In this St. Patrick’s Day–inspired episode of the Sober Butterfly Podcast, host Nadine reframes the idea of “luck” and explores how sobriety helps you create your own opportunities rather than waiting for them to appear. Instead of relying on randomness—or alcohol-fueled confidence—Nadine shares how clarity, alignment, and presence open the door to the connections, ideas, and moments that can change your life.

Inspired by Les Alfred’s “She’s So Lucky” rebrand and the quote “luck is the residue of design,” Nadine reflects on how removing alcohol allowed her to recognize opportunities she once missed in the fog of drinking. She explains how sobriety helps you move from reactive patterns to intentional living—making you more available for growth, meaningful relationships, and aligned success.

Nadine breaks down practical ways to create your own “luck,” including building trustworthy character (and offering yourself grace), expanding your circle with supportive and growth-minded people, serving others without overextending yourself, and developing daily habits that align with your goals.

She closes the episode with empowering “lucky girl sobriety” affirmations and a reminder that celebrations—St. Patrick’s Day included—can be joyful, meaningful, and memorable without alcohol.

What does a night really cost?

In this solo episode of The Sober Butterfly Podcast, Nadine shares reflections from a recent trip to Dubai that sparked a powerful realization about sobriety. After being mistaken for a sex worker in an elevator the night before Ramadan — when a man asked her “how much for a night” — she began thinking deeply about the hidden cost of her nights when she used to drink compared to the nights she experiences now in sobriety.

Nadine contrasts her calm, grounded response in sobriety with a similar experience from 2020 in Medellín at The Click Clack Hotel, when she was drinking, spiraled emotionally, and was initially denied entry because staff assumed she was a sex worker. Through these parallel moments, she explores identity, self-trust, and how sobriety changes internal reactions to external events.

This episode breaks down:

  • The financial and emotional cost of drinking
  • Hangovers, anxiety, shame, and lost time
  • The hidden price of numbing emotions
  • What sobriety actually costs (vulnerability, discomfort, growth)
  • What sobriety gives back (peace, confidence, clarity, mornings)
  • Writing a breakup letter to alcohol
  • How to reflect on your own relationship with drinking

Nadine also reads an excerpt from a breakup letter to alcohol and invites listeners to consider: How much do your nights cost?

If you are sober curious, alcohol-free, or questioning your relationship with drinking, this episode will resonate deeply.

In this powerful episode of the Sober Butterfly Podcast, host Nadine Mulvina sits down with Kristen, creator of The Alcohol Free Alchemist and founder of Queen City Sober, to share her deeply relatable sobriety journey.

Kristen opens up about how her drinking evolved from social partying to daily coping — influenced by anxiety, grief, motherhood, and the normalization of “mommy wine culture.” After experiencing profound life stressors, including the sudden loss of her grandmother and her husband’s lymphoma diagnosis, alcohol became her way to numb and manage overwhelm.

Now nearly 600 days alcohol-free, Kristen shares how sobriety transformed her relationship with herself, her marriage, her children, and her identity. She also discusses navigating social situations without alcohol, sober intimacy, non-alcoholic alternatives, and building real-life sober community through Queen City Sober in Buffalo, New York.

In this powerful Black History Month episode of The Sober Butterfly Podcast, Nadine explores a truth that isn’t talked about enough in recovery spaces:

Most sobriety spaces don’t look like us.

Nadine weaves together moving throwback clips from past guests of the show to highlight what Black sobriety actually looks like in real life: community, identity, trauma healing, motherhood, grief, faith, entrepreneurship, and generational change.

You’ll hear voices from:

  • Ashley Johnson — founder of Wine Not, on navigating social spaces and professional settings sober as a Black woman
  • Yasmin — on nervous system healing, therapy, and boundaries
  • Symone French— on identity, shame, and unmasking without alcohol
  • Jasmine (Soulfully Sober) — on motherhood and stopping before rock bottom
  • Jasmine Flowers — on trauma, abuse recovery, and rebuilding life through sobriety
  • Faith Hill — on grief, honesty, and self-trust
  • Tiana Heath — on refusing to numb grief with alcohol
  • Tommie Runz — on purpose and generational healing

Together, these stories show that sobriety is not one narrative. It is many. And when Black people get sober, it doesn’t just change one life — it can change entire family trajectories.

