Welcome to the Market312 podcast! On this episode we dive into a conversation about student loans.

Student loans forbearance began in March 2020 and since then the pause has been extended a total of seven times. We are now only a few short weeks away from the end of this pause, but this time there seems to be chatter and leaks that the president may be close to finally making a decision.

So, we thought that a discussion on this topic would be useful to sift through the news over the coming weeks.

During our conversation we cover who is impacted by student loans, some of the proposals for relief being floated by elected officials, the challenges to these proposals, and the impact that this decision may have on the midterm elections.

Welcome to the Market312 podcast!

This week join us for a discussion on the upcoming Q2 2022 GDP release and Fed announcement on interest rates.

GDP numbers are being announced the morning of July 28 and most estimates see a decline in GDP for Q2.

Which means that we will have two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth, which fits into the general rule of thumb for a recession. However, to be clear, it’s the NBER that makes this determination retrospectively.  So, we may not know for some time if we are in a recession.

There are a lot of crosscurrents in the economy and time will tell if the current slowdown continues and we do end up in an official recession.  In the meantime, stayed tuned to the pod as we continue to discuss the evolving economy.
