Have you made a rash decision out of fear that you later regretted? This common occurrence results in unnecessary misery and suffering: leaving a good job out of fear of missing a better opportunity, or staying in a bad relationship for fear of being alone. In Acts 26, we will see how the religious leaders' fear of the gospel actually caused it to spread more rapidly, and how Paul's fearless sharing of the gospel led many to salvation.
Despite living in an age where complex information and knowledge are just a simple prompt away, wisdom is hard to come by. While wisdom literature in the ancient world was usually reserved for the educated and elite, in Israel it was different. Available to all and focused on God, wisdom was in the streets for all to benefit from.
The new Governor Festus heard Paul's testimony of faith and concluded that it was both trivial and irrational. What he was lacking was an imagination to see the bigger story God was telling in his life and the world around him. At times we too can get stuck looking at the world through merely a pragmatic and rational lens. Thankfully, God's Word invites us into a faith of the mind and the heart which that leads to a life of love, beauty and adventure.
When Paul stood before Felix, the Governor had his life's most important moment. When the opportunity for real spiritual breakthrough presented itself, the Roman passively kicked the can down the road. Ironically, his prisoner held the keys to his own freedom. In a world where we can get caught up in convenience and self-interest, the Gospel offers radical life-change that cuts through the spirit of the age.
Like an embedded reporter, Luke shares the fascinating details of Paul’s escape from almost certain death as he pursues his quest to take the precious jewel of the Gospel to Rome. Tales of treachery, falsified oaths, and deceit abound, and just might hold a hidden message for you.

First century events in the city of Ephesus show that the Gospel is best served by people with humble hearts, as the Holy Spirit opens doors in many, and sometimes surprising, ways.
After a season of intense ministry, Paul rolled into Corinth exhausted and full of bruises. Even though Corinth had a reputation for being a place filled with chaos, God brought encouragement & peace for Paul through a season of stability. In the times of our lives where we feel worn out, how can we find encouragement to feed our souls?

As Bridge Church prepares to enter into a new season of ministry in Fort Saskatchewan, we will pause our Acts series and reflect on what our Calling is as a church. Join us over the next 5 weeks as we reflect on what it means to see God's Kingdom Come "in Fort Saskatchewan as it is in Heaven."
While Paul was waiting for his team to arrive in Athens he began to share his faith boldly. The next thing he knew he was whisked away to present in a meeting of the cities' best thinkers. Paul was able to use their own philosophers to present the Gospel to them effectively. In a world filled with a whole marketplace of ideas, how can we effectively share our faith today?
After Jesus rose from the grave, he appeared to his disciples confirming what had been done was true and inviting them to something new – a new season of life for following him. Jesus performs another miracle and feeds the disciples. By reminding them of his resurrection power and forgiving them of where they have fallen short (i.e. Peter’s denial), Jesus calls them to a new mission of following him and sharing the gospel with a hungry world.
Every historian whether Christian, atheist, or anywhere in between agrees on this: Two-thousand years ago something BIG happened in Jerusalem. An event so seismic that it led to a Christian revolution which shaped the world as we know it. This week at Bridge Church we will go to Jesus' tomb and find the two Marys who felt the gap of losing their Saviour. In their fear and in their pain, the Risen Lord told them not to be afraid. No matter the gaps in this world or in your heart, the Risen Jesus has become the bridge to wholeness & life.
What a party! The people sang, danced, shouted, waved branches, and threw their clothing on the road to celebrate the Messiah's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Amazingly, Psalm 118 described it a millennium before it happened. Discover the psalm's "Heavenly Dad Joke", as well as some more somber reflections on what the Messiah's life, death, and resurrection would be like and why the Messiah came. And join the celebration – let’s raise the roof!
At the start of Paul's second missionary journey relational conflict, possible sickness, and Divine revelation took him on a road he did not expect. While we love the sense of security that planning and mapping out our future brings - God has a journey of faith for us that is far more formative. When the people and places in our lives change, what does it mean to look to the Saviour who holds all things in His hands?
There was drama in the very early church. Paul and Barnabas got into it with some pharisees ("Circumcised Christians") about what was allowed and what wasn't for the Gentiles, which nearly tore this fledgling movement apart. Come see how the exercise of appropriate and legitimate authority saved the day.
The people of Lystra lived under the fear of disappointing or offending the capricious Roman gods who ran their lives. When Paul worked a miracle in their midst, they responded with anxious sacrifices, mistaking him for a god. While we may not live in fear of upsetting pagan deities, we find ourselves living under cultural and personal expectations that lead to their own kinds of dread. Join Bridge Church this week as we glorify the God who came to serve and not be served - the One who frees us from fear.
Paul and Barnabas spent several days climbing in the gruelling mountains of Tarsus to reach Pisidian Antioch. At the top they shared the Good News of Jesus with the people but were quickly booted out of town. Life is a journey marked by many steep ascents into the unknown. How we perceive success is critical for finding joy no matter what meets us at the top.
Drawing from the ancient wisdom of Ecclesiastes, this message explores how the "meaningless" toil of our daily lives—from New Year’s resolutions to our favorite hobbies—is often like a fleeting vapor that we simply cannot grasp. In our own world a fog of confusion can fall over us and those we love. What does it mean to embrace the power of the Word of God in our lives and cut through the lies?
God was forming something special at Antioch. By bringing different people with a variety of giftings, passions and talents together, a team was created that would impact the world forever. While we seek after purpose in all sorts of avenues in our life, God offers deep fulfillment in being part of His church on mission together.
When confronted and criticized in our community, it can be very difficult for the critics and the criticized to make use of critical thinking skills, but NOT a critical spirit. How are these different? Why is this so important? How can we learn to do better?
While many would say the idea of God's wrath makes them feel uncomfortable, an equal amount (or maybe more) people would reluctantly admit His gracious Love makes them more uncomfortable. Even today, God is still setting us free from our cultural or religious programming that naturally excludes people unlike us.

