Discussion Questions:
Knowing:
- Considering all that you have observed about this passage, how would you summarize Moses’s main aim/purpose in writing it?
- Remembering all we’ve learned thus far in the relationship between God and Jacob, how have these chapters demonstrated God’s faithfulness towards His Covenant Promises, and to His Covenant people, namely, Jacob?
Being:
- Write down your testimony of how God saved you in Christ. How did God providentially lead you to the “place of blessing” in Jesus? It is a wonderful thing for us to reflect on!
- Reflect on you the way you are currently living your life. Are you living like Jacob? Or are you waiting on the Lord, following His leading, and submitting to His will as revealed in the Scriptures?
Doing:
- We all tend to live like Jacob from time to time. In what ways or areas of your life do you need to repent and submit to the Lord?
- How does God’s faithfulness, graciousness and love enable you to repent and submit to the Lord?

- What are the ways in which Isaac, Rebekah, Esau, and Jacob put hardship on each other and on themselves?
- List the ways God describes His blessing to Jacob.
Being
- How does Esau’s response reflect some of our own attempts to earn our way back to blessing?
- Why are God’s grace and our worship so deeply connected?
Doing
- Describe a time when you experienced God’s grace unexpectedly.
- In the midst of these difficult times, how are you responding to the Lord in worship?

Discussion Questions Knowing 1. How did Isaac and Rebekah come to the place where they would plot against God and against each other? 2. What are some of the things that make Jacob’s deception so disturbing?
Being 1. What are some of the ways that we try and scheme our way around God and His Word? 2. What are some of the ways that we are tempted not to wait on God and instead attempt to help Him along?
Doing 1. How has this passage of God’s Word shed light on your own temptations not to trust God and wait on Him? 2. How have you seen God work in the past to bring His sovereign grace in your life despite your own sin and rebellion?