This episode addresses:

  • Cultural silence around addiction in Black families
  • The connection between trauma, the nervous system, and alcohol use
  • Why boundaries and therapy are often discovered after sobriety
  • The lack of representation of Black women in the sober-curious and non-alcoholic space
  • Why sobriety can be an act of resistance, awareness, and liberation

If you’ve ever felt alone in your alcohol-free journey, this episode is an invitation to see yourself in sobriety.

In this honest and educational solo episode of The Sober Butterfly Podcast, host Nadine Mulvina explores why Dry January isn’t the same as sobriety—and why that distinction matters for anyone questioning their relationship with alcohol.

Drawing from personal experience and years of conversations within the sober and sober-curious community, Nadine breaks down the two biggest pitfalls of Dry January: the “fuck it” mindset when the challenge feels too hard, and the false reassurance that completing 30 days automatically means alcohol isn’t an issue. She explains how both can keep people stuck in the same drinking patterns long-term.

This episode reframes Dry January as a starting point—not a finish line—and offers practical, compassionate guidance for those attempting Dry January, as well as tools and reminders for people who are already sober and navigating January with clarity and intention.

Whether you’re sober, sober-curious, taking a break, or supporting someone who is, this episode invites you to prioritize honesty, self-trust, and sustainable change over perfection or willpower.

🦋 In This Episode, Nadine Discusses:

  • Why Dry January is not the same as long-term sobriety
  • The difference between a 30-day alcohol break and an identity shift
  • How the “fuck it” mindset can sabotage Dry January attempts
  • Why completing Dry January doesn’t automatically mean alcohol isn’t a problem
  • White-knuckling Dry January vs. white-knuckling sobriety
  • How sobriety removes distortion and builds clarity
  • Practical tips for doing Dry January in a supportive, self-aware way
  • Why willpower alone isn’t a plan
  • How to create replacements instead of just restrictions
  • The importance of having a post-January plan
  • Guidance for sober listeners navigating January
  • Why sobriety isn’t a trend—it’s a lifestyle

🧠 Key Takeaways:

  • You don’t attract change by forcing it—you create it through honesty
  • Dry January can reveal patterns, but reflection is what creates growth
  • Sobriety is about alignment, not deprivation
  • White-knuckling is a signal—not a failure
  • Support, systems, and self-trust matter more than perfection

In this reflective, end-of-year solo episode of The Sober Butterfly Podcast, host Nadine Mulvina invites listeners into the quiet, liminal space between Christmas and New Year’s to explore quantum physics, manifestation, and intentional identity shifts for 2026.

Recorded the day after Christmas, this episode slows things down and reframes manifestation through a grounded, logical lens: connecting quantum physics, nervous system regulation, sobriety, visualization, and embodiment. Nadine explains why manifestation isn’t about asking or wishing, but about becoming the version of yourself who already lives the life you want.

Listeners will learn how sobriety sharpens your energetic signal, why most people are “manifesting wrong,” and how to align with the timeline where your dream life already exists. Nadine also shares a 6-step framework for creating a powerful 2026 vision board—one rooted in identity, habits, regulation, and daily embodiment rather than aesthetics or pressure.

This episode is perfect for anyone who is sober, sober-curious, or intentionally designing their next chapter with clarity, self-trust, and purpose.

🎧 Best enjoyed slowly—on a walk, while cleaning, or resting your nervous system.

🦋 In This Episode, Nadine Covers:

  • Why the days between Christmas and New Year’s are a powerful quantum window
  • How quantum physics explains manifestation and timeline shifts
  • Why reality responds to what you embody, not what you want
  • The role of the nervous system in shaping your lived experience
  • How sobriety removes distortion and accelerates clarity
  • Why “trying” to manifest creates resistance
  • How visualization collapses timelines faster than intention
  • Why identity shifts matter more than goals
  • How to protect your quantum field and move in silence
  • A step-by-step framework for creating a 2026 vision board that actually works
  • How to design a “random Tuesday” in your dream 2026 life
  • Why manifestation starts today, not January 1st

🧠 Key Takeaways:

  • You don’t attract what you want—you attract who you are
  • Manifestation is feedback, not magic
  • Clarity collapses timelines faster than force
  • Sobriety sharpens your energetic signal
  • Identity + repetition = inevitability
  • Small shifts, practiced daily, create quantum leaps

✨ Listener Reflection Prompt:

If your 2026 self were already here, how would she move today?

