Fun to be at the new store on Golf Road to mingle with so many involved in the opening of the new store! A lot of work went into it and Joe mentions some of the people he ran into. Brett Kinney (board member) and Laura Franz (executive director) from A Veterans Path to Hope chat with Joe And Tina about the services they provide for local veterans. Everything from social services, counseling, help with housing, and so much more!
Brett is former Army and was a medic. He tells the story about losing friends abroad and here at home. He gets candid about his struggles before turning to the organization. He reached out three years ago for help and never looked back.

He is local and chose spots in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin where many of his family and friends live. These were taken after the fly-by’s back in Ft. It's like a "Shark Tank" with local mentors guiding local high school students to start a business plan and execute it including a website and more. They "pitched" it on May 8th, 2023. Tina's Team, "Rocks" was the winner, but EVERYONE did fantastic. Restoration 1, Edercasella, David Lammers Financial, and The Bremer Team Keller Williams Success who gave away three, $1000 scholarships. This was with District 156. Tina was so proud to be part of this with her alma mater!
For Nurse Appreciation week Joe decided to go to the local ER to say thanks. He needed to go after slipping on a brick wall he was trying to hope at the Woodstock Square. Over 200 new Lego sets were dropped off in McHenry on 12/10 to be delivered across the area by "Bricks of Hope"! Such amazing support from the community. Adam Petraglia, the founder of the organization (and cancer survivor from age 11), along with others will be bringing them to Chicago area hospitals for the holidays. Lisa Hoeppel, from our Care 4 Breast Cancer Calendar passed away after battling cancer for a third time. Over 1000 showed up to pay their respects. An amazing stamp made by her life. Her mother wrote is a sweet email as today (July 18th) is Lisa’s bday. Gone too soon. We will be doing the Care 4 Breast Cancer 5K again this October in the Chicago burbs. Great job by Briargate School in Cary! They raised $1700 for the Cary Food Pantry! The Student leadership Club led by Mrs. Haun and Mrs. Kick came up with a March Madness competition and the classes went up against one another for this great cause. Ladies, you will appreciate this. Tina had to get a fitting for her dress along with her stepdaughters. It's taken a few days and it is a process. Meanwhile her hubby got a tux in a box for the nuptials! It always has to be more complicated for ladies and as Tina said, guys have it easy!
