Aleksander Saško Nezamutdinov, or Sashko, is a church planter in Krakow, Poland. Sashko, along with his wife Ania, made Krakow their home after hearing about the desperate need for the gospel in Poland.
Out of this desire to spread the good news of Jesus Christ, Sashko and a small team of young adults planted Christ the Saviour Presbyterian Church in 2015. Most of these members came from churches where charismatic and prosperity gospel teachings were prevalent. Among these new members there was a desire to be a part of a Reformed church.
The group began to hold English club outreaches and started a Heidelberg Catechism discussion group. In 2019, the fledgling church rented a small storefront in the cultural capital of Poland, which serves as both the worship space for Sunday and a Christian library during the week.
Sashko has also been busy with a publishing ministry, and with the help of Come Over & Help, solid Reformed literature has now been translated into the Polish language.

Our guest this week is ‘Rob’, who works in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq as a language consultant with the overall goal of helping plant Kurdish churches and get the Bible completed in Northern Kurdish.
Rob has found the Kurds, though they are mainly Muslim and some Yezidi, love the Psalms, and often out of instinct pull out their mobiles to start videoing him when he reads them a Psalm in their heart language! He often proclaims Christ from the book that speaks so movingly of his sufferings and victory, and longs to see Kurdish believers develop more Psalm-singing to help them, in Christ, to make sense of their sufferings and be strengthened with hope.
He shares from the remarkable history of Psalm-singing in the Punjab, 100 years after the death of Shahbaz the poet who put the Psalter into metrical form for the Punjabi churches. Might there be someone in your church who could help collect and annotate Kurdish folk tunes and use them with metrical forms of the Psalms?
He also explores the ethnic identity of the Kurds - one of the largest people groups in the world without a state of their own - who are spread across Turkey, Iraq, Iran & Syria. As inhabitants of the Zagros Mountains, they are descendants of the Medes, who feature in the OT and were at the Day of Pentecost. In troubled times for the Kurds, Rob makes the point that it is not secular nationalism that gives the Kurds a secure future, nor the Western powers who divided up the Middle East after WWI to serve their own interests, but God’s unbreakable covenant with Abraham, which ensures that all nations will receive God’s blessing. God will ensure that the Kurds, along with people of every tribe and language and people and nation, through Christ’s redeeming blood, will be part of his eternal kingdom.
You can watch www.bit.ly/plan4medes to explore this biblical theme further.
If you want to try singing Psalms in English, the Sing Psalms app is a great resource. A list of tunes Rob recommends can be found on tinyURL.com/easyPsalmtunes

Each week we sit down with a guest to discuss Mission and Evangelism in Scotland and beyond.
Our guest this week is author Fiona Christie.
Fiona has recently released a book called "A Strange Unmaking: Ten Years In Colombia."
A Strange Unmaking is a collection of blogs, poems, reflections, journal entries and short stories written by an ordinary Scottish woman during the ten years she lived in the extraordinary country of Colombia. When Fiona Christie first visited Colombia she was beguiled by the beauty of land and the courtesy of the people. A three-week holiday led to a ten-year commitment, first teaching English in a Bible seminary and later equipping churches in poor areas affected by conflict to work with children. Every day Fiona found something fascinating to write about or a beautiful picture to share. But beneath the shimmering surface, decades of conflict had left the land soaked with blood and the nation bitterly divided. The weight of second-hand trauma began to take its toll on Fiona before she realised that she was being unmade to be re-made. A Strange Unmaking takes the reader beyond the stereotypes to a tragic, magical place and tells a determinedly untriumphalistic missionary story.

Alex Nelson is the student leader for the Glasgow Navigators.
About The Navigators
The Navigators has grown out of one man’s pursuit of God. Dawson Trotman lived in America. As he sought God, the Lord promised to build him ‘a house’. At a time when the Christian world saw no ministry beyond evangelism, he was led to invest deeply in the lives of the few in order that they could reach the many. This began in the 1930s with US Navy personnel. It grew significantly through WWII. Following the war the Navigators spread out through the world, it is now in over 100 countries world wide.
The Navigators came to the UK through the Billy Graham crusades of the 1950s. Billy Graham, frustrated by the unwillingness of local Christians to help those who came forwards at his meetings, asked Dawson Trotman to develop what has since become known as “follow-up”. The Navigators therefore supported Dr Graham in all his crusades. During the Haringey crusades, Christians’ eyes were opened to the possibilities of discipleship, and asked the Navigators to minister in the UK. Initially Joyce Turner came to set up an office for materials and as she did this she also began a ministry among women. As interest developed, more Navigators came to set up ministries in communities and universities, which became the starting block for the current ministry.

After undergoing surgery and a course of radiotherapy, Jeremy was declared cancer-free. But three years later he was diagnosed with cancer again, this time in a different form and was told it was incurable.
Beyond the Big C chronicles Jeremy’s extraordinary relationship with cancer and, more than anything, his extraordinary relationship with the person who promises life beyond the prognosis. This week David Meredith welcomes Phil Stogner from Mission To The World to the podcast.
Episode Topics:
About Phil and Wendy Stogner
To plant a church is the greatest way to bring new believers to Jesus. To encourage the heart of a church planter and his wife with Jesus’ gospel is the greatest way to encourage a church plant.
Phil and Wendy have served in the ministry of church planting for over 34 years. After having met during college in Charleston, South Carolina, they married and spent their honeymoon on the road to Covenant Seminary. Following the call to be a church planter has taken them from North Carolina to Florida to Utah and finally back to Charleston, South Carolina, as they began new congregations. With a passion for pastors and their wives, they feel gifted and called to come alongside them with the gospel to support them and their families in their ministry.
The Stogners are committed to the Generation’s vision to plant 30 new congregations by 2030 (30 x 30). They will be working with the Glasgow City Free Church to encourage pastors in this large and strategic city. Believing that “it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace,” Phil and Wendy will serve the national pastors and their wives who seek to grow gospel-centred churches for the glory of God in Glasgow. Their desire is to coach, counsel, and care for the Scottish shepherds who have a vision to see Christ’s wee little flock grow into healthy churches as the gospel grows outward in Glasgow.
