This podcast uses scientific interviews, storytelling and my own personal journey to help shed light on mental illness. The hope is to make current cutting edge information available to the public and the experiences of survivors heard by the broader community.
Recently a local news station in my hometown covered a study that people with adhd or autism were at risk for shorter lifespans for a myriad of reasons. a lot of people read this report and the reactions were well … I guess we could say some people panicked. And while I don’t have autism, I do have adhd and don’t feel that alarmed by these statistics. Given that, I thought for the next half hour we would do an overview of how this reduced life span comes to be.

You see, sitting on our shoulders is the most complex arrangement of matter in the known universe and yet as a society we do everything possible to ignore it when the check engine light comes on. My story is motivated by both the pure wonder the human mind and brain have to offer and simultaneously the despair of continued cultural and public health failure to equip human beings to be comfortable in their bodies.
