In this episode of the #SEOSLY SEO Podcast, I want to take a deeper look at potential red flags in your SEO agency or SEO consultant.

As an experienced SEO, I want to help you avoid getting ripped off when hiring an agency. Watch for these red flags:

  • Insist on knowing exactly who will handle your account. Beware of outsourcing without transparency.
  • No guarantees of #1 rankings - legitimate SEOs know results can't be guaranteed.
  • You should be able to reach your SEO quickly when needed - lack of communication is a common complaint.
  • Demand detailed reporting on tasks completed, not vague monthly updates.
  • Focus should be on leads and sales, not vanity metrics like positions or bounce rate.
  • Avoid any black hat techniques or shifty methods. Transparency about tactics is essential.

With my insider advice, you can recognize signs of an SEO scam, find an ethical, responsive SEO partner, invest your marketing budget wisely, avoid pitfalls for long-term success. Don't get ripped off! Let my experience help you make smart SEO hiring decisions.

In this episode of the SEO Podcast by #SEOSLY, Myriam goes on an impassioned rant about the frustrating double standards that female and minority SEO consultants face regarding humility and confidence.

She vents her irritation over a recent tweet that praised her co-hosts Olga and Jess as "really humble" SEO experts while dismissively labeling her as "no comment." Myriam argues passionately that humility does not help women and marginalized groups progress in their careers or get results for their clients.

In the video, Myriam shares examples from her own career where she was told to smile more, use more swear words with clients, and wait for payments - all microaggressions that tried to make her conform to outdated gender stereotypes.

Myriam explains her refusal to be an 'easy victim' and details how she handles patronizing comments by channeling them into motivation to succeed on her own terms. She urges other female and minority SEO consultants to ignore advice to be more humble and modest, stand up for themselves, and never back down when challenged.

Olga shares her perspective on dealing with negative comments, explaining that she often ignores them and doesn't dwell on them. However, Olga agrees with Myriam's overall message about not accepting patronization.

This candid rant from Myriam sheds light on the struggles many women face in SEO, while also offering advice on overcoming negativity. Olga adds her thoughts on the best way to respond to unfair criticism.

I recently had a great discussion with Myriam Jessier and Jess Joyce about being an introverted SEO consultant. As an introvert myself, I sometimes struggle with putting myself out there and being visible in the SEO community.

In this talk, we share what it's like to be introverted in an extrovert-focused industry. But each of us found ways to overcome those challenges and build successful careers, while still recharging our batteries in our own ways.

I explain how I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to start being more publicly visible. Myriam talks about selectively raising her voice at the right moments. And Jess discusses how she harnesses online communities while still protecting her energy.

Our main takeaways:

  • Know your strengths and promote yourself accordingly, whether through your website, network, or other assets.
  • Find what fills your emotional well so you can recharge after draining tasks like public speaking or phone calls.
  • Remember that you don't have to do everything that extroverts do - focus on what works for your personality.
  • I invite you to watch the full discussion to hear more introvert survival tips from three SEOs who have figured out how to thrive:

This time, we welcome an extraordinary guest, Ted Kubaitis, a heavyweight in the SEO industry. You may know Ted from the enlightening SEO Fight Club, or as the brilliant mind behind the remarkable SEO tool, Cora.

In this fascinating interview, Ted peels back the layers of SEO myths and misconceptions, advocating for scientific tests and evidence-based strategies over hearsay and speculation. Hailing from a white hat background, Olga finds Ted's approach revolutionary, reshaping her understanding of SEO. As someone who views SEO as more of an opportunity to seize rather than a realm for the so-called "geniuses", Ted's humble yet highly informed perspective is as eye-opening as it is inspiring.

Hear first-hand his journey from a background in physics and computer science to his incredible impact on SEO today. This conversation challenges widely accepted beliefs, such as the dismissive attitude towards keyword density and the idea of content pruning.

If you've been following the same old SEO advice and seeing lackluster results, this is the conversation you've been waiting for. You'll walk away with a fresh perspective, empowered to challenge the status quo, and eager to run your own experiments based on Ted's scientific method.

Join Olga Zarr from SEOSLY in this comprehensive video guide, "The Single Most Important Rule in SEO." Olga illuminates the common errors and misconceptions in the SEO strategies of many businesses, even SEO agencies, and articulates the importance of understanding and implementing the basic principles of SEO for online success.

⚡️ Want to become a better SEO every day? Join #BetterSEOToday: https://seosly.com/betterseo/

The video highlights the story of an SEO agency whose clients were not ranking despite doing seemingly everything right, from producing frequent content to great design. The missing link? A critical understanding of one fundamental SEO rule - every page should be optimized for a specific keyword or set of closely related keywords.

In a clear and straightforward manner, Olga explains why keyword optimization should not be scattered across a website, but rather, concentrated and tailored to each individual page. She gives a detailed illustration using a hypothetical dental practice and its potential keywords, such as "Dentist in Los Angeles," demonstrating how to strategize, organize, and optimize each webpage for a distinct keyword.

Furthermore, Olga addresses the significant role of blogs and the importance of doing thorough keyword research before creating or optimizing a website.

She advocates for an approach that emphasizes interlinking related topics and sticking to the principle of "one page, one keyword, one topic."Beyond just sharing the fundamental rule, Olga also suggests some techniques for mapping keywords to existing pages on a site and emphasizes the continuous process of adjusting and refining your SEO strategy over time.

This video is a must-watch for anyone involved in SEO, from beginners to those in need of a refresher on the core tenets. Expect to come away with a deeper understanding of how to lay a solid foundation for a successful SEO strategy, by simply adhering to the "one page, one keyword" rule.
