Blockchain, however, is not only transforming the financial system - it can be used to create exponential social & environmental impact.
In this episode, I speak with David Davies, the founder and CEO of Agunity. David has spent over 30-years in technology in senior management roles at global investment banks and has been involved in several successful FinTech, SaaS, and mobile start-ups.
Agunity is a blockchain-based mobile app designed to enable small farmers of developing countries to automate agricultural processes, sell harvests and buy supplies efficiently.
They supply customised smartphones as a technological ecosystem which provide the people living and working within remote food supply chains with practical, accessible tools to connect, establish effective lines of communication and ensure an ethical, accountable means of trade.
In 2021, the AgUnity team also created AgriUT Foundation as an independent charitable entity to complement the AgUnity smartphone platform for smallholder farmers.
Integrating values with financial choices has been practiced throughout history. In fact, the roots of the ethical investing movement today can be traced back to Biblical times within the Jewish & Islamic traditions.
Within the Islamic tradition, in particular, there is a set of principles called Sharia law which governs various aspects of day-to-day living including finances and investments.
Ultimately, Sharia finance law is centred around the concepts of social justice, ethics, and using finances to help build communities.
Haven Wealth have recently launched their Absolute Return Fund which has been built using Sharia principles. I chat with Nick Heuzenroeder, the Managing Director of Haven Wealth to further explore this fund’s unique approach.
For generations, indigenous wisdom has been passed down from the Elders who say, "If you don't move with the land, the land will move you!"
This wisdom recognizes that we are all interconnected - that a change in one thing will result in a change to the whole!
In fact, we find ourselves at a crucial point in our evolution on this planet where we have an opportunity to rethink, redefine and renew our relationship to the earth, sky & water, to business & money and to our family & community.
As an indigenous person, Tyson Yunkaporta looks at global systems from a unique perspective, one that is spiritually and physically tied to the earth around us. He yarns with people, looking for ways to connect images and stories with place and relationship to create a coherent world view and put this together into a book called Sand Talk: How Indigenous Thinking can Save the World.
In this episode I explore a wide range of topics, including welcome to country, family economics, property, community banking, the sharing economy, impact investing and how indigenous thinking needs to be at the very root of everything we do!

A small but growing group of investment funds have clearly understood the science, the benefits of reducing emissions and the risks of inaction. Michael Van Niekerk and the team at Inspire Impact, however, have realised that reducing their emissions to zero is not enough, and doing so alone is insufficient to tackle the climate crisis. For this reason, they are committing to be “climate positive”
Becoming climate-positive might seem like just a neat little phrase, but it's where the most significant impact is happening. It’s about going beyond just reducing carbon emissions, to remove more greenhouse gases from the atmosphere than is emitted!
It's no longer OK to be just carbon neutral. We now have to think regeneratively!
So, how are they doing this?
Well, tune in to find out.
Michael is the Chief Impact Officer of Inspire Impact and has over 30 years experience with senior executive teams of large corporates on their sustainability strategy, corporate finance and asset management.
Over the last couple of years investors are increasingly recognizing the risks and opportunities posed by climate change. However, it has typically been difficult for them to know the extent to which a portfolio is exposed to carbon risk.
In fact, a recent survey showed 45% of participants said they want to reduce their carbon footprint - Yet, up to 76% have no idea of where their carbon emissions come from!
This, in turn, has led to an increase in the number of investment funds aiming to track & reduce the carbon emissions in their portfolio's. The question is - what's the best and most effective way to do this?
In this webinar I'll be speaking with William Wu, former Portfolio Manager of Melior IM & Perennial Better Future. as we explore his insights around tracking and measuring carbon emissions in a portfolio
We are in evolutionary times where our relationship to Self, governments, corporations and MONEY are being redefined and reconfigured.
Digital currencies are shaking up organizations and markets around the world, sparking the promise of a decentralised economy. At the foundation of the allure of cryptocurrencies is blockchain technology.