Titled “Sober, But Still Toxic? A Journey in Progress,” this episode unpacks the not-so-glamorous truth that sobriety alone doesn’t automatically make you emotionally healthy. • Why recovery is not a personality makeover
  • How therapy and inner child work exposed the roots of her behavior
  • The myth of perfection in sobriety
  • Setting real boundaries (without needing a drink to enforce them)

Whether you're sober, sober-curious, or somewhere in between, this episode will speak to the part of you doing the work while still figuring it all out.

Nadine has just gotten back from Berlin so this week's episode is a throwback to a fan favorite episode from season 1 of the podcast: "Strippers are Sober, Too" featuring Regan Riley.

Reagan Reilly is a Las Vegas exotic dancer with over 10 years of sobriety. Reagan is refreshingly honest about her past addictions that almost killed her, life as a Las Vegas stripper, and how she maintains sobriety in the adult entertainment industry.

You’ll laugh, cry, and hopefully walk away with a greater understanding of what it’s like to have a physical and mental dependence. Reagan also sheds light on misconceptions the public has about stripping and why people should stop judging the industry harshly.

In this episode, we explore the power of hypnotherapy in addiction recovery. Our guest, Georgia Foster, is a world renowned hypnotherapist, top selling author, and creator of Life Changing Programs with years of experience in addiction treatment. Georgia shares insights and anecdotes about how hypnosis can be a highly effective tool for overcoming addiction.

One of the key topics we explore is the role of the inner critic in addiction. The inner critic is the voice inside our heads that tells us we're not good enough, smart enough, or strong enough to achieve our goals. For many people struggling with addiction, this inner critic can be a major obstacle to recovery. It can lead to feelings of shame, guilt, and self-doubt, which can in turn drive addictive behaviors.

Georgia explains how hypnotherapy can help people reprogram their inner critic, replacing negative self-talk with positive affirmations and beliefs. By working with the subconscious mind, hypnosis can help people access deeper levels of self-awareness and self-acceptance, which can be crucial for long-term recovery.

We also discuss the importance of finding the right hypnotherapist, someone who is not only highly skilled in hypnosis techniques but also has a deep understanding of addiction and recovery.

Overall, this episode offers valuable insights into the power of hypnotherapy in addiction recovery, as well as practical advice for anyone considering this approach as part of their recovery journey. Whether you're struggling with addiction yourself or supporting a loved one in their recovery, you'll find plenty of inspiration and guidance in this engaging conversation.

Welcome to The Sober Butterfly Podcast! In today's episode, we will explore the four seasons of life.

Life is cyclical, not linear. As human beings, we go through different life phases, each with unique challenges and opportunities. These seasons are often compared to the four seasons of nature: spring, summer, fall, and winter.

  • Season of winter –Preparation
  • Season of spring –Opportunities.
  • Season of summer – Growth and Protection
  • Season of fall – Successes and Failures.

IThe four seasons of life represent a journey of growth, learning, and self-discovery. By understanding and embracing these seasons, we can navigate the challenges and opportunities that come our way and live a fulfilling life. Thank you for listening to The Sober Butterfly Podcast. What does supermodel/actress Cara Delevingne have in common with TSB podcast host Nadine Mulvina? Aside from striking beauty and limitless talent, both ladies had a lifechanging wakeup call around their 30th birthday.

In this episode, Nadine Mulvina recalls her last drunk birthday and the shame she felt after a tribute video she planned to make commemorating her twenties went very wrong. Addiction and shame  keep people sick as many people don’t want to admit, especially publicly, of their struggle with substances. This is why it’s so important to de-stigmatize and de-shame addiction and recovery and Cara does that by using the term ‘healing’ instead of ‘recovery’.

