Mattias holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wollongong, Australia. Since joining Telia in 1996, he has worked in a number of senior roles within Arelion and most recently as CTO. Since July 2016 he has been Arelion’s Chief Evangelist. Mattias’ passion isn’t limited to networks: He has played golf professionally and competed on a national level in football and innebandy. About the Guest:LinkedIn Bio: “As a CEO, Board Member, and angel investor focused on advancing women’s careers, I am passionate about helping diverse professionals increase their wealth and influence across the globe. There is no bigger opportunity for professional women than in the technology space, where we are underrepresented at all levels. Recognizing this, I co-founded Women Who Code (WWCode), an international 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers in 2013. Since that time, the organization has orchestrated thousands of free events, attracted a quarter-million members, and expanded to 134 countries.Over the course of my career, I was a business leader for a variety of companies (e.g. Puma) – and with that, I have learned to value results over well-intentioned activity. Fortunately, WWCode has produced both measurable and anecdotal successes. A member in Mexico City, for example, increased her salary 200%, while another member from Toronto accelerated her technology career two levels within a year. There is also now evidence that being affiliated with WWCode advantages women seeking interviews, such as a member who was told by SpaceX that one of the reasons they wanted to speak with her was because of her relationship with WWCode. While the lack of women in technology is a top-of-mind discussion in the U.S., it is a global issue. As someone who has EU citizenship and worked/lived in over 80 countries, I have seen this first-hand. I am proud to say that WWCode has a global reach and is expanding every day to give diverse women the skills and community we need to grow our impact in tech.”IT Visionaries is brought to you by Salesforce. The increasing complexity of software systems has made it challenging for service providers to maximize efficiency and reduce technical debt. Marcin Kurc, the Co-founder and CEO of Nobl9, claims that these companies can find help in the burgeoning market of SLOs (service-level objectives). Tune in to hear the software innovator explain why SLOs are saving service providers precious resources and helping them maintain customer satisfaction.
Definitions:
five 9s: “The five-9s term indicates how many ‘9’s there are in the uptime calculation. For example, saying something is up (and available) 99.99% of the time would be four nines. Five nines mean something is available 99.999% of the time or it only has downtime of 5.26 minutes per year.” (404 Tech Support article by Jason, 05/10/2012)
SLA (service-level agreement): “A service-level agreement (SLA) defines the level of service you expect from a vendor, laying out the metrics by which service is measured, as well as remedies or penalties should agreed-on service levels not be achieved. It is a critical component of any technology vendor contract.” (CIO Article by Stephanie Overby and Lynn Greiner and Lauren Gibbons Paul, 07/05/17)
SLO (service-level objective): “Within service-level agreements (SLAs), SLOs are the objectives that must be achieved — for each service activity, function and process — to provide the best opportunity for service recipient success.” (Gartner glossary)
SRE (site reliability engineering): “SRE leverages operations data and software engineering to automate IT operations tasks, and to accelerate software delivery while minimizing IT risk.” (IBM Cloud Education, 11/12/20)

About the Guest:
BIO: Bio from LinkedIn: “As a passionate believer in innovation, I’ve dedicated my career to shifting the surveillance industry from traditional analog closed-circuit television to network video through my work. In that relatively short timeframe since the first network camera, technology has caused a profound shift in the way the market operates, and the value we can provide to our customers. An expanding internet and the adoption of cloud-based solutions have allowed technology to permeate every facet of our lives, creating a growing opportunity for both security and business applications.
A 20-year Axis Communications veteran, I have undertaken various roles in both Sweden and the United States. I am currently the vice president of the Americas, overseeing the company’s operations in North and South America and serving on the global management team.
As an active participant in and promoter of industry associations, I think it’s important to continue to push the industry to innovate and share best practices with our partners and end users. In 2016, I was honored to receive the prestigious George R. Lippert Memorial Award, which is presented to individuals for their long-term service to SIA and the security industry, the impact of their efforts on behalf of SIA and the industry, as well as their integrity, leadership, and diplomacy in industry dealings. I was also inducted into the Security Hall of Fame in 2017.
I am also the author of the book, “Intelligent Network Video,” published by CRC Press, which is now available in its second edition. It is a comprehensive reference for anyone involved in developing, implementing, and maintaining the growing complex technological landscape of surveillance systems. The book is currently being used for training from several industry associations.
I received a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Lund Institute of Technology, as well as postgraduate studies in economics.”