By stepping into the shoes of the suffering and opening our hearts to those in need, we reflect the selfless love of Christ that "stepped down" into our world. Discover how a simple act of hospitality can become a divine encounter and a powerful fruit of our faith this Christmas season.
Life is full of surprises - some are welcomed and some not so much! If you've ever faced disappointment or rejection, it is easy to get cynical and be skeptical when good news comes your way. Christmas is a season that reminds us that God is a God of good surprises, and even when the day seems dark - dawn is right around the corner.
Ironically, while Christmas is supposed to be a season of reflection and growing near to Jesus, the season itself has become so loud and busy that we can struggle with drawing near to God. How can we find Peace in the middle of a busy season? How can the Holy Spirit empower us to cut through the distraction and noise?
While conventional wisdom might have led God to choose a woman of power to bring Jesus into the world, God chose Mary, a humble peasant girl from Nazareth, to be part of His plan. Her response of "yes" to God brought hope into the world and transformed it forever.
When many would have doubted the genuineness of Saul’s sudden life change, Barnabas vouched for him with the apostles. This act of kindness opened doors to launch Paul’s life calling as the church’s greatest missionary. What does it mean to embrace the ministry of Barnabas today? Philip preaches the gospel to Samaritans and encounters two unique individuals: the fraudulent Simon and the devout Ethiopian Eunuch. These contrasting interactions demonstrate that God's love and call for repentance extend to all people, especially those typically excluded by religious prejudice. Stephen was a faithful man of God who died for his beliefs. After pouring out his heart, he was brutally stoned by people who should have known better. In "We Three Kings" we hear about magi coming to visit Jesus and present him with gifts. What seems like a very random story leads us to learn about God's perfect plans and the prophecies that foretold them. In the seeming randomness of modern life, what is God planning for you?
From a human perspective it might have made more sense for Jesus to be born in Rome or Jerusalem, yet for some reason God chose Bethlehem. This week we will explore the town of Jesus' birth, leaning on the prophet Micah and a classic post-civil war hymn. Our God is the One who takes small places (like Fort Sask perhaps?!) and raises them up for His glory.
In Nazareth, Jesus made the radical claim that He was the Anointed One who had come to bring freedom to the captive. This Good News was met only with scoffs and anger. Centuries later in a small French village, an unlikely duo of troubled men wrote "O Holy Night" - a song that proclaims freedom is made possible through the Miracle of Christmas. What does this Good News mean for our hearts seeking Justice? How can we join the Chain-Breaker in His Righteous mission of Mercy?
At this time of year Christmas is everywhere - yet as you get older it becomes easier to miss completely. What if the sights/sounds/rhythms of this season could become signposts that usher our hearts into God's presence? Join Bridge this week as we dig into God's Word, reflect upon a lesser known Christmas hymn, and take Lord's Supper as a family.
After crossing the Red Sea and into their newfound freedom, the Israelites naturally burst out into song. Praising and worshipping is a natural part of being a human being. Yet more than simply a personal act, worship is a communal & missional declaration that paves the way for God's power in the world to be revealed.

While heading back to Egypt, Moses has a terrifying and truly bizarre encounter with God. While this story is one of the most unusual in the whole Bible, it is packed with Gospel truth that if yielded can preserve and uphold us in our journeys of faith.

In our world it is sadly easy to see that we are surrounded by injustice. We celebrate and long for justice to be done and seen in our world. Join us this week at Bridge Church as we see how God is just and the hope that knowledge brings.
In our broken world, we live within a garden of change. With dramatic shifts in weather from season to season, from green grass to dead grass, from health to sickness, from hope to despair; we find ourselves incredibly impacted by our ever changing world. Within all of our relationships, we experience change on a new level. we can all name a time when someone we thought we knew became someone totally different overnight. Yet, amid this world of change the God who reveals Himself to us is unchanging
God is Love. God showed His love and out of His love for us we are able to love others. John is talking to a church that is struggling with finding the truth and divided by false teachings. John brings people back to how God showed His love for us.
We face danger when we project our own personalities and thinking onto God. In order to know His character and attributes we must turn to the Holy Scriptures. When facing a time of fear and uncertainty, the prophet Isaiah received a vision of the Glorious King of Heaven. This terrifying, fiery vision changed his life and still points to Gospel-Hope for us today.
In our lives, we will face struggles and trials, but we aren't left to face them empty-handed. Join us this week in our second-to-last message in our Ephesians series as we learn about the power of the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
It has become increasingly difficult to find leaders that inspire and encourage us. This leadership vacuum creates a culture of chaos, uncertainty, and division. Nevertheless, when we grasp the idea that worshiping constitutes our most potent rebellion against the pervasive evil in our world, we discover a profound power capable of lifting us from the deepest pits of despair.
Few things help prepare our hearts for Christmas like classic Christmas Carols. "Go tell it on a mountain" is a song that was born amidst the horrors of slavery. In the face of difficult circumstances Christ can be both our hope and light. When He lifts us out of despair and darkness, the natural overflow of our walk with God is to "Go tell it on a mountain." The original audience of the Sermon on the Mount was filled with people who were uncertain about life and, in that uncertainty, tried to find fulfillment by pursuing their own desires. However, Jesus teaches us that we aren't to fill our lives with our own pursuits but are happy when we "hunger and thirst for righteousness."