Welcome to this episode of The Sober Butterfly podcast where we'll be discussing the importance of the 3 D's: detox, declutter, and destress for the spring season. As the weather warms up and the days get longer, many of us feel the urge to clean up our homes, but spring cleaning can go beyond just tidying up your living space. In this episode, we'll explore the benefits of detoxing your body, decluttering your mind, and destressing your life this spring.

Segment 1: Detoxing
Spring is the perfect time to give your body a break from the heavy, warming foods of winter and detoxify your system. We'll discuss the benefits of a social media cleanse, cleanses to try and some tips for making the process easier and more enjoyable.

Segment 2: Decluttering
Just as we accumulate physical clutter in our homes, we can also accumulate mental and spiritual clutter that weighs us down. We'll talk about the importance of decluttering your mind and soul, some common sources of mental clutter, and techniques for clearing your mental space to improve focus and productivity.

Segment 3: Destressing
Stress can be a major factor in our overall health and wellbeing, and spring is the perfect time to address it. We'll discuss some simple lifestyle changes that can help reduce stress levels, such as exercise, mindfulness practices, and time management techniques.

Spring is a time of renewal and growth, and by focusing on detoxing, decluttering, and destressing, we can create a solid foundation for a healthy, happy year ahead.

In this episode, we will be discussing some essential tips and information you should know before traveling to Paris. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, this guide will help you make the most of your trip to the City of Light.

Key Points:

  1. French Language: French is the official language of France, and while many Parisians speak English, it's still a good idea to learn some basic phrases before your trip, for example, always greet people with "Bonjour" (Good morning) or "Bonsoir" (Good evening). Learning some French is particularly helpful because a lot of menus at restaurants are in French so I'd hate you for to make a sober social faux par by ordering a cocktail instead of a mocktail.
  2. Drinking Culture: There is a lot of drinking but caveat not so much seeing people drunk.
  3. People Watching as Sport: Not so much a sober thing but a good to know before you go thing. The french love to people watch;
  4. Cultural Etiquette: It's important to be aware of French cultural etiquette and proper dining etiquette. Most likely, you will be presented with a wine list at dinner. Some restaurants have non-alcoholic options but not really an extensive list.
  5. Popular Attractions: Paris is home to many famous landmarks and museums, including the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and Notre-Dame Cathedral. It's important to plan ahead and book tickets in advance to avoid long lines and crowds.

Welcome to our special Valentine's Day episode, where we celebrate love, faith, and sobriety.

In this episode, we have a lighthearted conversation with a Christian couple where one partner has chosen to live their life without alcohol. While this may seem like a serious or restrictive decision, our guests prove that a life of sobriety can be fun, fulfilling, and full of laughter.

Our guests, Ahmad Rashad and Toya, share their personal stories of how Ahmad came to the decision to give up alcohol. They talk about the challenges they faced in a world where drinking is often seen as a social norm, and how their faith played a role in their decision.

Despite the challenges, Ahmad and Toya have found that living without alcohol has opened up a whole new world of possibilities. They have discovered new purpose, found deeper connections with friends and family, and learned to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

We discuss the misconceptions and stereotypes associated with being sober, and Ahmad and Toya challenge these stereotypes by sharing their own experiences of joy and fulfillment without alcohol. They also provide tips and advice for others who may be considering a sober lifestyle.

Throughout the conversation, Ahmad and Toya's love and humor shine through. They share funny anecdotes and playful banter, proving that a life of sobriety can be just as fun and enjoyable as a life with alcohol.

In the end, our guests leave us with a message of hope and encouragement. They remind us that a life of sobriety is not about what you're giving up, but rather what you're gaining. It's about living life to the fullest, with joy, purpose, and a sense of fulfillment that can only come from God.

So join us for a fun and inspiring conversation with Ahmad and Toya and discover the beauty of living life to the fullest without alcohol.

As an added Valentine's day special, host Nadine Mulvina gets powerful advice from this expert married couple of over 19 years in regards to her own dating life and celibacy.

Episode 114 of The Sober Butterfly Podcast "Seasonal Depression & Me: How to Stay Sober with S.A.D." addresses how to combat the dreaded seasonal depression so many of us face as the weather turns colder, the days get shorter, and the social pressures of the holiday season creeps in. An added layer of complexity is factoring in sobriety.

