In this episode of the Highlight Real, I discuss how the limits that you have in your head... may only be coming from you. There is something you can do about that though. Put action forth and SHOW UP! Once you consistently take action toward that goal you say you have, you may truly start to see progress. It is definitely scary at first. At the same time, the more you do it the more comfortable you may become! None of this is possible though if you don't take action and show up in the first place. I give examples of how things could have deterred me from trying to attain my goals, but I did not let those things stop me, and why that should not stop me either. Reflection is important. In this week's episode, I take the time to reflect on how I've grown over the year that I've lived in Columbus, Ohio. I take the time to detail what some of those trials and tribulations were and some of the valuable lessons I've learned along the way. While things haven't always been easy, this past year has definitely been a worthwhile journey that I feel was necessary for me to progress as a person. In this episode I discuss how working with others can lead you to be inspired! Recently there have been some times when I have not been as motivated to work or create. As soon as I get to work with others and collaborate on something I care about - whether that be sharing ideas, brainstorming, talking out loud, etc. - I have realized that I tend to come out of these conversations and collaborations feeling more inspired! I think this can definitely be used as a cheat code when you are in low spirits especially when it comes to creating. I discuss how and why these collaborations have led me to feel more inspired. As the old African proverb goes, "If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together." Collaboration leads to inspiration and enables you to go further!

In this episode, I take the time to provide some brief background history on house music and what it may mean for music going forward. With heavyweight artists like Drake dropping his recent Honestly, Nevermind album and Beyonce announcing her upcoming Renaissance album with a new single Break My Soul, a lot of music in America may become much more upbeat again. I think this is an interesting topic to discuss and will be an interesting topic to monitor going forward. I felt that providing some history to add context to this discussion would be important as the conversation moves forward. Did you know the history of house music? I wanted to take this episode to highlight that we made it to 10 episodes! It may not seem like much but that's an accomplishment! Meanwhile, I've been able to notice that chasing your dreams and goals is not easy! With this episode, I want to provide a quick but encouraging message about why you should not give up on yourself or your dreams. Life isn't easy. If you want something worthwhile, it won't be easy getting there. In situations like these, you have to show some grit and make sure that you do not quit! There are people that are waiting on you. There are people that NEED you! When you give up, you are also choosing to let down those that care for you and love you dearly. There are also people waiting for you to give up, prove them wrong! We all need encouragement sometimes and this episode is here to encourage you! Show GRIT, but DON'T QUIT!!

It’s important to do so and take a break when you need to because social media can definitely weigh you down and drain your energy! In this episode, I discuss the newness and feelings that can be associated with graduation season. This is a season that captivates many with the feelings of freshness and renewal - and rightfully so. As I reflect on these feelings a year removed from my own college graduation, I have learned and experienced a great deal of hardship. While these hardships have provided reasons to give up, they conversely provided reasons to push forward. I use this episode as an opportunity to alert students that obstacles may wait ahead, but encourage them to persevere through because as some things may fall apart, other parts will begin to fall together.

There are few things in this world that are more challenging than chasing goals in an uncertain environment. It requires sacrifice, perseverance, and embracing being out of your comfort zone. That’s been my journey since I graduated in May last year.
I’m at a stage in my life where I know exactly what I want but I also know I have a lot of growing to do before I get it. The important thing is that I’ve taken the leap. Even though I can’t tell how close or far I am, I know that am on the way. I want to encourage more people to take that leap and embrace the journey that follows it.
In this episode, I’ll share a bit about where I’m at, how I got here, and the challenges I faced along the way. More importantly, I’ll share some things that I’ve learned from my experience and pieces of advice that I’ve received from people I look up to.
Tune in to this first episode of The Highlight Real and get ready to make the leap and chase your goals.
