Michael Frost is an internationally recognised Australian missiologist and one of the leading voices in the missional church movement. Mike encouraged us to consider: who Jesus is sending each of us to.
Sharing from Mark chapter 3, Luke encouraged us to (1) Be with Jesus and (2) Be sent by Jesus.
Our mission is: "Helping people find and follow Jesus" and this remains our focus. As we do this in 2025 Rod encouraged us to Go to the Rock (Jesus). He shared from Psalm 81 which outlines that we need to: (1) Listen and Obey God, (2) Set aside any foreign gods/idols, (3) Sing for joy to God.
David encouraged us to be generous with all of our God given resources (time, energy and money). He reminded us that we are all simply stewards and that we are blessed when we live generously.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10). Brian explored the concept of Fearing the Lord and how it is depicted as a positive thing in scripture.
“Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a word spoken in right circumstances” (Proverbs 25:11). David reminds us of the power of words and encourages us to use our words to speak life and build up.
Alisha shares from Proverbs chapter 3 and invites us to listen for God's voice in everything we do and everywhere we go.
Our Christmas Eve service for 2024. Rod wraps up the series as we celebrate Jesus' birth together.
Grace continues our Christmas Series, sharing about the miraculous angelic appearances surrounding Jesus' birth.
Continuing our Miracles of Christmas series, David shares insights from the 'Magi from the East' out of Matthew 2:1-12.
Liz explored the genealogy of Jesus which highlights that our God is a redeemer. God worked through generations of broken and sinful people to bring about his purposes. It is a reminder to us all that no matter how colourful our family story is, God can redeem it. Let's pray for our family this Christmas season!
Rod introduced this years Christmas Series: The Miracles of Christmas with a look at how Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament messianic prophecies.
B.L.E.S.S. is an acronym that provides a simple framework for introducing people to Jesus. (B)egin with prayer, (L)isten, (E)at, (S)erve, and (S)tory. Liz reminded us that we are God's ambassadors to those around and then presented some practical ways that we can pray blessings for others.
"Beyond" is Lifestreams' language for missions work locally and internationally. In this service we heard a field update from Jason and Cindy Eow who serve with OMF in Japan.
This week Lifestreams South Perth celebrated our 77th birthday together. We take this opportunity every year to thank God for what He has done and continues to do in our church and beyond. Rod shared on the subject of gratitude from Philippians, Thessalonians and the Psalms.
Rod wrapped up our Philippians series with an encouragement to live with contentment and with a spirit of generosity; no matter what our situation. Paul's words to the Philippians remind us that we serve a God who provides for us.
The title of the message from Liz this week was: Breaking the anxiety habit. She shared a number of practical ways that our faith in God can help us overcome anxiety and live in the peace that God offers.

