How many of us need to hear the saying that "mistakes show that you are trying?" I spent so much of my life reacting out of frustration, rather than taking the time to reflect on the things that was causing me to be frustrated. Frustration is an emotion that comes from being blocked from achieving an intended goal. The thing that hindered be from accomplishing my intended goals was my mindset. How I perceived myself, and my situation. Forgive is to stop feeling angry or resentful toward (someone) for an offense, flaw, or mistake. I have been holding onto resentment for years and TODAY was the day I decided that I was going to release this negative energy. In order for me to walk in my purpose I had to face the obstacles and trauma I have experienced to be the person I am today.
CAPRD stands for Child affected by Parental Distress. Currently I am 30 years old, and clearly by my age I am not considered to be a child. But the psychological effects of growing up in a dysfunctional and unstable emotional environment has left a lasting impact on my life. I had to learn to dissociate myself from my parents toxic relationship and learn to form my own with the proper techniques I learned from therapy, and other healthy relationships.
It takes a lot of effort and tenacity to overcome challenges. Some of my failures were my biggest set up for change. I had to learn to walk in my own path and accept myself. Also, I had to learn to overcome repressed memories and emotions by learning how to process them approximately and particularly.
Disappointment is inevitable, but it is how we handle disappointments that determines what kind of life we will have. We all have an ingrained way of approaching life or certain instincts that we rely on under stress. My coping mechanisms were negative and defensive towards myself and those around me. I am learning to restructure those defense and coping mechanism so I can live a prosper and joyful life even when I am faced with obstacles and disappointment.
In order for me to have the change I wanted to see in my life, I had to change my perspective on life. Especially how I viewed myself, family, friends, career, and so on. Transformation isn't the easiest thing, but just like learning how to do anything, if you take the time to practice you to can transform into the person you were destine to be.
Fear is an unpleasant feeling triggered by the perception of danger, real or imagined. For years I have lived in fear from actual danger, as well as imagined danger. The anxiety centered around fear caused me not to show up as my true self. One of the many fears I had to overcome was fear of abandonment. On this self-discovery journey I am trying to get back to that little girl that was fearless, and courageous before I was inflicted by trauma, experiences, and people.
Generational curses or patterns are habits or behaviors has been passed from one generation to another. These patterns are old belief systems that are no longer conducive for growth. Healing a visible wound is easy but trying to heal a wound that can be seen with the naked eye takes patience, and compassion. There are many generational patterns that has haunted members in my family for decades. I have decided to do the deep diving I need to uncover those patterns in order to upbring future generations in a healthy and productive manner.
Embarking on a journey of healing my inner child took love, compassion, and acceptance. Love for the healing process because it brings peace. Compassion for myself. There were past events that were out of my control. By extending love and compassion to myself I was able to find the inner peace I needed to move forward in life.
