'The Felt Sense' somatic meditations sprung from my Recover Me trauma recovery course. These somatic meditations are intended to help you safely associate to your body and your 'felt' experience. Many of us walk around disconnected from our bodies and our emotions, either because we have learned this way of living, or because there may be unprocessed or traumatic experiences that are too overwhelming to feel. This series provides a gentle trauma-informed way to start listening to the story of the body being safely connected to your experiences. Start with 1) Full body presence, to get a sense of where you are in your somatic journey---Follow Illuma Health:╰ https://www.facebook.com/illumahealth╰ https://www.instagram.com/illumahealth╰ https://www.illumahealth.org
In order to heal we need to cultivate a deep sense of self-compassion, so that we can meet our pain, our shadows and all the parts of us that are craving to be seen, heard and held.
The ability to contain our difficult or overwhelming experiences is also really important because we begin to learn that it is safe to tune in, process and heal. It also helps us stop perpetuating cycles of bias, disrespect and dysfunction.
When we pair self-compassion and containment, we become empowered and self-trusting in our quest to heal.
Here is Natalia's new somatic meditation to support you to cultivate these two powerful ingredients.
In this session, you will be invited to move your body! The intention is to support gentle embodied expression. Movement is expression and expression is movement. Let’s listen to the story of your body…
We all have different ways of expressing. In this process, you may find release through breath, sound, twitches, or tremors in the body, or through localized or complete unwinding. Go at your own pace. If the process doesn’t feel accessible, return to part 1 or 2. You may need more time in these stages of association/somatization first.

Our body braces as a response to threat. In the case of stress and trauma, we tend to hold on to bracing patterns, even when the threat has passed.
In this somatic meditation, the intention is to cultivate safety and resource in your body; so that you can safely release the brace patterns. This will promote feelings of spaciousness.

We will do just about anything not to feel emotions or experiences that are overwhelming or difficult to be with. But feeling is an essential part of being alive. Feeling an emotion also allows us to move through it and beyond it, into whatever is next. Emotions are right-brain experiences and connect deeply with the felt sense of the body. Once we start to understand the somatic life of an emotion, we can work to feel, process, release, and integrate it. This meditation will support you to dip safely into your right brain experience and make sense of what emotions may be available to you now.

This practice is a full-body somatic presence meditation. We spend so much time disconnected from our body and our felt sense. Here, I offer you an invitation to explore the question: "Where am I in this moment?".
As the first somatic meditation in the series, it is a gentle trauma-informed practice that will support you to associate to your body and sense the nature of change within you.
