This Sunday we’ll look at Elijah and the widow of Zarephath and explore how even our anger and questions for God can become the very doorway into deeper faith and unexpected provision.
We often approach Scripture like an encyclopedia—reading isolated verses and disconnected stories—instead of the unified narrative Jesus himself said points to him. This Sunday, we'll step back to see that bigger story, tracing the Bible's recurring patterns and themes from Genesis to Jesus. Along the way, we'll discover that Scripture is meant to be read as communal literature that shapes us into life-giving people, fostering unity and hope as we join God in the renewal of his good world.
It is always helpful to know you roots. This sermon explores the history and values of the Vineyard Movement.
How do we decide what is good? The answer to that question affects everything in our lives.
This sermon examines Psalm 22 as a biblical framework for honest lament, offering believers permission to bring their raw pain and questions before God during seasons of perceived silence. By connecting David's cry to Jesus' experience on the cross, the message helps move the despair of feeling forsaken into an enduring song of hope and global praise for all the nations.
The better that you know a person, the deeper a relationship you can have with them. Lord you have searched me and know me.KEYWORDS: knowledge, relationships, lost, search
We are made in the image of God, and this changes everything about the way we understand ourselves and the way we see others.
God is our Creator and our maker. And in His great intelligence, He designed us to thrive & flourish. And honoring the Sabbath, working six days a week and taking one day to stop, rest & worship is part of His design. The Sabbath is a gift - a gift we are commanded to enjoy.
We tend to measure success and ministry by visible, quantifiable metrics ("scoreboard mentality" or "empire logic"), but this preoccupation distracts from the true, hidden nature of God's work. The kingdom of God is advancing through "seed logic"—small, faithful acts planted in the dark that God sovereignly multiplies and transforms into the expansive kingdom.
The Kingdom of Heaven is a treasure to be discovered. Whether you're searching or simply happen upon it, it is worth giving everything to obtain it because Jesus gave everything for us.
We have been given an invitation to God's great banquet. Have we accepted or have we made excuses? In the same moment, we have the invitation in hand to give to others. Who are we giving those invitations to?
Moms were called to give life... And so is everyone else! God gave life by speaking life, and He called us to do the same. This means that our words matter. What we say and how we speak has the power to hurt or heal, spread fear or faith, bring death or life.
We can glitch from life's detours, closed doors, and hurting ourselves, and yet God has been using people with those types of struggles for thousands of years.
Life wrecks us. We bounce back. But, sometimes we bounce back, and it doesn't stick. What does it mean when we still feel lost after we've been rescued?
When a vehicle is 'totaled' it's given a salvage title, and can never be given a clean title again. What happens to us when we get busted up beyond restoration?
It can be a struggle to navigate the mystery and the abstraction of prayer--but power is undeniable! We'll look at a beautiful image from scripture to help us begin to grasp just how powerful it is.
Reading the Bible can sometimes feel like trying to assemble a giant jigsaw puzzle afterthe picture on the box has been lost. Most of the pieces are (probably?!) still there, but we are often left holding fragments without a clear sense of how they fit together. This Sunday, we’ll step back and try to rediscover the “picture on the box”— the grand story of Scripture that gives meaning to the individual stories and helps us see how all the pieces were always meant to fit together.
This sermon relies heavily on a visual demonstration. You can watch the Sunday livestream here.
If our allegiance is to the Kingdom of God, can we still have strong political views? Can we support a political party if we agree with some, but not all of it's platform? What happens when a political policy collides with Kingdom values?
What if the difference between God's Kingdom and every other kingdom is even bigger than we imagined?
Your current location and relationships are not accidental but are a divine assignment to practice the "incarnational" love of Jesus. Drawing on the example of early Christian martyrs and the concept of the oikos (relational ecosystem), we are challenged to stop looking for a "shinier" life elsewhere and instead transform our own neighborhoods and workplaces through intentional, embodied presence.
Our Missions Pastor, Josh Armstrong, brings a message from the book of Jonah. Jonah is one of the stranger stories in the Bible, and it gives us a stark reminder of God's heart for the human race.
If our cisterns are full, and we're sustained by the well, then maybe it's time to go on a quest for a spring!
Cisterns are a great way to store water, but a well is a way to access LIVING WATER! Let's talk about how.
Cisterns were essential infrastructure in ancient Israel. Turns our they're essential for us, too.
