Archdiocese of Atlanta. He is currently assigned to St. Joseph in Athens, GA.
Paul was born and raised a cradle Catholic in Boston, MA. Paul Is proud to be a Haitian American. He is passionate about Jesus Christ and his Catholic faith. Paul and his wife Anna have been married for over 9 years and have 4 beautiful children. They lived in Haiti for 6 years as a missionary family. Currently Paul and his family live in Georgia where Paul serves as the Director of Missions for Life Teen. Paul has dedicated his life to preaching the gospel, serving the poor, and forming missionary disciples.

Fr. Mike Metz was ordained in 2018 as a priest of the Archdiocese of Atlanta and the Archdiocese for the Military Services. He currently serves as a parochial vicar in Atlanta and a chaplain in the Army Reserves. In his free time Fr. Mike enjoys being smart, funny, charismatic and humble.
