Hello and welcome to another Movement Strategy conversation. In this episode, I’ll be speaking with Kayode Yussuf. He will speak to us about his journey since 2011 and what excited him about joining strategy discussions and later being part of the design group that has created the way forward to implementation
Kayode will talk about Africa, a region with intricate cultural similarities and differences that make it so unique, and why growth and development in Africa are integral to the future of our movement given demographic and technological changes in the world. There are many reasons why people would like to contribute to the Wikimedia movement, and Kayode will talk about some of them, as well as regional priorities for implementing the Movement Strategy recommendations. In this episode I will be speaking with Sherry Antoine, executive director of AfroCROWD and the North American representative on the Transition Design Group. Sherry will speak to us about her prolific work and her community-based growth, especially in the current times when information and knowledge have increasingly come under the spotlight. We talk about mentorship and peer growth, Sherry’s journey with Movement Strategy, her hopes for participation in the Transition process to implementation, and matching the rhetoric of community inclusion with action.
Welcome to another episode of Movement Strategy conversations. In this two part episode I will be speaking with Rupika Sharma. Rupika is a seasoned Wikimedian, free knowledge advocate, and community builder in the Wikimedia movement.
In the first part of this episode, Rupika will be speaking about her journey and the interesting article that was her first contribution to Punjabi Wikipedia, her growth over the years, her extensive work with underrepresented communities and knowledge, and why emerging communities are key to the future of the Wikimedia movement.
In the second part, she speaks about the need to create small actionable steps in order to transition to implementing the movement strategy recommendations. She will also discuss the need for coordination and cooperation, especially from her perspective of South Asian communities. What inclusive participation can mean, how to make this process simpler in general, and our aim to ensure we are on trajectory towards the strategic direction while at the same time addressing different barriers that communities face.

We hope to bring you information about Movement Strategy with particular focus on how to get involved with the transition process that will take us and the rest of the movement from publishing the recommendations back in May, 2020 to when we start implementing the recommendation in 2021.