In the Old Testament the command is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul and strength. When Jesus repeated it he said: Love the Lord with all your heart, MIND, soul and strength. Why did he change it?
Christmas is all about God giving us the greatest gift of all - the GIFT of His love. But like all gifts, this gift has to be received. However, rather than receiving His love, we often run from it which is why we often wonder why we still haven't found what we are looking for.
We often think of peace as an absence of trouble…but Jesus showed us that true peace is His presence with us in the midst of our troubles. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
For Christians, biblical hope isn't just an optimistic longing for the future...it is a person. We are not left to fend for ourselves in this life.
Q&R (Question and Response): Responding to questions submitted in our study of 1 Thessalonians with Joey Bruno and Anna Kitko.
Our text forbids us to (1) scoff at prophecies or (2) fail to test them. We MUST embrace and test. But how? It's tricky. We're going to talk about it directly, and just say the quiet part out loud!
We WILL NOT know the day of Jesus' return. Period. Really! So, how do we manage that unknown? And all the other unknowns for that matter?
Work can be a place of dread, or a place of anticipation. What if the Holy Spirit allowed us to see our vocation in a whole new light?
Should we be expecting a rapture? Is the rapture theory new or old? Do all Christians expect a rapture? Is it a test of orthodoxy, or something less than that?
As it turns out, "hardly working" is actually a tougher path than "working hard." Faithful, diligent work isn't just about paying bills; it's about stepping into something core to our humanity, and contributing to something larger than ourselves.
A candid, but not crude, message on sex. The warnings are real, but so is the healing and forgiveness.
Paul gave the early church his whole heart without losing his head--and that's the key to why he had more influence than almost anyone who ever lived. While people all around us are panicking and catastrophizing, can we do the same? Can we love without reservation, while holding on to our principles, values and best thinking?
In telling the Thessalonians why he can be trusted, Paul gives us an ideal set of tests for who we should trust in our lives (and how we can be trustworthy ourselves).
In this intro to 1 Thessalonians we'll see why so many people were upset about this tiny new church, and how's Paul's encouragement to them might be just want we need to hear, too.
We pray lots for God's protection. How does God protect His people and what does His protection truly mean for us?
Our mental well-being can vary widely from day to day and from person to person. In this message we'll explore a biblical anchor. Not a quick-fix or a simplistic bandaid for a bad day, but a divine resource that will help ground us no matter what the moment holds.
A message about the joy of tending a garden (even for people who hate tending gardens).
How studying Scripture can be transformational, even if you're not close to being a bible nerd!
Ezekiel 47 describes a vision of water flowing from the temple of God, which begins small but grows into a mighty river bringing life to whatever it touches. It is an illustration of a Spirit-led life, an invitation to join God in His work and deepen our walk, and a beautiful example of how God restores, renews, and heals.
A message about how Jesus' counter-intuitive approach to conflict redefines 'winning' and actually makes it possible.
An important message about loving people well without drowning in the emotional undertow.
True life—the kind that builds, multiplies, and sustains—doesn’t come from taking what seems good in our own eyes, but from trusting the God who gives life generously and abundantly. In a world of competing voices and scarcity, the real question is whether we will use our power to preserve our own lives by taking life that isn’t ours, or wait for God to give more of what He’s already given—using the life we have to lift up and preserve those whose lives are failing: the weak, the poor, the vulnerable, and the oppressed—rather than securing our own life at their expense.
Anyone who truly knows Jesus wants everyone to truly knowJesus. So how do we help people know Jesus? We live our lives like onebig giant Show & Tell.
A candid look at what it means to honor one another, tohonor leaders, and how this idea can either be incredibly helpful orharmful to the body of Christ.
A message about the most stubborn, resilient sin and it's subtle high-powered antidote.
Beuchner wrote, "You don't just live in a world, a world lives in you." Our minds are vast unregulated space. What happens in there matters. But how much?
If we don't have to be religious superheroes, then why do so many bible characters seem like superheroes? Aren't we supposed to be like them?
Giving and Generosity are spiritual practices taughtconsistently throughout the entire Bible as a way to worship, thank, acknowledge and trust God.
A sermon about sound boards, regulating emotions, honest people who lie to themselves, and how unfiltered prayers might just save the day.
During Palm Sunday on the church calendar, we celebratethe inauguration of an upside-down kingdom that Jesus initiated onearth. But what does that mean for the subjects of the King?
A sermon about dimmer switches, skipping step 1, and asuper simple practice that has the power to transform our lives.