In this episode, I speak with Lisa Wade, the Director of Digital Innovation & Sustainability at NAB. Lisa has over 20 years of experience in the finance industry including co-founding Australia's first Clean Energy Equity Fund in 2007. Lisa shares game-changing insights how the blockchain can be used to transform the impact investment industry.
As climate change continues to affect weather patterns, water will increasingly become an important asset that needs to be well managed.
The concept of investing in water is well established in Australia, where water rights have been unbundled from land and considered to be separate property rights. Water rights are freely traded in an open market that has been progressively established with the dual objectives of economic efficiency of water use and environmental sustainability.
Water quality is also an important issue that needs to be considered. The UN has identified that we need to improve the way we manage wastewater. A more circular and therefore more sustainable economy requires us to value wastewater for its potential, rather than discard or ignore it. More than just an alternative source of water, safe wastewater management could help protect our ecosystems and give us energy, nutrients and other recoverable materials.
Join us as we explore the different ways it is possible to invest in water to generate positive impact as well as competitive financial returns
According to various research, investments in women have a ripple effect into the world around them. Women’s economic participation and their ownership and control of productive assets speeds up development, helps overcome poverty, reduces inequalities and improves children’s nutrition, health, and school attendance. Women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. All of this ultimately has a positive flow on effect for the environment.

Wellbeing has become measurable, opening the door to an entirely new scenario of Wellbeing-as-a-Service (WaaS) where part of the Wellness and Healthcare industries are merging into a new trillion-dollar market, the Well-Tech industry.
WellTech has been surging with many apps and companies over the last decade. Investment activities have followed in suit with over $2.2 Billions in investments in the 97 modern wellness startups identified as of March 2019. This is following a growing $4.2 Trillion Wellness business with a desire to merge with the healthcare industry in a new market.
In this episode, I'll be speaking with Troy Haines who is the founder of I Am Connected, global mentor for Transformative Technology Academy and heads up Transformative Technologies Australasia which is part of a global movement to support and inspire entrepreneurs and innovators to develop technologies that develop our wellbeing, optimise mental health, enhance human performance on the way to realising our ultimate potential.
Did you know that Christmas is one of the most costly times of year on the planet?
Here, in Australia, we are now collectively spending around $16 Billion/yr on gifts, yet we end up receiving approx 20 million unwanted gifts - which generates 125,000 tonnes of plastic packaging!
I thought it would be topical to explore what's happening in Australia's Circular Economy. Recently, the Australian Government invested $190 million into a Recycling Modernisation Fund with the aim of turbo-charging Australia’s waste and recycling capacity. With this, more than 10,000 jobs will be created and over 10 million tonnes of waste diverted from landfill to the making of useful products.
In this episode of People Planet Prosperity, I catch up with Yasmin Grigaliunas, an impact entrepreneur and a circular economy pioneer in Australia, who is on a mission to provide a platform of positive impact for people, planet and profit for purpose on a global level.
Did you know that over 2000 young people enter nursing homes every year? And there are currently around 16,000 people in accommodation that is inappropriate for them, because it doesn’t meet their needs, they are isolated from the community, and they really have no choice.
SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) is a NDIS introduced funding stream to build new, accessible and affordable housing for Australians living with a disability.
In order to encourage private investment the government has established a set of specific rental payments they will cover which can range from 10% - 18% ROI for the investor.

Did you know that modern agriculture is a massive contributor to climate change?
In fact, the European Union's Scientific Advice Mechanism has estimated that the food system as a whole contributes approximately 37% of total greenhouse gas emissions!
In our next webinar, I speak with Louisa Kiely, who will share the science and methodologies behind Carbon Farming - how it can reduce emissions in production processes, while also increasing production and sequestering carbon in the landscape.
Louisa will further explain how Carbon Farming is also offering a unique opportunity for investors to decarbonize their portfolio while generating financial returns
