The Modern Magician podcast is a new experiment for me, and this episode is a bit of a different format than the first. This episode contains a raw audio file from one of my many 'flows', in which I openly ponder some of the things most recently enchanting me - in this case, it's the flaws I see in 'political maximalism', or the belief that we can meaningfully address issue like climate change and social injustice through the apparatus of legacy political structures (like so-called 'Democracy', which I think is a nice ideal but seems to groan and collapse under it's own inherent corruptibility). Instead, I suggest that to address structural issues in the world we need not look at top down impositions of someone else's idea of justice, but rather, at technical solutions to the very incentive structures which give rise to the whole of civilization. Cryptocurrency subverts the legacy incentives that brought us here, and as a result, I believe it has the potential to give birth to something new, sustainable, and equitable.
This raw format will eventually fit into my broader 'Akashic Antenna Hypothesis' (look for an essay with that title in the coming weeks), where I try to harvest some content out of my own compulsive audio recording. In addition, I'm working on a few interviews and other kinds of episodes. Feedback is always appreciated.