A sermon about how a frequently read book of the bible and and oft-neglected book of the bible are designed work together, what a sumo baby can teach you about being a better friend, and how the bible implores us to have some fun.
Some burdens have to be carried, and some have to set down. How can we tell the difference?
We all want the transcendent peace of God, but we can't think or will our way to it. So how do we get there?
How can we understand God's Love? By looking to His Son, Jesus, who is the embodiment of that love.
We've asked "what is the kingdom of God?" Next, let's ask a trickier one: "When is the kingdom of God?"
Through a certain set of lenses, Jesus taught exclusively about one thing. Many Christians couldn't tell you what it is, or explain it. Let's work on that!
Work is not a curse… but it has been cursed. How do we find joy and meaning in our vocation with all these pesky thorns and thistles?
In this message I’ll be contrasting the actions of the youngest son and the jealousy of oldest son, while highlighting the loving response of the father to each of his sons to ultimately show that the Father’s love toward us is greater than our rebellion against him.
Even after we are saved, our choices in this life will impact our eternity. We want to know that our salvation is real, our motives are true, and we are fueled by gratitude instead of fear. A simple image from scripture reveals how.
Now we know what fasting is... but, why? Why engage in such a challenging spiritual practice, if it's not even mandatory?
What if something didn't sound like fun at all, but it was a spiritual turbo button? Would you be interested?
Grace can mean so many things, but what are the practical implications of biblical grace for our lives?
Grace can mean so many things, but what are the practical implications of biblical grace for our lives?
Most of us us are "doing stuff for Jesus"-- which is great! But why? Let's get to the bottom of what's fueling us. It makes all the difference!
Happy Birthday, Vineyard! A sermon about how God is in control... but maybe we are too (at least a little)!
Every day we are living in the middle of a great spiritual battle between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Darkness. God has enlisted us, tasked us and equips us to engage in this battle because He has chosen to fight not just FOR us, but WITH us and THROUGH us.
Jesus radically redefined what family looked like in God's Kingdom and established a precedent for the early church and all future generations to follow.
The church is a school, but it's not centered around classrooms, or lectures... and there are no stupid questions. Let's consider what enrollment in the school of Jesus looks like.
John Wimber said the church must be a hospital, a school, a family and an army. This week we consider the church as a hospital--why it's so close to the heart of Jesus, and why it's a value we can easily lose sight of.
In this Trellis episode, Aaron and Jon Sweet go in-depth about Scripture, but first we hear from Sharon McCarter, Josh Armstrong, and Natasha Warren.
In our instant gratification society, we must remember that much of our spiritual growth takes place over a period of time. Hebrews 12 speaks of us enduring a race until the end.

In this episode, Aaron interviews special guest, Christal Bailey. Besides being an incredible speaker and author, Christal is also Aaron's sister, so you don't want to miss their discussion on prayer and some personal stories.

Jesus invited his disciples (and each of us), “Come, follow me.” He later asked, “Who do you say that I am?” Our responses mean everything.
Each week we ask God to make our feet Valiant & Steady. Who doesn’t want that? Let’s think through how we can shift that from a great aspiration, to present a reality!
Waiting is never fun … especially when we have to wait on God. However, there is a purpose for the waiting and often what God does in us while we wait is as important as what it is we're waiting for.

Do you ever feel like you’re using God? Do you ever feel like he’s using you? It’s very common. Understanding our PARTNERSHIP with God eliminates both.

Paul writes to us that we have two paths we can choose to walk in life - a path that leads to the desires of the flesh, or the path where we "walk by the Spirit". If we choose to walk by the Spirit, we then interact with others in a way that reveals the fullness of Jesus, the fruit of the Spirit.