Host Nadine Mulvina of The Sober Butterfly Podcast shares personal anecdotes and tips to staying sober if you experience seasonal depression, also known as Seasonal Affect Depression (SAD). Knowledge is power so identifying triggers and recognizing symptoms can be the key difference between staying sober or relapsing.

Wondering if you have SAD? Signs to look out for according to Mayo Clinic include:
-Feeling listless, sad or down most of the day, nearly every day
-Losing interest in activities you once enjoyed
-Having low energy and feeling sluggish
-Having problems with sleeping too much
-Experiencing carbohydrate cravings, overeating and weight gain
-Having difficulty concentrating
-Feeling hopeless, worthless or guilty
-Having thoughts of not wanting to live

WhoCamille shares an intimate account of her personal history with alcohol. Part 1 of this interview chronologically follows Camille’s story from being sober throughout high school to partying it up in college to toxic party culture throughout her twenties that got her into some legal trouble.

This interview will make you laugh but all jokes aside, there's nothing funny about drinking under the influence or drinking while intoxicated.

We hope you enjoy hearing Camille and I discuss willingness in sobriety, party culture and drinking and driving. Use our truths as a cautionary tale and learn from our mistakes. Too many people are out here ruining their lives and the lives of others because of alchol.

Thank you for watching and be sure to tune in next Tuesday to hear the rest of Camille's story!

Most strip clubs in the United States require a two-drink minimum or hefty bar tab for VIP sessions. So how does one bad ass dancer maintain her sobriety and recovery in an industry revolving around alcohol? That's exactly what I wanted to know...

In this week's episode I sat down with Reagan Reilly, a Las Vegas exotic dancer with over 10 years of sobriety!  Reagan is refreshingly honest about her past addictions that almost killed her, life as a Las Vegas stripper, and how she maintains sobriety in the adult entertainment industry.

You'll laugh, cry, and hopefully walk away with a greater understanding of what it's like to have a physical and mental dependence. Reagan also sheds light on misconceptions the public has about stripping and why people should stop judging the industry harshly.

As always, thanks for listening! Please like, comment, and share this podcast!

This week’s episode is all about harm reduction. There's a lot of stigma and misinformation surrounding harm reduction, in and outside of recovery spaces. In an effort to understand more about what harm reduction is, and is not, I sat down with an expert in harm reduction. Dr. Delores Blackwell is a multijurisdictional licensed clinical social worker, master addiction counselor, certified trauma professional and a certified compassion fatigue professional. She has held numerous administrative and clinical positions within both the addictions and mental health disciplines. She is currently the Director of OASAS Services at Housing Works. She is also an adjunct professor at both Touro College and at Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work where she teaches advanced clinical courses and the practice lab.

If you are suffering with addiction, you do not have to suffer in silence or alone.

Moderate drinking seemed like a mythical place I referenced when lying to my physician about the average number of alcoholic beverages I consumed on a weekly basis. But alas, these unicorns apparently exist and take the form of two women I love and respect, my aunt and sister-cousin.

This week's episode dives into the headspace of "normal" social drinkers, or 'normies' as I like to call them. What is it like to be able to drink relatively responsibly? Tune in to hear us recount cringe-worthy, painful, funny, drunken memories, evaluate our relationship with alcohol, and share lessons learned along the way. Enjoy!

In addiction recovery, many people feel they have lost their identity and may not know how to navigate a social life without being the weird sober person in the corner.

In this  week's episode, host Nadine Mulvina breaks down how to have fun in sobriety, rediscover lost parts of yourself, and be sober and social.

July is  Minority Mental Health Awareness Month which acknowledges the disparity in access to healthcare resources that people of color and minority groups face. See additional materials below:

Faith and I have so much in common: we both attended the illustrious Florida A&M University, on the highest of Seven Hills; both only children that lost our fathers at a young age; hell, we even dated the same guy not at the same time; but perhaps the greatest bond that connects us today is our journey to sobriety.

Join Faith and I as we reminisce on our time spent in college and discuss toxic drinking culture. We also talk sobriety, fitness, and forging your own path.