Brian unpacked Paul's plea for reconciliation which he directed towards two Philippian women. Throughout the letter Paul directs Christians to have the same mindset as Jesus; one of humility and it is this humility that will help to cultivate communal unity.
John Bond continued the "This is Living" sermon series. He unpacked Philippians 3:12-4:1 presenting the Apostle Paul's approach to life as a good example for us to follow. John highlighted four things that Paul did, that we ought to do as well: Evaluate (face our faults), Eliminate (forget our past failures and successes), Concentrate (focus on future goals) and Persevere (fight to the finish).
Bec Ellery shared a message from Philippians 3:1-11 exploring the tendency that many of us have to place our hope and/or worth in our achievements. Bec invited us to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal if there are any areas of our lives that we need to re-focus on Jesus as we seek to live as His disciples.
Rod Thom shared a message from Philippians 2:19-30 highlighting Timothy and Epaphroditus as good examples for us to follow. Rod asked us to reflect on what we were inspired by and challenged by as he unpacked their character and actions.
In this message, Liz Roberts explores what Christian maturity looks like through Philippians 2:12-18. By unpacking the example of Jesus and the Apostle Paul, we find that maturity requires humility; allowing God to work on the inside in order to change how we engage with and respond to joys and trials in life. We pray you are encouraged by this message and allow the Holy Spirit to work in you so that you move towards maturity in Christ.
In this message from David Stanford, we look at Philippians 2:1-11 and unpack what it means to follow Jesus, especially in a world that tells us to satisfy our selfish desires. We pray you are encouraged to be with Jesus, be like Jesus and do what Jesus did as a response.
As he unpacks Philippians 1:12-30, Brian Durand invites us to look at Paul's life and perspective, and to consider what living with a Kingdom perspective could look like for us. We pray you are encouraged.
In his message for Father's Day Sunday, David Stanford unpacks a familiar story from Luke 15. It's an invitation to remember the recklessly extravagant love of our heavenly Father and to consider how we respond to Him. We pray you are encouraged.
In the first message of our new series, THIS IS LIVING, Mel Crothers invites us to consider what living in partnership, together as Christ followers might look like. It's an encouragement through the passage of Philippians 1:1-11 and we pray you are encouraged!
Liz encouraged us to ask the Holy Spirit to empower us as we share our love of Jesus with those around us(Acts 1:8) . She also reminded us that as Christians we are called to be a community centered on Jesus, a community of: prayer, fellowship, generosity and the miraculous (Acts 2:42-47).
In this final message of our PRAYER LIFE series, Rod Thom unpacks the idea of MISSIONAL PRAYER. As 'God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus...' we each have a part to play in the Kingdom story and as we spend time seeking Him in prayer this is revealed to us.
As he encourages us to consider what Blessing Prayer might look like for us, David Stanford invites us to a humble surrender of prayer, even when it's hard. As we bless others in prayer, we give God access. Be blessed.
In our LEAD morning, Grace Cook encouraged us to consider the influence we have in the lives of others, and to follow the example given to us by Jesus. He spends some time looking at the scripture where Jesus washes the feet of His disciples in John 13 and in his message he says; "You need to get WHATS GOING ON HERE, this was not just a nice thing Jesus did for His mates. This was a STAKE in the sand moment, a KINGDOM culture defining moment, the moment when a KING declares to His people, “This is what we are going to be known for, this is what the KINGDOM OF GOD is going to be like.”

In this message David shared about “E” in BLESS, which is EAT!!!. We all love to eat. Jesus loved eating with people from all walks of life. People were amazed at who He ate with. It was a big statement as to how Jesus saw people; valued and of great worth. Through having meals with people, He revealed the character of God; inviting, inclusive, forgiving, embracing, no judgement, welcoming. Having meals with people was integral to Jesus mission of seeking and saving the lost, of reaching and restoring the world. Tim Sullivan shared a great story about how he blesses people through eating with them. Keep on doing what Jesus was renowned for; eating and drinking with the despised and lowly people. Practise the spiritual practise of eating with people and also with Jesus on a regular basis.

Madeline L’Engle explains how; “We draw people to Christ not by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it".

One day can make a massive difference in our lives. Ruth was gleaning in a field one particular day and she met Boaz, the owner of the field. He proceeded to bless her abundantly in a variety of ways. Ruth, the grace receiver, became the grace giver resulting in bitter Naomi becoming beautiful, joy filled Naomi. This day certainly finished way different to the start. It is amazing what God does when people live out the Scriptural theme; blessed to be a blessing. The kingdom impact is awesome. May we all live out the blessing and grace of God on our lives.

Sometimes our dreams can be shattered. We can lose a husband or wife, a child or someone we loved. We can struggle with sickness or a job might not turn out as we hoped. Ruth and Naomi had their dreams shattered with the loss of their husbands and ended up in financial troubles. They decided to move back to Bethlehem to try to start over. In the Old Testament, God had a welfare system for the poor that enabled them to go and glean in the field to get food. While Naomi struggled with bitterness Ruth decided to glean for food for her and her mother in law. Ruth happened to end up in the field of Boaz a relative of Naomi. Boaz demonstrated God’s heart to provide and protect the vulnerable and we start to see a whole new beginning for Ruth and Naomi. No matter what we have gone through, new beginnings are always possible with God

Our new Sermon Series is called THE GOSPEL OF RUTH. There is so much “good news” in the book of Ruth. We are going to spend 6 weeks in this book and it’s our hope that you will discover that the book of Ruth is simply and profoundly beautiful. It has actually been called the most beautiful story every written and its plot is woven in an out of conversations between the three major characters. Naomi, Ruth and Boaz.
I really believe that it’s a good time for us to be reminded (after 2.5 years of covid, with no end in sight as well as all of the challenges that we face, loss, unrealised dreams and rising pressures in a number of areas of our lives) that God is present in all of our circumstances regardless of whether we acknowledge it or not and that He is faithful regardless of how we might be feeling or how we see those circumstances.
