In this episode, we’re going to cover two exercises that are useful to help us learn how to redirect and reframe negative self-talk and strategies to dispute negative thinking.

Changing...Self-Talk

The first exercise we practice getting into the habit of countering your negative thoughts with affirmations and how to help others do the same.

60 Second DistractionBrief distractions are an excellent way to gain a sense of calm and feel more grounded. In this exercise, we'll discuss different helpful distraction practices and end with the box breathing technique.

In this episode, we’re going to cover two exercises that are useful to help us develop a foundation for positive thinking habits and learn new ways to foster strong and positive relationships to work together.

Gratitude

The first exercise is centred around gratitude – the quality of being grateful and readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

Purposeful PraiseIn the second exercise, we talk about the difference between good and bad praise and the importance of being purposeful when delivering praise to others.

Welcome to the Thriving in a Complex World podcast series!

Over the following three episodes, we’re going to cover some skills that are helpful when coping with difficult situations, developing positive thinking habits, fostering strong and supportive relationships and re-directing negative self-talk to become more resilient, confident and hopeful. Each session is based on socially contagious evidence-based practices that are currently being used by over 1,100 university students.
